We purchased a fundraiser meal through La Casa Pasta that supported one of the local schools. We simply clicked on the Curbside to Go link on La Casa Pasta's page, selected the family meal designated as the school fundraiser, selected our preferred pickup time and...entered any desired comment. We entered that we preferred a house salad in place of the Cesar salad and checked out on their website. We immediately received an email stating that our meal was going to be ready shortly. This was a little confusing since the fundraiser was ONE specific night in February & we had to pick up our meal on the given date AT THE SCHOOL. I contacted La Casa Pasta by phone to ensure that our meal was indeed being delivered to the school on the given fundraiser date & was NOT going to be ready in 30 minutes. Staff answering the phone was VERY RUDE and short with me. She was not very pleasant at all. I know she was probably receiving several similar calls from other fundraiser participants, but she didn't have to be so rude. She did state that it would be delivered to the school on the fundraiser date & that she couldn't do anything about patrons receiving erroneous messages.
On the date of the school fundraiser, we picked up our meal at the selected time at the school. Food was ready and packaged nicely in aluminum containers. Our family meal (feeds 4-5) contained 5 chicken parmigiana cutlets, penne pasta with pink sauce, 8 meatballs, a house salad, a half a loaf of bread and 8 mini cannoli. The temperature of the food we received was COLD. Nothing was warm or even luke warm when we received it. That was perfect for the salad and mini cannoli, but we had to reheat all the hot foods. That kind of defeated one of the purposes of ordering a meal (not having to cook), however, the school did receive a portion of the price.
The food: Chicken Parmigiana was very good. The chicken was all white meat and very tender. Breading, sauce and cheese were delicious. Penne pasta was just OK. The pasta was very dry as it had little to no sauce on it. Also, I did not care for the pink sauce. I prefer a red sauce. I did NOT like the meatballs at all. They had some weird seasoning to them. I believe the meatballs were a blend of veal, pork and beef so that may be why I think the taste was off. I prefer ALL beef meatballs. My husband enjoyed them, but myself and the kids did not. Bread was very good. We all enjoyed it. We would have gladly eaten a whole loaf, but only a half loaf was included in the meal. Salad was good & I was pleased that we did receive the HOUSE salad instead of a Cesar salad. I had requested Italian salad dressing, which was basically an oil. We did not like the dressing. The cannoli were very tasty, however, the shells were not filled completely. Several of the cannoli had cheese in the ends, but not in the center. Plus the cheese filling had very little chocolate chips in it. You had to search for one in each cannoli. Some had no chocolate chips. I felt like they skimped.
Overall, I was happy with the Chicken Parmigiana that we received for our family meal. It was very good. That has always been my favorite item on their menu anyways. I would not recommend the meatballs. Price was fair for what we received. Online ordering was simple. Phone service was rude and food was served up COLD so I was not impressed with the service.More
