This restaurant works for so many reasons and fails for a few. When you read through the reviews, you can find a huge gap in experiences. We were staying close by so ended up walking to the cafe 3 days in a row for breakfast....It was originally chosen as it had many vegan/gluten free choices (clearly marked on the menu) that looked good (and these did not disappoint).
Restaurant is located alongside some shops with free parking out front. You order at the counter, go and pick a table, and your food is brought to you. Outside seating with view of water can get hot in the sun (limited umbrellas). There is also some seating inside. There were quite a number of items for everyone in our group to choose from.
They have great coffee drinks, great juices and smoothies and the avocado toast and oatmeal was good as well - little one liked the pancakes. Prices seemed a little high but the quality of the food and serving made this reasonable. They are also open for lunch but we did not check that menu out.
The first day we went, they said they were going to open in about 30 min (it was past the time of the posted opening - no big deal). As we waited, some other customers came and went (there was another breakfast place close by). They opened, we went in, ordered and chose a table. Realize that they just opened and it was a little while till the food came (we had little ones w/ us). But remember it is made from scratch and the quality is there. Food came - everyone super happy with what they ate.
The second day, we decided to stop in just a little later, they were open and we had another great meal and experience. The third day, we went in and a lady sitting on a chair saw us and continued to talk to a man there with here. We did not want to interrupt so just looked at the menu to decide what we were trying this time. Finally, she said that the her employees had not shown up and we asked if they were coming - she was not sure. We decided to move on at this point as she was back talking to the man and didn't seem interested in having us here.
Hey 2 out of 3 aint bad - right? Would I go again? Yes for sure - food was good and place nice. Would have a backup plan just in case though. If you need your food quickly or are strapped for time, you should probably pass on this one.More
Amazing coffee...Cafe Con Leche is spot on. Breakfast sandwiches and Avacado on Toast are delicious. Very organic and fresh ingredients. It's a family run establishment, and you can tell. The service is exceptional and warm. The ambiance is a cherry on top . We visited...this place multiple times during our stay in Clearwater. The kids loved the Pancakes and eggs.More
True hidden gem! Delicious, highest quality food and coffees! Very nice, friendly service. Just one word of warning though- this is not a quick stop- everything made to order with tender loving care. So don’t come here if I’m a hurry. Otherwise, my highest recommendation!
This was just a great little find. The coffee was excellent, and I don't usually think of oatmeal as something to get excited about, but it was excellent here. The employees were SO kind and attentive. I wish I had come here for both breakfasts...in town -- Basimo is leaps and bounds better than its neighbor with all the hype.More
I have been coming to the area for years. I checked TripAdvisor and saw this cafe and visited for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Coffee is delicious! The view of the water is an added benefit. Breakfast was very good, we had the breakfast sandwich...with Avocado. The ambience is nice and relaxed and the staff is attentive. Definitely will be back.More
