Called for lunch at this tavern after a stroll through the historic town of New Castle. The waiting staff dress in period costume, which actually nearly stopped me going there as I feared it may simply cater for the tourist trade without focus on quality or value for money. However, my fears were unfounded as the food was very good... More

Jessop's has a wide selection of beer, including Belgian and the pub food to go with it. Their fish & chips is good as is the huge portion of shepherd's pie. For lighter fare, they offer a good roasted veggie sandwich and good salads. Service is friendly. They also have good desserts and specialty ice cream.

This was our first time having lunch at Jessop's Tavern. We came at the end of the lunch hour and the tavern was quite. Our sandwiches were good but the fries were very good. Desert is large. I suggest either splitting or wait until you see the portion size. If you are a beer drinker than this would be a... More

I am lucky enough to live within walking distance of Jessups. Been coming here for years and it's fun to go on your own, on a date, or with a group of friends. They have an incredible beer menu. If they don't have what you're looking for talk to the owner about ordering it. One of the beauties of Jessups... More

Jessop's Tavern is a friendly place with a bit of Williamsburg want-to-be. However, the food was abundant and delicious. Everyone was friendly. They have an extensive Belgian ale menu. It was a book!

Colonial charm, good food, outstanding beer selection! Located in heart of historic New Castle just off The Green, wait staff in period costume. Great lunch or beer stop follow with walk around town. Split a very good Tavern salad with chicken and steak accompanied by seafood chowder and sweet potato fries with devilish carmel sauce. Visit Visitors Center and The... More

Had fried oysters, London broil, and "motor oil" ice cream. All were perfection. This restaurant has superb food, wonderful atmosphere and good service. Don't miss it!

Great location with an outstanding beer menu, a full menu of Belgium bottled beer (300+). Great draft beer menu. Very good food menu in a colonial America setting. A great atmosphere, highly recommended!

Loved everything about this place! My husband took me to new castle for a romantic birthday weekend. The historic town was having a Christmas festival at the time and this restaurant was right in the middle of it all. The food was amazing, the staff welcoming and the atmosphere romantic and elegant! If you are a history buff you will... More

We received a gift card to Jessop's Tavern 3 years ago, but because it was quite a distance from our home, it was difficult to find time to make the trip. Finally, after a visit to Philadelphia, we made a detour to New Castle on our way home just so we could use our gift. We were so glad we... More
