Johnnies' has somehow mastered the art of fried chicken AND gourmet hot dogs. I had the chicken there today for the first time, and I would put it in the top 4 chicken places I've visited (the others are in Charleston, SC, Florida, and, strangely, Nagoya, Japan, with plenty of mediocre one's throughout the country). The chicken is amazingly moist,... More

This place has been around for some time as an elaborate hot dog eatery - many, many choices and variations, but its newest addition is its fried chicken, which is now clearly the best in the Wilmington area barring none. Crispy, yet tenderly moist. Absolutely delicious. Very friendly service and takeout. Good choice of tasty and adequate sides. Totally mouth-watering.

Always a hit with all 7 family members with very diverse appetites. Love the bean pie! Friendly, clean, fun place to eat.

This place is an institution. You name a dog and they have it. I've worked my way through about half of them. The owner is there most of the time and he is really nice. Well worth the trip

it was okay. I was glad I tried it but I would not go back as it was nothing special. The hotdogs and food were good.

We were driving through on our way to Arlington, VA, very hungry and happened upon Johnnie's ala trip advisor. So glad we stopped! We ordered a wisconsin dog, california dog, chicago dog, junkyard double dog, 2 shakes and fries. Aboslutely loved everything about the experience! You can't over appreciate a restaurant such as this that takes you back in time... More

The hot dogs are pretty good here. I had a chili dog, leaked in the bun but pretty good and a Chicago dog that was really good. A little pricey but overall we liked the hot dogs. They also have other food and the fries are real good also. I would go again.

When they first came about, I thought it was a cool place to eat. It still is if your wallet is prepared. It's pricey food for grocery store hot dogs. Go to costcos to get a 1/4 pound hot dog for $1.50 + a drink.

I grew up in Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY and always remember the taste of fresh sauerkraut and beef hot dogs. Eating them captured my mind and senses into adulthood and i've searched for the "perfect Coney Island dog" and Johnnie's Dog House gets the gold ring for excellence in cooking and preparing various types of hot dogs on a bun... Surprising number of choices - in addition to plain, chili, sauerkraut ... you can get a kobe beef Frank, Hawaiian (pineapple and chips) or a bunch of others. I had the sausage & peppers, which was very good. My wife had the Texas (fried with cheese) - but you'd need to like American 'cheese' to really enjoy it. Has burgers,... More
