In November 2011, Adam Ellis opened Blue Marlin Seafood in the heart of historic Bridge Street. You’ll know Blue Marlin by the vibrant blue color of this historic 1920s cottage, and once inside you will feel like you’re in a seafood house in coastal Maine. Ellis and his wife restored the cottage, which has been their family for many years. In keeping with the feel of an intimate, coastal restaurant, they retained the original wainscoting and wood flooring and cleverly built tables and benches from recycled dock wood. The “black and white” room displays black & white photos of locals & their fish catches. Antique ship lanterns, fish mounts & oars scattered throughout lend the cottage a charming,…
Excellent! The place was nice and our waiter was great. The food - YUM! You will need a reservation. We both had appetizers - I had the Brussel sprouts with bacon/potatoes and hubby had a bowl soup he said was delicious. Both of us went...with the fresh catch grouper. I had the pecan crusted, sweet potatoes and broccoli. He had blackened with brown rice and broccoli. The meal was very tasty. Finished with a decadent homemade peanut butter cup. I would absolutely recommend. I did hear the hostess say they have outdoor seating and live band with a $10 per person coverage charge. I thought that was strange and inappropriate to charge a cover for restaurant customers, but it didn't apply to me.More
My husband and I had the catch of the day, grouper. The fish was dry and bland. Squeezing lemon on fish did little to help the flavor. Sides were tasteless
It was expensive for a poor meal. Our fault, we should have sent it back
This was our first visit The Blue Marlin. It was awesome! The food is inventive & provides variety. I had the GLT Salad - it tasted great and was the perfect amount! My husband had the Lobster Grilled Cheese and loved it. The service was...great -- we will be back!More
Blue Marlin never disappoints! Had a fabulous evening with my girls! Best booth by the bar. Our server Drew was amazing and had so much energy and was very attentive! The cracker shrimp were awesome! The majority of us had the black grouper fulford style....Great shareable sides. To top it off, great music and vibe in the trap yard!! Manager Max made sure we had everything we needed! Awesome attention! We love this place!More
As locals, Blue Marlin is a staple for special celebrations. Just the freshest seafood, absolutely beautiful, quaint ambiance & attentive owner & staff. The best of the best. Truly one of our favorite destinations. Highly recommend!
The 2 stars are in comparison to the other restaurants during our stay. We had a grouper sandwich and the lobster grilled cheese. Both were very good, however the price was over $50.00. We had waters and no appetizers. There were many other restaurants that...we visited where we ordered more for a lot less money. The Blue Marlin atmosphere did not warrant the steep prices. The menu was also limited.More
Quaint little restaurant on Bridge street. Perfect for our date night with friends while on vacation. They served edamame as an appetizer surprise — so good! Grouper entree with broccoli was delicious!
Had a great experience at Blue Marlin, a cozy restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere complemented by a friendly and attentive staff. Started with a tasty shrimp dip with tortilla chips. Our entrée included filet mignon from grass fed beef, steamed broccoli and potatoes accompanied by...our wine choice.. The filet (served medium) melted in my mouth and was possibly the best steak I’ve ever eaten! Topped it off with a slice of bourbon pecan cheesecake for the perfect meal. Kudos to staff.More
