Best meal so far while staying in Lewes. Excellent, flavorful steaks and sides. Fabulous service. Dessert was great too.

Who would ever thought you would get such excellent food from a strip mall restaurant. On the outside it doesn't look like much until you walk in. The food was excellent and so was the service. Reservations are a must. The wait staff brings out...a tray of their steaks and explains what cut they all are. We had drinks, appetizer, main meal and dessert and everything was excellent. We definitely will be coming back.More

This restaurant is highly rated on Yelp and near our hotel so I opted to go here for dinner without a reservation. This was my first time here. I returned a second time a month later. This review is about both of my dinner experiences....The steak restaurant is located in a strip mall. Our first time we were here for dinner without a reservation, but, were seated immediately. We were very impressed by the décor. All service staff wore masks. I started with their Red Pear cocktail with Absolute pear vodka, mango vodka, and pomegranate juice for $13. I enjoyed a second Red Pear. We started with their 6 raw oysters for $14, which had a nice clean taste. I enjoyed their Signature Dish, 6 ounce Steak 1776 filet mignon plated on mashers and finished with lump crab sauteed in a cream reduction for $40. My filet was properly cooked medium rare. 8 and 10 ounce filets were also available for $43 and $46, respectively. It was also served with asparagus. We also enjoyed a bottle of Apothic red blend for $35 from California. My total bill was $143 less gratuities for our first visit for both of us. I booked my second dinner reservation on Open Table. When we arrived we were seated immediately at their VIP labeled table adjacent to the kitchen entrance. I again started with their Red Pear cocktail. We again started with their 6 raw oysters for $14, which again had a nice clean taste. This time I again tried their Signature Dish, but the larger 8 ounce Steak 1776 filet mignon plated on mashers and finished with lump crab sauteed in a cream reduction for $43. My filet was again properly cooked medium rare, but, did not taste as good or tender as my 6 ounce filet last time. My total bill less gratuities was $106. Our server #76 took care of us. I may return here again although I heard there are other better restaurants in the area for aged steaks. Anyway this place is not so bad.More

I brought my wife for her birthday based on the reviews. We went all out and both got the bone-in Kansas City steak which was aged 44 days for $44 each. When it came out the steak was cooked properly but the taste, tenderness and...presentation wasn’t anything like you would expect from a fine dining experience. The cup of crab and lobster bisque we both had for an appetizer was more like a crab version of Manhattan clam chowder and completely void of anything close to lobster flavor. Overall the lack of quality and finesse for the price we paid is why we do not recommend the 1776.More

Last night 5/17, 4 of us went to 1776 for dinner. We had made reservation for 6:30. We were seated promptly. Each had a drink and soup for starters. 3 had the crab and lobster bisque, I had the French onion. Both were very good....2 had the lamb , 1 had the 1776 steak and I had the 10oz filet mignon. We all chose baked potato and of course we had vegetables too. For dessert we all had the key lime pie and coffee. Our server brought everything in a timely manner and not one mistake in our order. Everything was cooked to perfection. For a Monday night, the restaurant was full. Glad to see people out again and enjoying themselves. This was not our first time eating here and we will return again.More

Our table had a beautiful and excellent Beefburger plate as well as the Black Ravioli Entree ( lobster ravioli in a shrimp and crab chunky sauce ) that was just wonderful. With the caesar & the wedge salads and a huge side of onion rings...that needed a bigger plate, 4 ate well and were very pleased also.More

My wife brought me here for my birthday. Very good experience start to end. The steaks were very well prepared. Service was fast and attentive. Good value for the dollar. This place is a hidden gem in a strip mall. Can't wait to come back.

Went to 1776 Restaurant to celebrate a neighbor's birthday. We were a small group of ten people. We celebrated in a small private room we had to ourselves. We had a server dedicated to our party who did an excellent job meeting our needs. Before...ordering he brought out a big platter of uncooked steaks showing and explaining to us about each one. Let me tell you, these were big steaks. Most of us ordered steak cooked to our preference. Seafood was available and several in the group ordered this. Everyone commented how good both their appetizer and entree was. I enjoyed a 12 oz. NY strip steak cooked medium well. It was perfect. Steak accompanied with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were not cooked enough for me, but that is just me. Most restaurants don't cook green beans the way I like them. Their bread was delicious. We went through several baskets. There was a nice selection of desserts. My key lime pie was delicious. Beer, wine, mixed drinks, coffee, tea and soda are available. It was a very enjoyable evening all the way round. The main part of the restaurant which I only walked through was very nicely decorated. While the food and service is excellent, it is a pricey restaurant. Be prepared to put out some money if you dine here.More

I hate giving bad reviews but I feel I must in order to prevent someone else from paying $200.00 for low quality steaks. Service is good and attentive , however the food is simply awful, Calling this place a steakhouse is insulting to legitimate steak...houses. The steaks they serve here can not be prime.. or they've been frozen for a long time. They were dry, tough and gamey.. I've cooked better steaks I've gotten at Giant. I've gotten better steaks at outback. the price for the quality is outrageous and a rip off. I can not understand how they're still in business.More

My husband were in Rehoboth for the weekend recently and I managed to get a reservation here as my husband loves a good steak. This place is deceiving as it's in a strip mall but as we were waiting for a table a very nice...couple from that area pulled me aside and said that I was going to love their food and mentioned a few things that were her favorite. Well..... let me say it was delicious!! They come out with a huge platter filled with steaks and explain what the highlights are and answer any questions you have. The oysters were some of the best we've had and the steak my husband had was done to perfection. I had fish and would definitely order this again. All in all after the fun weekend we decided it would be a place in the future we would go back to. The owner's wife was our server and the manager were all very attentive. I highly recommend dining here.More
