For the past two years since discovering Jessops, we have had meals for lunch and dinner and also different seasons. The staff is dressed in Colonial attire and the service is attentive and extremely polite. Rare. The attention to not only the superb food and generous quantities, but to serving detail is impeccable. You will eat off pewter plates. Your... More

Came to new castle for a day visit. Was recommended Jessops. Friendly greeting at door, waitress pleasant. Ordered meatloaf sandwich and crab cake in a roll along with sweet potato fries. Crab cake was tasty but fries were cold ( don't know if they're supposed to be!) meatloaf was ok, could've done with more seasoning. Old tavern, I would certainly... More

We live in the area and often go to New Castle, as we enjoy its quaintness. Jessop's is a very cozy and old world place to dine. All of dinning has been great. They also have a great craft bear selection. My wife and I highly recommend Jessop's

Old New Castle is unique, in that (unlike Williamsburg, VA) this town is still original, and not re-created. Jessop's is in a row house that was built in the 1600's as a private residence. You won't find better historic ambience anywhere. The food, while just average, is pub food. I have had both the Dutch pot roast, and the Shepherd's... More

Stopped in for dinner on our way home from Philly on a cold, rainy Saturday night. Showed up about 45 minutes early for our 7:00 reservation, but they were able to seat us right away. Great beer menu and server was knowledge about it. She made 2 very good recommendations for us. Upscale tavern fare menu with reasonable prices. Had... More

Old Colonial tavern with period recipes on some of the dishes...like Shepards Pie and Roast beef. Tasty and plentiful. Partner had baked salmon which she declared, "Terrific." Roast beef was most like pulled pork, but tasty, served with a gravy topping which would have benefited with a couple additional tablespoons full. Belgian beers on tap. Excellent but a bit pricey... We stopped for lunch last week. Our first visit. Very nice colonial atmosphere and good service. We had pot pie. My wife had the chicken, and I had the steak and ale. Both were very good with plenty of meat, vegetables, and just the right amount of gravy. Topped with very light and flaky crusts that were perfectly baked to... More

Cozy colonial atmosphere. Specializes in large selection of beers. Soups are original and hearty. Traditional crab cakes and rich ice creams.

My wife and I are "regulars" and usually stop in once a week. The dining rooms are nice (they are "cozy") but we sit at the bar for dinner and a show. The bar staff are all great and chatting with the locals always leads to interesting stories. The food...well you better be hungry! The food is great and the... More
