I arrived in Delaware on a Monday, to collect a new state and grab some Indian food before I caught a plane out of Philadelphia. Well, it was a lunch buffet, but don't ever let that fool you. India Grille provided exceptional food in a...pleasant, casual, setting. The greeter was all smiles, providing ice water as soon as I went to a table. The buffet was much larger than I had expected! There was soup, 3 types of rice, chickpeas and samosas for appetizers, and a large selection of Indian dishes, 3 of which I had never seen before. And, although there was a few Indian staples, Chicken Tikka Masala and Goat Curry, there was nothing mundane about the layers of flavors built from a myriad of herbs and spices. The depth of flavor was both intricately complex yet subtle, it left me believing Indian Grille had created the best Indian cuisine experience ever! This restaurant was delightful. Get the tandoori you will not be disappointed. EXCELLENT. They asked what temp I wanted and it was spot on (very rare in a restaurant). A very unique display of subtle tastes. I was stumped and the host could not share...the unique flavor profiles - which is great because I’ll be back. I had the chicken. The basmati was fine and the masala tea was worth coming back for. I’ll be back. This place looked like an everyday, strip mall placed Indian Restaurant. I came here becuz my wife loves Indian a food and I love her. We ordered the lamb curry and lamb madras. Both were “medium spicy” and made me smile and my wife drink...more water. They were simply excellent!! I also ordered an appetizer of “garlic mushrooms”. It turned out that this was my special prize for coming here. This was a dish of sliced mushrooms with diced onions and garlic cloves, all cooked/fried in a brown sauce. What a treat!! We’ll be back, my wife for her favorite cuisine, me for the mushroom appetizer. Next time I’ll order two!! Very pleased in Delaware.More
Passed it many times...big mistake on my part. When we were there it was buffet only. No problem, it was an excellent buffet, but a little pricey.
After a morning at my 5-year old granddaughter's school for their annual Grandparents' Day, we decided to continue our special time together by going out to lunch - her choice. Although I made several suggestions that I thought were "kid-friendly", she chose the India Grille,...or as she called it, "Mo's place". She and her family are regulars there, and many of the servers know her by name. That was the case when we walked in, and she introduced me as her "Grandma". We were there for the lunch buffet, and it was she who knew the ropes and introduced me to her favorite dishes. I especially enjoyed the chili chicken. For dessert, we had a wonderful rice pudding. When I asked for the bill, the server said, "No, it's our treat!" I was stunned. So stunned, in fact, that I left without leaving a tip. The next day, I returned with a thank-you card and a nice tip. I'll certainly remember the kindness of the staff and the delicious food and hope that next year, when 2 granddaughters will be involved, we'll all 3 return for our special Grandparents' Day lunch treat.More
Today I visited this restaurant with my family for a lunch buffet. It took 20-25 minutes to get a piece of bread (Nan). Chicken Chilly was completely dry, same for Fish, Rice was burnt. There are much better Indian restaurants in Newark & Wilmington to...try. On top of everything furniture was broken, what a first time experience.More
The food here is excellent and tastes/feels home made. My Wife and i had delivery from India Grille on 2 occasions whilst staying at a local hotel. On the second occasion delivery took 40 minutes longer than was promised and the food was stone cold...when we received it. I also think that the fees added to delivery are unnecessary given we were a 2 minute drive away.More

India Grille, has a limited menu, but the dishes are very tasty and the portions large. The place is neat and tidy, and I noticed that most of the people came in for take aways. The staff was courteous the food was presented well. We...had vegetarian options of cut mirchi, veg biryani, chole bhature and masala dosas. Except for the cut mirchi I would give a 4.0 / 5.0 for all the rest. The mirchis were good but not to the standard of hyderabad. Overall a great place which I would definitely revisit.More
The lentils soup with vegetables was really delicious. I had the lentils with lime for the first time, it wasn't as good as the one with vegetables, it also had a lot of cilantro. The chicken masala is the best we have had, we ordered...spicy #4, which wasn't too spicy. We like to mix the sauce with the rice ... is so yummy!!! The garlic bread was also really good. The waitress and waiter were really attentive and helpful. Highly recommended.More
They really over charge. For five 3 inch pieces of seekh kebab it was 14.99 (and literally it's under two regular full size kebab cut up in pieces which would cost 4.00-6.00 at most places in NJ). I am willing to pay 14.99 for a...meal because you would at most restaurants, but what really made a bad impression was that last time (take out) they didn't give any chutney at all with two orders of kebabs, and this time I asked them to omit the rice and give some chutney in its place, and I was given two teaspoons worth of chutney after having to plead for it. In addition, a given dish can vary widely in flavor each time you order it, and you'd be well advised to watch your receipt for mistakes. Despite most of these things I kept going there because it's the only indian restaurant locally to serve halal meat. After the stinginess with chutney for the already very overpriced kebabs, I think they finally earned my negative review. It's like having to beg for ketchup on a 14.99 hamburger with no bun.More
The place is cozy and plays instrumental music from old Hindi movies. The food is average tasting. Nothing exceptional. I found the Biriyani a little too overpowering with too much of "Kewra" essence. They have multiple chutneys available on the buffet table and they are...really great tasting. The tandoori chicken is kind of bland and could use some more seasoning. There are not too many options for desserts and were disappointing to me.More
Had to wait for buffet but it was worth it. Food was fresh and delicious. Dhosas were outstanding. Sauces were tasty and fresh too. Would love to come back!
