The Pig & Whistle
Review
About
Travelers' Choice
2024
The name Pig & Whistle has had a place in British history ever since daily rum rations were issued to all men aboard Royal Navy ships in 1655. As the story goes, it was the job of the junior midshipman to go below to draw the rum for the shop's company from the barrels - called "pigs". One day the junior officer arrived on deck drunk with the rum for the duty officer of the day. The next day the officer ordered the midshipman to keep whistling until he returned on deck with the rum, this way he wouldn't be able to drink while carrying on his task. Therefore, the name "Pig & Whistle".

Our foursome arrived for late lunch/early dinner hoping for a good English Pub experience.....not.
Our server was most pleasant but not really attendant. The interior bore furnishings that would lend an English flavor. However, the flags of England, Scotland, and Wales over the aisle adjacent the bar were heavy with dust and cobwebs. Faded banners of Harry and Megan adorned windows and other tired appointments were in sight.
Hoping for a decent English ale, I learned from our server that the draft beer offerings were typical of a biker bar. The ONLY English beer offered was a CAN of Boddington's. How sad. Smithwick's was the best offered.
Moving beyond that I put my hopes into the Fish n' Chips. The cod was tasty and moist....however is was hidden inside a fried crust that required a lot of work to get through. The mushy peas and coleslaw came in the little plastic cups associated with Chinese restaurants. Lame.
You would probably have better luck for an English Pub experience elsewhere

The food was delicious! We ordered the fish and chips, fish sandwich, French Dip and Reuben. Everything was terrific and the prices were good. Our server, Virginia, was very helpful and informative about the menu. She was very friendly and even gave us info about something fun to do in the area.

We went to the Pig & Whistle on St. Patrick's Day. It was busy but we got our drinks & food right away! The food was AMAZING! We had the Guinness Shepard Pie,,. Amazing; the Haddock dinner was even better, the corned beef dinner had this amazing cheese sauce on the side-WOW! We had dessert OMG the sticky pudding is too die for! Go there, eat there today!

My husband and I visited Cocoa Beach for the first time. While enjoying the beautiful beach, I developed a need for a Bloody Mary and some boiled shrimp. I googled Best Bloody Mary on the beach and it brought us to the Pig & Whistle Pub. The Bloody Mary (s) were EXCELLENT and so were the shrimp cocktail and the Rueben. Ms Joela, the master off the bar was quick with a joke, exceeded expectations with her service, jovial and she can sling a Bloody Mary. A must stop! We will be back!

As promised, we came back. Several times actually. This time we tried something different. Totally satisfied. The Grilled Whitefish, Cajun style was yummy...but could be a bit hotter (spice). Maybe add some more cayenne pepper to step it up a notch, and offer a regular (as it is now), and a "hot" version. The bacon cheeseburger was yummy. A bit overdone. Ordered Medium, but there was no pink in the middle, so it lost a little flavor. The haddock fish and chips remains a favorite, but we are trying a few other things. Service is always friendly, and prices are reasonable. Some places in the area jack their prices up to a level that'll cause us to return. Pig & Whistle offers good food at a fair price. As long as they don't change this recipe, we will be back.

Five stars. Great menu offerings. Fish and chips (cod) sensational. Burger looked great. Toffee pudding was one of the greatest desserts I’ve ever had.

Amazing food, fantastic service by Virginia. It’s the closest place to a British pub you could probably find in Florida, coming from a British family. The food is a mix of British, other European countries and American. We had a mix of all and everyone enjoyed every meal. The fish and chips especially good and the French onion soup. The sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I’ve eaten. Great portion sizes and great value for money

Sat at the bar for dinner. Enjoyable conversation, very reasonably priced drinks. Food was disappointing: I had a burger which was way overcooked, my wife had the shepherds pie which was bland. Don't think we'll be back.

On a suggestion from a friend and after reading some great reviews, we decided to swing by for dinner. This British Pub has a great vibe, fantastic food (wife ordered the cod and I the haddock fish and chips). To top off this great visit was our outstanding server Ashley, what a sweetie! A MUST do if in Cocoa Beach.

We came into town looking for a quick spot for dinner. Ok place to drink.... not eat dinner. Burgers were so greasy we could finish them, shepherds pie no flavor could of been a TV dinner.... English pork sausage... disgusting! It tasted like something out of the refrigerator section at Publix. Fries so hard not even the kids would eat them.

Dinner on a Tuesday evening. Not too crowded, a few people at the bar. I assumed there would be a larger English influence in the menu but aside from Shephards pie (really cottage pie since it is made with beef not lamb) it's the usual fish and chips and burger place. Not much of an atmosphere. An ok place to go to, but nothing that would make me seek it out again. The service was spot on, however.

We enjoyed a wonderful night of food and drinks. Fried fish is the best in the area, my burger was done perfect and Philly Cheese Steak was great. We are never disappointed, staff is friendly, service is quick but relaxing once your meal is served. So sit back and enjoy.

This is a must stop for our annual trip to Cocoa Beach. Breakfast menu has something for everyone, including traditional British breakfast. Crab cake benedict is divine. Staff is wonderful and always cheerful, even when very busy.

Great Breakfast! We had dinner next door and this place caught our eye so we checked out the menu. We came back and tried breakfast, it was great! Lots of servers working, ours specifically was great the whole time! I got a basic sausage egg and cheese on an English muffin sandwich and a mimosa. My boyfriend got the piggy omelette which he raved about. We make 3 egg omelettes at home and this one put ours to shame! Everything all around was great!

My friends and I enjoyed our breakfast at the Pig & Whistle! We dined outside and our server was funny and friendly and we loved her! The full English breakfast is amazing and everyone in our party enjoyed our food. Make sure to ask what a "Manmosa" is...the answer is hilarious!
We will definitely dine here again!
