After checking out their website I stopped in to pick up some fresh sausage to make for dinner. Despite being a "Deli" and "Salumeria" all that I found was a small selection of FROZEN sausages. No fresh sausage, maybe there was some salami in there...somewhere but none to see or taste. If I wanted frozen sausage, I can order it from anywhere. What I expected is a classic Italian salumeria with a selection of salami hanging from the ceiling and a counter from which to view and order freshly made sausage. They don't even make their sausage on-site.More

Made it out to Wilmington to give Maiale a try based on DDD and reviews. A good variety of sandwiches and house made sausages. We ended up getting a variety for sharing. Of course the Thai Curry sausage which was featured on DDD. Nicely seasoned...with a good balance of curry and Thai flavors. You would never guess it was a chicken sausage. Definitely a must try. The Chicken cutlet with BBQ, bacon and cheddar was smothered with BBQ sauce and made for a tasty sandwich. The Muffaleta was just right salty given the house cured ham and spread. They have their sausage for sale with varieties like sweet and spicy, banger & chorizo. Unfortunately they were sold out of their most popular -Thai Curry. We ended up picking up some spicy Italian and it was excellent! We picked up and the servers were friendly and service oriented. A DDD favorite that didn’t disappoint!More

watched u on triple D , first before u even talk about a Cuban sandwich , u should get your facts right, Cuban sandwich has nothing to do with Cuba, even less communist Cuba, Cuban Sandwich is originally from a town name Ybor City in...Tampa Florida....they were catered to cuban workers in tampa and Key West around the cigar industry...second, as a Cuban American , Born in Cuba i feel insulted that u named the Cuban Sandwich "Castro" , its like naming a German sausage "Hittler" ....and third , A cuban Sandwich on ciabatta or French Bread should not be called Cuban sandwich, the Cuban Bread , make with Lard makes the sandwich to be what it is....last , if u want to name it after a real Cuban name it after JOSE MARTI......dont take this personal , just educatingMore

I've been wanting to try Maiale Deli ever since it appeared on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. I've known about it for years, but I finally had a chance to drop in. I had the short rib sandwich and an order of the jumbo wings....A little too much food for a quick lunch. The wings were indeed a good size and well done. The sandwich had quality ingredients, but the flavor was a little underwhelming. I guess the main taste came from the garlic aioli, but it was a little light. I would like to try it again with a different sauce. I've also eaten a couple of breakfast sandwiches from the food truck at work. I'd like to try a few more of the sandwiches before I make a more thorough review.More

Saw this place on Guy Fieri's DDD. We took a ride down from Philly. Order at the counter, they bring out the food. We got the Castro (Cuban sandwich) and the Ricky Bobby (turkey sausage with broccoli rabe and provolone). The Castro was very good,...but the ciabatta bread was very toasted and too crunchy. The turkey sausage was also good, but the casing was very tough and hard to bite through. The fries were tasty and plentiful, but a bit soggy. Aoli mayo to accompany fries was tasty. Prices are reasonable. In addition to the sandwiches, we were interested in purchasing the different styles of sausage advertised on their website and talked up on DDD. However, they only had a freezer case of several different kinds. I was hoping for fresh!More

After seeing this sandwich shop featured on DDD we made the trip and the sausage sandwiches did not disappoint. The chicken egg roll was over the top delicious! Unfortunately during our stay no employee cleaned tables so if you wanted a clean table you had...to clean it yourself before sitting down.More

This was my 3rd stop on the Wilmington, DE tour of venues featured in Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and the 2nd disappointment I've had. The sausage sandwich was so over-cooked it was hard to finish, and the french fries were under-cooked and soggy. I consider...myself a fair person, so I will give them 1 more shot because everyone has an off day, but hope the 2nd time is much better.More

The Restaurant was reviewed on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" so you know I had to give it a try. I'm glad I did. I got the Corned beef Ruben and like the title says, Best Corned Beef Ruben I had. My wife had the Muffuletta...so you know we had to share. We couldn't pick a favorite. We will definitely be going back.More

Have stopped in for breakfast sandwiches over the past couple of weeks due to odd working hours. They are fantastic and really offer up some great flavor. Try the Dirty Harry or the Inspector Callahan.

While visiting a relative in Wilmington, we stopped at Maiale Deli for a quick bite. We were not expecting very much. We ordered the ‘Castro’ Cuban sandwich, and the turkey chorizo sandwich. While waiting on the order, I poked around, noticed the variety of in-house...deli meats in the cooler and thought, “hmmm.” The sandwiches arrived and were absolutely delicious; the Cuban sandwich contained tangy marinated pickles that made this meal outstanding. The staff was friendly and prices are fair. Definitely a place we will visit again..More

Only unique only due to many meats put together on premises. Specialty is sausages and pulled pork. Met a business associate for lunch and we tried both. I liked the sausage sandwich and he gave the pulled pork high marks. 20 bucks covered the entire...lunch, including tip. Good deal!lMore

Maiale has been making outstanding sausages and ground meats for years now. Their old storefront was a bit of a challenge with a small parking lot and difficult entrance off of Lancaster Ave. I have relied on their presence at local farmers’ markets to indulge...my cravings. Now that Maiale has relocated to this odd little strip mall further west on Lancaster, there is now a compelling reason not only to shop for their specialty products, but to stay a while in their spacious dining room. It’s only open for breakfast and lunch, and you can get carry out for dinner since they close at 6. There is a casual vibe here, and seems to be popular with kids from neighboring Wilmington Charter/Cab Calloway. With such high quality preparation, I’m a little surprised Maiale does not offer a dinner menu. I know I’ve made some fabulous meals at home with their products.More
