Tropics Cocktail Bar, Cocoa Beach, FL- 1-Star “I tend to stay away from the big tourist traps.” – A. Wersching Taking my eyes from the road for a brief second, I glanced down at my random name generator nestled in the center counsel of the...Big Boy Mobile. It hadn't changed since I pulled out of my driveway. I was still destined for a meal at Hollywood & Vine or Times Square. That's right, I was headed for ground zero for tourist hell. I reckon that approximately 90% of the humans I saw are from out of town. I have to mention that it is a good thing I only rate execution of foodstuffs in my reviews as this place was a swill purveyor. I haven't been to a place this filthy since long before COVID made everyone and their mama germ-a-phoebes. My waitress/bartender was Amber and she appeared as grungy and repulsive as the surroundings. Her service was as poor as her attitude. I always wonder how sour wait staff impact the review. I always try to remove horrid service from my review but I must admit Amber is probably the WORST waiter in Brevard County After glancing at the menu I was struck by the interesting flavor combinations represented and, in spite of the surroundings, I was looking forward to sampling the offerings from their kitchen. To that end, I asked Amber for a single malt whiskey—neat and four sliders, two with cheese and garlic aioli and two Caribbean pork with guava BBQ sauce. After 238 days of not drinking and staring at such a generous, beautiful pour of whiskey, it was hard to pass, but pass I did. Forcing my eyes from the whiskey glass, I concentrated on the food before me, snapped a few pictures and commenced dining. First up on the Big Boy's discerning palate were the aforementioned cheese and garlic aioli sliders. The aioli was the blandest aioli I have yet tasted (read plain mayo tasting). The meat was cooked properly, though nothing spectacular jumped out at me. These sliders, despite how well they read in the menu, were below average. Moving on to the item that really peaked my inquisitiveness, the Caribbean pork sliders with guava BBQ sauce. While like its predecessor, these buns were grilled (my favorite), I am fairly certain that the pork was microwaved. It just had that microwaved texture. As bland as the garlic aioli was, I found these to be the better of the two however terrible. Both plates came with fries and slaw. The fries were plug and play, but they were cooked properly and seasoned—huge props for that. The slaw was also very nice, not top shelf, but obliviously not the bottom of the barrel foodservice sludge either. While I found the place lacking, I am sure the typical drunk tourist would love it. The Big Boy says, “unless your cruising for drunk tourists, I would avoid this dump.” #bigboydiningout #bigboyMore
Slipped into the Tropics in Cocoa Beach for a Mai Tai and an app after watching a rocket launch up the beach. Had a great Mai Tai in the true '44 style recipe and not one of those horrible bastardizations with pineapple juice and such...that most places call a Mai Tai. It was late and stuffed myself earlier, so I only had an appetizer. I ordered their Filipino cheese sticks, which are wrapped in spring roll dough! What a great idea. They come with a sweet chili sauce which I found much hotter than I would like. They are obviously a rum connoisseur's bar but also a casual fun spot for anyone. Will stop by again for sure.More
Beautiful bar that specializes in mixed drinks. Only top shelf liquor available. Staff was awesome. Get the Shark Attack! It’s worth it 😂
Really love the ambiance here and the cocktails are fabulous. The food is unusual, interesting and well prepared but its just quick bites so not good if you are looking for a full meal. We enjoyed everything we tried, even the spam musubi. Who serves...spam?? The staff are very friendly and helpful so all around its a good place for well made food and imaginative drinks.More
Fantastic bar and the staff are so Friendly. Food was amazing. Recommend the sliders and lime and cheese fries. Definitely visit again.
There are plenty of restaurants on the water in Cocoa Beach, but the food and service often suffers. Just a few steps further inland, and you'll get better food, better drinks, and better service! The Classic Daiquiri and Caribbean Pork Sliders were both just right...for an early dinner. Friendly behind-the-bar staff and prompt service made it all the better!More
This place has amazing drinks and amazing quick bites. The drinks are inventive, tropical, and very well priced! I would recommend this place to anyone passing by in cocoa beach. It’s MUCH better than coconuts...
Loved the food service and drinks! Lisa was lots of fun and an awesome Mixologist! Don’t miss this place one building back from the beach! Perfect location! Start and end your beach day with a cocktail and eats here!
Ok, a new awesome place in CCB, Tropics Cocktail bar! You’ll walk past it going to Cocoanuts. Alley, Denise, and Lisa offer great service from the start. Great unique cocktails and elevated bites like Musubi , grilled and glazed spam! Yep, Spam, and it’s was...so incredible, a touch of salt and sweet, that went so well with my Zephyr Martini; Grey Whale gin (a craft yummy thing in it itself), cocoanut water, killer Blanc, sea salt, and an scent of blue spirulina. If youve never had Gin, this your introduction drink! Their wings are just as good.More
Tom the bartender is fantastic. His recommendations from drinks to apps are amazing. Place looks phenomenal, lots of fresh air, and great atmosphere to just relax and get refreshed. Great location just footsteps from the beach. My recommendation, definitely have the Shishito Peppers & the...green tea mojito. The fusion is euphoric!!! This is the hidden gem when you’re here.More
