MIDDLETOWN FINALLY GETS A RESTAURANT TO CROW ABOUT!

Anyone who has read any of my reviews knows I am not a fan of the food in Middletown (or Delaware for that matter). Mostly made up of food chains or pretentious overpriced eateries that don't deliver even on moderate expectations. My wife and I decided to give Curry & Cocktails a try for lunch the other day and for the first time since the now defunct Pho Nhu Vu (ironically formerly housed in the same space a few years back) I have a restaurant in Middletown that I can call a "go to place" for quality food. For those who haven't sampled Indian Cuisine, the flavors are bold and the dishes are colorful. It's a traditionally spicy cuisine, but the owner asked about spice level while taking our order. They will acclimate your personal threshold on heat levels. We ordered medium heat which was spicy but not extreme. If you are not a fan of a lot of heat, ask for it mild. This is a perfect place for a family night out to try some interesting dishes. For first timers, I suggest the Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Curry, both dished come with Basmati Rice and a side. I recommend the Dal Tadka (a lentil dish) or Chana Masala (a chic pea dish) for the side dish. For appetizers the Vegetable Samosa and Aloo Tikki are good starters. It would be wise to order some Naan Bread even though a good portion comes with the meal, the sauces in the dishes are very tasty and that extra naan with help finish it up. I think children would be open to these flavors if they are at least a little bit adventurous. Curry & Cocktails is also good for a date night, with many exotic cocktails and sharable plates. The Lunch Specials are very reasonably priced. $11 for Chicken Tikka Masala is very fair and my wife and I ordered it to share along with some appetizers and some Naan Bread. We shared a Falooda drink for desert (an ice cream sudae with basil seeds and some other exotic flavors). We enjoyed this desert, but it is a little odd as it has long thin noodles in it. It really doesn't effect the taste of the drink, but it is not something that you'd expect in an ice cream sundae. As I stated earlier, Middletown has not had a good track record regarding restaurants and I urge everyone to please support this new establishment. It's clean, the meals are made fresh, it s fun and best of all, the food is delicious.

Great food but the service isn’t consistent!

We usually get take out from Curry’s & Cocktails but decided today to dine in today since we were using a Groupon we purchased a few months back. First off, I was surprised when I saw them on Groupon but jumped at it as soon as I saw it. As usual the food was amazing! Actually much better in the restaurant compared to take out. All in all, regardless of how you decide to indulge just indulge it is delicious. The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 is because our service was lacking. We were greeted right away, brought drinks timely and got a visit from the owner early on, off to a great start. While asking about the menu, lunch specials compared to dinner entrees we were told you can ask for extra rice anytime if needed. Welp towards the end when we were boxing up our food we asked for more rice. They provide rice in the beginning but not enough for two entrees. The amount they provide dining in doesn’t come close to the amount that they give when you order take out. Understandable because of how it’s served, which I thought was a great touch! Anyway, the table next to us also ordered rice as they were boxing up their food. The server brought them each individual rices, 3 of them to be exact, filled to the brim, no extra charge. For us, the server brought one half filled container of rice and told us to use remainder rice we have on the table to fill up the rest. Sure that’s fine, no problem you’d think, right? Sadly, there was a problem when the server brought us our bill surprise!! We were charged extra for the rice. Wait??!! I thought you said we can ask for extra rice whenever?? Also you brought us one half filled bowl of rice for two people who ordered two different entrees. How were we different from the table that received 3 individual filled containers who ordered 3 different entrees. How is there a charge for a half filled bowl of rice? He responded by saying the extra rice is only while eating in the restaurant not to go????!!! That doesn’t make sense, I said. So I should have asked for the rice prior to asking for to go boxes to avoid the charge??? The table next to us didn’t have this problem so this was indeed shocking to us. Finally, after a short debate the server admitted he was wrong and took the charge for the extra rice off. This experience probably will not prevent me from ordering or visiting again because I truly believe the lack of integrity sits with the server not the business. However, I hope this review prevents others from being over charged at the discretion of the server.

