We bought some great candy here. It is so nice to see a place that has history. Most of the candy is made in their building. I did not realize that they had a restaurant here. The place is very old looking inside, but don't let that put you off. The lady working here was so kind. She very nice... More

Gavatos is a great place to grab breakfast or lunch and some delicious chocolates and other candy before you leave. We arrived after the lunch serving was over, but our server was so nice and said it was no problem and took our order. The food was good and very reasonable considering it is in Downtown Wilmington. After lunch we... More

My family has gone to Govatos for years, especially for Easter candy. They have little $1 bags of candy, called "boo boo bags." They are the candies that didn't look cute enough to put in their usual boxes. They are delicious and I didn't see anything terrible in how they looked. Govatos also has a restaurant that serves breakfast and... More

There are lot's of candy stores but if you want the real deal, stop in here. The candy counter is an old-fashioned glass-front case with so many choices displayed: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, nuts, nougats, caramels, plus seasonal specialties. Just keep picking until the box is full.

Great place for a quick bite before you go to the Grand Opera House. It's a Chocolate shoppe (chocolates are made on the premises) and a Luncheonette. It is part of the charm of Wilmington that has been around since about 1890. You can eat there and walk to the "Grand" On your way in and way out you can't... More

This store has been a family tradition for generations. In addition to great candy all through the year, it carries seasonal chocolates that children in the area ( and many adults ) have come to expect. They have special shapes for Easter, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. They have coconut cream, vanilla cream and black walnut cream Easter eggs that... More

The restaurant is incorporated with the candy store. The candy is the best anywhere. I always pick up a couple of boxes around the holidays or a special occasion. Govatos is a Wilmington, Delaware landmark.

My review is mostly about the chocolate - OMG I couldn't survive without their dark chocolate covered pretzels once a month! NO ONE makes them better then Govatos. But the restaurant on Market does a nice diner-like breakfast too.

We have purchased candies for special ocassions from Govatos Candies at 8th and Market Sts. for as long as I can remember. The candies are homemade and you can really taste the difference. Try their caramel apples at Halloween...I guarantee that you WILL be back again next year.
