We forgot to call in a reservation on a worm midweek evening, but were seated at the bar within 19 minutes despite the original 30-40 minute estimate. We like Salt Air because it is quiet enough for conversation, because the food is unusually good and attractively served and because the staff are knowegeable, thoughtful and friendly. The crab devilled eggs provided a novel light appetizer - nicely set off by the mild candied jalopeno on the top. DW enjoyed the delicate cream of crab soup. For entrees, DW had the Avocado toast with Dubliner cheese and salads. I had the seafood stew, which blends 5 types of seafood in an tomato-based broth without the excess salt that so often accompanies bouillibases. Portions were large and we brought plenty home for tomorrow. However, two concerns reduced my ranking from 5 stars to 4. The main courses took a long time to come out and the menu had not changed in a month and offered no specials. Despite these minor problems, the professionalism of the Salt Air operation and the pleasant atmosphere will likely bring me back.

Thank you for your feedback! We are glad you enjoyed your visit. Yes, it was busy last night and we apologize for any delays. We print our menus daily and while some dishes do remain as a constant on our menu we change items on a daily basis depending upon the sustainability of the item. There are times we do have a handsell that is not on the menu. Thursday nights we offer 1/2 price wine by the bottle if that wine is sold by the glass. WE hope to see you again!

Our first dining experience since restaurants started a slow and limited opening. Seating was properly spaced with tables not in use decorated to encourage a cozy dining atmosphere. Servers and staff were flawless in providing a truly enjoyable experience from seating to a freshly prepared inspired meal. The food is always great here. The soft shells were delicious. Steak was cooked to perfection. Lovely evening. Looking forward to going back!

We made a reservation over the phone. We had to wear our masks upon entrance. We were seated far away from others. The crackers and dip are addictive! I had clams as a starter and then the day boat scallops. They were huge! It was delicious. My other half had crab deviled eggs to start and then devoured the shrimp and andouille sausage. The meal and service were impeccable.

From the beginning it was obvious the wait staff didn't want to be there and they had just opened for the night. It wasn't as thought it was at the end of shift. Ordered the deviled eggs for a starter....we're still searching for any crab meat...forget lump crab meat. The scallop entree consisted of 4 small scallops with a plate full of tasteless corn....very dissatisfying for $38 !

We we walked by Salt Air in Rehoboth,DE on a weeknight - 3rd week of September. Gave our name to the hostess and was told it would be a 25 minute wait. We (a party of two) we’re seated promptly with-in 20 minutes. Asked our server for recommendations. We placed our order for a cocktail, salad and entrees. Within 15 minutes our entrees were brought to our table by a food runner. No drinks or salad. We were dumbfounded. “Salt Air suggests; they are causal fine dinning $$$.” Our waiter apologized and stated he would get our missing drink & salad and have them comped. The drink arrived 10 minutes after our entrees and the salad never came. We paid our tab with a 15% gratuity and left. No visit from a dinning room Mgr. Unacceptable. The $85.00 was a waste of money.

I sat on the sidewalk with a refreshing blueberry vodka drink, with fresh blueberries and lemonade, and an equally refreshing crab gazpacho loaded with tomatoes, bell peppers, squash, and jumbo lump crab on top. Soft shell crabs were the special tonight, fried in a tempura batter. The batter was a bit overwhelming, and a bit soggy under the fat juicy crabs. The crabs were as fresh as they come though, so if you like tempura, you would love this. I would order this dish again, but would ask them to cook it a bit longer to firm up the juices inside a bit more. Friendly efficient service.

Reservations recommended for Friday nights. We had two appetizers, the marinated olives (very delicious) and the crab deviled eggs. I think they were both excellent. Really like the toasted slice of jalapeno on the eggs to round out the sweetness. Our server recommended a very nice Cabernet for our meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the shrimp and grits (this also had Andouille sausage but I ordered it for the shrimp). The grist were cheesy and creamy and really good. The shrimp were (I guess) sauteed. They were perfectly cooked, very very tender. Some spinach and other veg's rounded out the dish. I don't really like Andouille sausage so I wasn't surprised I didn't care for it. My husband ordered the filet which he said was cooked to perfection. It is advertised as an 8 oz. filet but it might have been a bit more. He thoroughly enjoyed it and the mashed and veg. that accompanied it. Since it was our anniversary we decided to order dessert and shared a piece of the chocolate cake (served with raspberry sorbet). The cake was really good - it could have served four and we couldn't finish it. But the raspberry sorbet was delightful and we left not a drop of that. Lovely dinner. The decor is always beautiful. We've been here many times before. It does not disappoint.

