We try this for the first time tonight and everything was pretty good. Nothing was outstanding but nothing was bad. The pineapple chicken fried rice had a good flavor but I wish there was more chicken and pineapple. The chicken hibachi was good as well. We also liked both appetizers but did not love them. Overall it's worth trying. I think you'll like it.

Great food quick. Need you Japanese fix? Kim the waitress was super pleasant. Had the crab Rangoon and fried dumplings to start. Hot and crispy - the way it should be. Other party had the beef fried rice and I had the udon chicken noodles. Everything is flavorful and not spicy. Will be back to try more items when I’m in the area.

Walking in, the interior was very nice. Service was excellent. Food was fantastic. We had lunch and ordered the hibachi shrimp and the tofu box. Both were delicious but my wife fell in love with the light crusty tofu in a tasty sauce. The only negative is we are about 35 miles east and would love to have one near Lakeland. Cain't wait to return.

It has been quite a while since I've been to Tsunami. The atmosphere is exactly the same. It's still nice and comfortable. I can't remember why I stopped going, but I think it had something to do with slow service. The service was way better this time around. Len was super helpful and patient. He helped with seating mom comfortably in her chair, and boxed up her food at the end of the meal. It's the extra things that make us happy. The menu must have changed somewhere in between 2006 and today. The specialty sushi roll menu in particular didn't jump out at me this time because a lot of the items contain cream cheese. I get it. Many people like the mixture of ingredients with cream cheese. I'm not one of them. I'm sure they would have excluded it if I asked, but felt I should point that out. The mussels appetizer is no longer TNT style. They are made in the chef's special Kunjun style. It was very good, and the mussels were large. I prefer the wasabi/Japanese mayo version over this one. With that said, it was still a welcomed change flavor-wise. I've always liked their hibachi dishes. That's what we ordered. She got the shrimp and I got the shrimp & steak combo. It comes with a very generous portion of salad with ginger dressing. I love their ginger dressing! It's not that bright orange (almost artificial) dressing that I've had at other restaurants. I ate almost all of it. I could eat salad all day with this type of dressing. You also get a choice of miso or clear soup. The clear soup was average, but tasty. The dinner portions are a very good size. Everything was cooked very well. The fried rice had this very good smoky flavor from the wok. I think I detected a hint of oyster/fish sauce along with that great smoky taste. The shrimp and steak were of good quality. The yum yum sauce was on point. It was all very good. Definitely enough for 2 meals. We had leftovers. Oh, and the Moscato wine was very good as well as the hot green tea. They had other wine options as well. I think I'll try the German Riesling next time. I won't wait another 10 years to return.

My wife, daughter, and I went to the Tsunami for dinner during the middle of the week and were seated immediately. It was not crowded so our server appeared immediately and took our drink and appetizer orders. We ordered the edamame and spring rolls. Shortly our drink orders arrived but my daughter and wife were still mulling over what to order. My daughter is a big sashimi fan, but my wife prefers sushi, so the server gave us several more minutes and our appetizers arrived. The edamame was, well edamame, which I dipped into some soy sauce to add some flavor. The spring rolls were served with an orange sauce, were piping hot, and delicious. My wife finally decided on sushi (with the help of our server) and my daughter selected the escolar, tuna, and salmon sashimi. I ordered the fried rice with beef. Our entrees arrived after a reasonable time and I must have received 3 or 4 cups of fried rice. I tried it and it was good, but I added some soy sauce. The egg was slightly over cooked as the whites were bit chewy. The flavors were good but as I stated, I added soy sauce for flavor. My wife said hern sushi was very good, but she also had a huge serving. My daughter said her sashimi was excellent. Our dinners were all very good. My only complaint with the atmosphere was that the dining room had a flat screen TV playing sans sound, but it was distracting and not something better restaurants have in their dining rooms. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, the food was good, and our service was excellent. Normally, my wife and I would not elect to return since neither of us is a fan of sushi and sashimi.

Really enjoy Tsunami, they have great lunch specials and a great variety of regular and specialty sushi rolls along with a great additional variety of Japanese dishes. Atmosphere is nice, dim and clean. Only issue I have is that I think it's ridiculous that they charge addit6for sauces like Yum Yum....no other sushi or Japanese restaurant I go to does that especially when I am paying 11-13 dollars each for specialty rolls. Last time I got the Double J Roll and it was fabulous.

We had been wanting to try this place but thought it was only sushi and hubby won't eat sushi. A friend mentioned that they also had hibachi, rice bowls, etc so we decided to go ahead and check it out. Located in a strip mall we weren't expecting much but it was really very nice inside. We were seated right away. Employees were warm and friendly. I ordered the steak and chicken hibachi. It came with a salad and soup. Loved the ginger salad dressing, the soup not so much with tofu in it. Food came out perfectly as ordered. Very tasty. I also ordered the hot green tea but at $3.50 it's not something I would order again. Hubby ordered the friend rice bowl with chicken. He said it also was very good. We both took half our meals home for another meal. It's a great place to try that's near the mall but far enough away that you can avoid the mall crowds.

The sushi was good. The hostess was rude. She got upset when we asked to seat in a different table, she said “you can’t seat over there” and we insist (booth table) because they were plenty available, so she said yes, and then she threw the menus in the table with an expression of annoyance.

We went there is celebrate closing on a new home. We had a flight of Sake that was very good, so many great sushi choices it was hard to decide. The edamame appetizer was perfect. The staff was very friendly and as we went at a slow time they were all super attentive.

Very clean place, and friendly staff. Lots of Sushi options and they are very delicious. They do have other food options. I totally recommend this place if you are in the Brandon area and are looking for a clean place to eat some delicious 🍣. By the way the spicy mayo and Yum Yum sauce are not free.

I looooove Tsunami! This is our go to place for sushi but they also offer other selections, great hibachi for your non-sushi friends. They offer both dine in and carry out. It is rarely a wait for a table (I hope this review doesn't hurt that). The lunch menu is a real bargain. Try the volcano roll .... yum!

We go to tsunami every chance we get...its so good my brother was willing to cat sit with tsunami as payment. The hurricane, double j and hell rolls are ones we get every time we visit. The hana fuji Apple Saki is also amazing it's a cold sweet Saki not the traditional warm dry saki. Harry is absolutely the best waiter, ask for him and you will be glad you did.

I'm weary of trying new sushi places because I've been so disappointed so many times. But my friends go to Tsunami often and love, so we tried it. The selection was enormous and the explanations were great. So may choices we ordered a ton of food. Not a disappointed one in the bunch. Or hungry....

My husband and I are big sushi fans and we have recently moved into the area. We have tried various sushi bars in the Brandon area now but can safely say this place is hands down our favorite. The food is fantastic - it's well presented and beautifully made! We have had 2 different servers now who were both excellent. One made great recommendations and was enjoyable to talk with and the other moved with such efficiency when we told her we were in a rush because of a movie we were going to see. If i had one criticism it would be that it has a cafeteria feel to the restaurant which could be improved on, but it's not enough to distract from all the positives of this place!
