We stumbled in here on one of the first nights, maybe THE first night, they were opening up after Covid-19 and winter. Dimitri, the host, said something about the few reservations made versus the swarm of people that actually arrived. I think they only had...like 3 people holding down the fort but they were happy to be open and served like pros! The atmosphere is lovely and though I think they were swamped, you couldn't tell. We were so relaxed and they did not rush anyone at all. We ate upstairs outside under a tree with a heater and string lights. They kept our waters filled and the food on our plates was absolutely obliterated! We ate every morsel of everything served! We had lentil meatballs, halibut and beef filet (?). The beef was perfect! The desserts were something dark chocolate and something fruity. Both delicious. This was the best meal on our 12 day road trip!More

I arrived 45 min prior to closing due to the fact that they were one of the only spots open nearby. I hate closing a restaurant but needed dinner. Sat at the bar and was not disappointed. I half expected the usual end of shift...service and food. I was very pleasantly surprised to see the bar staff (Meagan and Corey) busy with end of day but extremely attentive to guests at the bar. I ordered a beer and grouper sandwich. The best grouper I have consumed in over 20 years!! The service was awesome. Very professional and overall the best customer service I’ve seen in a while. Well done. Keep up the great work.More

The menu had unique items that I have not seen anywhere before, things that sound delicious and are delicious, like gorgonzola flan for an appetizer, it was out of this world! The service was excellent. The cocktails were amazing! The social distancing was well implemented....The physical space is charming.More

We ate outside, upstairs. Everything we ordered was marvelous, with each of us three diners anxious to have the other two "Try this. Isn't it great?" Yes, was the answer, every time. A good wine list with a bunch of good selections priced under $35,...a rarity, it seems, nowadays. As for apps and mains, the best things are what you like most; fish, beef, fowl, etc. Each of the six I tasted were outstanding. The venue itself is delightful. The service was top tier. Realistically, though, who goes to the beach for great food and drink? Well, I do and so does my family. AND WE FOUND WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR!More

Dinner for 2, inside. Wine list was very good--many good wines to chose from. Duck confit was quite a generous portion. The grilled lamb chops were very good--tho the sides were skimpy. Desserts options were primarily soft (mousse, etc). Service and ambience were excellent.

One thing you can count on about Rehoboth Beach is that it is always changing. Every year there are new restaurants, shops, parking rules, etc. Very little remains from the town’s quieter past, but one thing that always seems to be there is The Back...Porch. I got a little nervous when I heard last winter that the venerable restaurant was changing hands, but the new owner is a longtime employee who respects what has made them successful for over 45 years. Neither the menu nor the atmosphere underwent any major changes, and my dinner here last Saturday night was proof positive that The Back Porch is still the finest restaurant in the region in every regard. Just reading the descriptions on the menu elicit a Pavlovian response. The ingredients are atypical, and the combinations are bold, but everything harmonizes with such subtlety that both the individual elements and the way they interact with one another are a delight to the palate. Make sure you have put aside some time to savor a meal here...they won’t rush you to turn a table, and expect that you are here to enjoy their hospitality. Service is first-rate and professional, and it’s nice to see familiar employees. Unlike most other restaurants who rely on seasonal help or the mercenaries who hop from joint to joint, it is clear that The Back Porch and their staff have a mutual loyalty that manifests itself in outstanding customer service.More

We had a fabulous dinner at the Back Porch. We requested outdoor seating due to covid and loved our table in the charming courtyard. Our waiter was very professional and friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very creative, very gourmet, and used lots of local...ingredients. The crabmeat ravioli, lobster wedge salad, and sweetbreads were amazing appetizers. The steak, fish, and veal entrees were wonderful with perfectly matched sides. Highly recommend. Wonderful choice of cocktails and wine. Leave room to at least share a dessert. Will go back with every trip to the beach.More

We visited the Back Porch Cafe this summer for the first time. We had the roasted beets salad which came with a beet root hummus which was out of this world. For the main course, we ordered the cocoa rubbed pork tenderloin which was prepared...to perfection. I wasn't particularly fond of the side of black bean polenta, it was bland and uninspiring. Overall, we would visit again as the food is delicious and inventive, and the atmosphere is friendly.More

My best memory of this place was a crab bisque when try as I might I could not find even a particle of a shell in this luscious light cream broth loaded with fresh sweet crab. This was the romantic night out for me and...my husband when we had our family vacation here every year. I don’t know if they still serve this, but I have been here for brunch several times in recent history, and found it equally as exquisite. Haven’t been there yet this summer but last summer my favorite was a beet salad with poached egg. Romantic porch tucked away, and sometimes they have live dinner music.More

We've been here several times for brunch, particularly during the Rehoboth Jazz Festival. Busy place! The food is generally very good and ample portions. We like the eclectic menu options. I had the chicken salad and my husband opted for the fish cake, which was...a bit too salty. Overall, a good place for brunch with a rustic, friendly atmosphere.More