Different eclectic menu. Excellent food. Presentation was spot on. We had dietary restrictions with needing to split dishes and kitchen and wait staff very accommodating for all of our tweaks. Definitely found a new best place to eat!

It is hard to reconcile how this place has so many fabulous reviews given our experience tonight. My daughter and I went to celebrate her birthday. I told the hostess and the waitress this. The waitress used this fact to push her to order a drink in celebration. We ordered halloumi skewers as an appetizer, the crab cakes and the tofu dish. I really did not think any of the food was that great. I thought that the halloumi skewers would have been roasted or warm. It was just cheese, tomato and onion on a stick. Nothing great or even interesting. The crab cake had a lot of crab shell in it. I told the waitress who told the manager. The manager acted like there is supposed to be shell in crab cakes!! They were hard little pieces of shell that I showed the manager. Anyhow, as appropriate, they removed the dish from the bill and gave us the check. There was no friendliness or even professionality throughout. And they did not offer us a dessert menu!! Knowing that it was my daughter's birthday!! We just paid AND gave a 15% tip because I don't believe in punishing the help. It was just weird. The night before we went to Shorebreak Lodge and it was wonderful. I recommend going there instead. It was fabulous.

This restaurant does NOT accept online reservations. When we called to make a reservation the phone rang busy all afternoon, although a previous message said that you could call "after 1:00pm" to make a reservation. We stopped by the restaurant to see if we could get in. They had nothing available until late. When we told them about the phone problems.... They said.... "the phone has been ringing off the hook, so we just took it off so we wouldn't have to keep answering it. Is that any way to run a business. Better management and a better attitude are certainly needed.

During a June trip to Rehoboth, we were struggling to find a restaurant to accommodate our large party outside, even at the early hour of 5pm. (Note to travelers - the Delaware beach towns are packed these days.) After being (rudely) turned away at several places, we were relieved to find the staff at Salt Air very welcome and accommodating. They moved some tables to help get us seated and were very attentive throughout our meal. Like many Rehoboth restaurants, they are both popular and short staffed at the moment, but the service and communication were the best we experienced during our stay. The food is excellent, and we would definitely return.

This is the second time we've visited Salt Air. We weren't sure what our plans were for the evening and then decided to stop in early (5:30) without a reservation to see if they could fit us in. We lucked into what's basically a private table on the outside of the bar that gave us a view of everything, but without the noise of the bar. The restaurant seemed to be fully staff, the atmosphere is great, and the attention we received from our waitstaff was outstanding. Leaning heavily to seafood (of course), we were able to find two entrees we both enjoyed. Prices have risen a bit since our last visit, but they have at other comparable restaurants in the area as well. We enjoyed our visit and will return during our next trip in September. Important note - strongly suggest having reservations in advance as the place fills up quickly and regular dinner hours are booked solid, especially on the weekends.

The food was good, most of us got a fish dish. Restaurant is very loud when busy. Decor was A LOT to look at - fall leaves and pumpkins on steroids. Only have 2 one toilet bathrooms that could have been monitored better (ran out of saop) - but the need more bathrooms for the size of the restaurant. I despise a waiter that seems to say it's his favorite dish no matter what you order.

We were look forward to our meal at Salt Air. We were so disappointed. The shrimp fry was overcooked and served as a messy plate of undistinguishable brown items. The filet was also overdone despite our dining companion’s request. And they took their name to heart with the amount of salt in all of our dishes. Waitstaff inexplicably and continuously tried to remove our plates despite all of us obviously still dining and many empty tables available around us. Not sure what happened as we have always loved Salt Air.

The restaurant presents a peaceful ambiance even before you step through the door. We were a group of four. We all opened with their exceptional house salad which was crisp, zingy and fresh. My scallops were done perfectly, the pasta was perfectly ever so slightly al dente and the desserts were splendid, accompanied by fresh decaf. Each of us ordered differently with the same result. Our waiter was very attentive and, as the meal wound down but conversation had not, he assured us twice that the table was ours until we decided to move on. This is the way that every meal with old friends should be conducted and we appreciated that accommodation by our waiter and by Salt Air.
