I got a great doctors result so I celebrated by myself snd stopped to buy myself a few treats. I bought a chocolate cupcake the icing was ganache with a hint of cream cheese. A slice of almond cake the top covered in sliced almonds....And a piece of butter pound cake. Oh my Im in heaven. My choice for baked goods. It was so good I tried to order it again for another occasion, but the wrong cake was...made. I was disappointed but learned from this experience that one can not be too careful in the choice. This bake shop is on Union Street in Wilmington, yards from Eclipse Bistro. It has been in business, so far as I know, only a few years, but in that time has become a place people talk about in very high terms. The pound cake...is excellent. You can buy an entire cake or individual slices. Many other desserts are offered, also. I have not tasted all the offerings, but those I have taseted were uniformly excellent. The price is not what you might expect at a supermarket, which this definitely is not. The buyer has to realize that the ingredients of fine baking are not cheap, and if you want first rate baking, you have to have the proper ingredients and that adds to the cost. Check out the prices of eggs and butter and you will understand, not to mention other ingredients that are needed for many creations without getting exotic. All things considered, this is an excellent place to buy cakes and the like and the price is reasonable, considering the quality of the product and the cost of ingredients if you were to make the same items at home. I volunteered to bring dessert to ladies night so I stopped by Sweet Somethings. I arrived at 5:05 and they close at 5. But the owner saw me and invited me in. The selection was extensive. Instead of getting one cake I decided to get...10 individual mini cakes in 10 different flavors. We cut them into 4's and sampled a bunch of them. The coconut cupcake may have been my favorite, but the smooth cheesecakes were a close second. You do need to enjoy very sweet desserts; not an issue for me. Dessert was a big hit! Having just moved to Delaware, a coworker ( he lives in Delaware as well however we work in Pennsylvania) suggested this place for cakes and muffins for our office. When you look at the prices on the cakes you may be a bit skeptical... but...the cakes are huge... and honestly worth it. I've picked up cakes for coworkers who live in Pennsylvania fir their family holidays/birthdays. Im not a huge sweet eater but the salted chocolate caramel mousse cake is amazing. We purchased single desserts - a peanut butter bombe and something very chocolatey and fudgey topped with a white mousse and raspberries! Ample-sixed and DEElicious! These are desserts that a restaurant would easily charge $9 for. It's a good thing I don't live nearby or...I might visit daily!More

This is an excellent bakery on Union Street, no sitting space inside, but you can buy your desserts and bring them home. These are the best cakes and pies I have ever tasted! They have a wide selection of premade desserts, but a very nice...menu of cakes pies and cupcakes that they will make on order. I only wish they had a location closer in the trolley Square area with seating!More