Very Pleasantly surprised

My spouse and I are neither familiar with, nor devoted fans of, Indian cuisine. After our visit to Curry and Cocktails, though, that may change. We'd driven by the facility, but not until reading of the restaurant in a local magazine, did we visit its website. When on the site, as we read through the multiple menu offerings, there were exclamations of, "Ooh, that sound good!". So, a few days later, we visited for dinner. Server Maya was exceptional, with a broad knowledge of the menu, a patient manner in describing and explaining the offerings, and overall quality table service....timely without hovering or rushing. She looked after us, with instructions to the kitchen of "No Cilantro", which the kitchen staff, to their credit, saw and followed. Our shared appetizer was Vegetable Manchurian alongside garlic naan...tasty, flavorful, nicely hot, and thoroughly enjoyed. Entrees were Chicken Kadai and Chicken Cashmere. They were different from one another, and sampling of one another's fare, we agreed that both were flavorful. The Chicken Cashmere, though, didn't reach the level of hot spiciness which had been requested. Size was large, with enough leftovers brought home for second meals. There was no room for dessert. As we finished up, the owner stopped by the table, asked us of our experience, and allowed us to share thoughts and provide real time feedback. He and his staff are working hard to develop and deliver a quality product and experience. They are off to a fine start. We plan on returning.

Very little food for high price

I got take out and paid over 20 dollars for one meal and the portion of rice for the price of entree was incredibly small. Food tasted okay. I would never go back or order there again.

My Daughter and I visited on Sunday July 11, 2021. We have been here numerous times in the past but the last 2 times we have seen it just going down. This past Sunday, there was no toilet paper nor paper towels to dry ypur hands. There was a sign on the door asking to excuse the lighting in the bathroom. They have placed a pole lamp with 3 lights coming dow the pole and no lamp shade coverings over the lights. There is the plastic still on the pull and I thought if these light bulbs continue to stay on as bright as they are, there could be a possible fire. The Service was horrible. I got up from my seat 6

We really enjoy the food, staff, and atmosphere of the reataurant. We bring others with us and both times everyone was very happy with the quality of the food. Will be back again and the portions are always enough for the next day to enjoy. The staff and owner are very friendly and welcoming.

This spot at the end of a shopping center has a very nice, understated interior. The menu is extensive, and the prices modest. The shrimp vindaloo was very flavorful without being too hot, and the lamb in coconut, cashews and raisins was delicious. Naan with fruit and nuts very well prepared also. We will definitely return for more great food.

Visiting in-laws, we suggested Indian food. They hadn't tried Curry & Cocktails, but wanted to. We ordered four dishes and two breads. All the dishes were excellent. Middle spice was pleasant, but not fiery. Both breads were very good, and we particularly enjoyed the Peshawari Naan. Overall, a very solid restaurant, and an enjoyable meal.

This is an excellent Indian restaurant. Beautifully decorated with full bar and excellent service. The owner Sidhnarth loves his creation. Each entree was a delight, served piping hot. Vegetarian appetizers were outstanding. Portions of each item were large. Food quality par excellence. Nikki our server did a sincere job as well. Overall, dinner experience was outstanding. Bravo Sidhdharth, we would love to visit here again with family.

From the service to the food, everything is just amazing!! The owner is very congenial and always checks in with you, to see how everything is going. This is our second time there, just terrific!! Worth the hour drive, we cannot wait to go back!!

This was our second time at the restaurant and we love it. The staff is very nice and attentive. The food is ... yummy...really hard to choose or have a favorite. Spicy but not too spicy. Hot but not too hot. Sweat and smooth at the same time...so yeah...go there and try it yourself.

Took a 2 hour drive from South Jersey after hearing such good things about C&C & let me tell you it was worth every penny ...The food , ambience , service everything was top notch..tandoori mixed grill was my personal favorite & don’t forget to order FALOODA for your desert ..will visit again for sure . Keep up the good work
