Horrible! Only doing this review because for 3 weeks I have called weekly and they haven't responded back. Made reservation received a call immediately because we had a special request 2 of our party will be having a birthday. The Manager set it all up...on the call, that was great. The day of we called as we were traveling hours to get there to meet family, Will the host, didn't even know if there was a parking lot to park in or not. He said he guess we could park wherever. We arrived he couldn’t find us on the hand written reservation book, but there were only 2 parties on there 1 was ours. Half of our party was there and they had to come get us. By the way our table was to the left of the reservation check in. The server was too consumed with his cell phone the entire time as there was our table and 1 other table and they were leaving making us the only table in the restaurant. We sat for 15 mins. before the server came over. He ran through the menu we orders and every time we ordered they were out of it. He said they cut their steak in house daily, we ordered ribeye, nope they were out, we ordered sirloin, nope they were out, ok do you have NY strip, he had to go check. He said the female chef said she guess she could cut some. WHAT? One of the elderly guests at our table ordered it well done and the server said YUK you want a hamburger than why would you do that to your steak. And started laughing and said I guess we will do that. When the guest said I like a little pink but that is all but no one cooks it that way so I get it well done. And I said you don’t need to justify how you want your steak cooked. One guess asked for their burger but without the bun and more rude comments. How rude of this server and disrespectful and this is a restaurant run by retired Military people, wow. We ordered orange juice and cranberry juice and they watered it down and the servers said they needed to make it stretch. Seriously, wow! He took our salads while we were still eating them. Literally mid eating. We asked for mayo 2x. We never got the desserts, I went to find server, he was on his cell phone, again, and said we preplanned this and the server said the manager f’ed up didn’t tell us oh well. WHAT? Brought the check, nothing in the folder, went to find him again, on his cell phone again. They have been I business 10 years they said, I guess people like this type of services but for a 4 hours round trip, not worth it. They didn’t even bother to call back resulting in this review.More

The hostess was in a really bad mood and we then sat for over 25 minutes without seeing our waitress. They did not even tell us we had to scan the thing on our table for the menu. Then we waited over an hour for...terrible food. Definitely won't go back.More

We had a 90th Birthday party for almost 40 people (including kids) upstairs. Diana is very helpful planning the food menu, and the service was great! It's hard to find a smaller venue in the Dover area that doesn't cost an arm and a leg....It was a HOT and humid day in August, but we were pleasantly surprised that they were able to keep it so comfortable upstairs!More

The Grey Fox Grill and Public House, Dover DE. Located on North Street is a pleasant home that was nicely transformed into a quaint dinner place with a nice menu. We were bombarded by a waitress who was so interested in selling us drinks that...she hardly had time to help us through the menu. The cause is directly related to the fact that they do not have paper menus, and guests must use their own electronics to read a menu. There are no provisions for folks who would rather read from paper, and for the elderly who are not adept in using technology. To make matters worser, the tablets, etc., are moved from table to table without being wiped with disinfectant to clean them between customers. The food was acceptable, but the menu distraction was most disappointing. And to repeat, they seem to be driven by alcohol sales and it is most distractingMore

Beautiful place. Nice staff. Nothing special about the food. Had pork dumplings starter very little flavor but nice crisp fry. Partner ordered wedge salad with steak medium rare. Unfortunately medium to well. Had seasoning but not cooked to order. I had fettuccine Alfredo with local...made sausage. The sausage was not to my liking, but that is a personal thing. The fettuccine Alfredo was NOT fettuccine but a much thinner noodle and had a weird taste. Hard to describe but not “worth the calories” as stated in menu. Only saved by a large portion of hog pepper flakes. Tried pineapple upside down cake for dessert. Or what you think/more like a pineapple gelee with cake. No caramelization. Did have a nice local blueberry blend wine. We ate dessert because we DID enjoy the trivia night contest. Even won & hit a gift certificate which we could not use that night. Doubt we’ll be back. Oh wellMore

So good to be back after the pandemic in this old historic house. The food was terific! The house-made salad croutons are light & super-tasty! The steak & the bacon wrapped shrimp were fantastic. Enjoyed the free birthday dessert, too - apple-caramel crisp a la`mode!...Will go back again soon!More

We stopped by here after an afternoon in Dover. This was just a place we found but sounded interesting. We stopped in, first this place has great character. It is old but has great ambiance. We had the tacos of the day and the chicken...and bacon flatbread both great. They had half price martini's, I had cosmos for about $5 and they were excellent. We did not get the bartenders name but he really was great. Also, met a person there who is a regular, great talking with Bill. He let us know that the place used to be a mortuary and then shared some ghost stories along with one of the waitresses there and all of it was fascinating. they have live music it is only a dinner place and I know we only had a small sampling but you have got to go here. We will be back.More

Hi! This is a great find in Dover Delaware! The salmon taco tonight was absolutely delicious and very flavorful! . The Chef flash fries the shell so it is very flaky, the pesto aioli is homemade from the owner's basil garden, the salmon is plentiful;...the chilies add a small spice to it all. You can't beat the price: 3 for $10.50 and they were good size! In addition, they make all their own dressings and croutons. The entrees come with fresh salad including olives! The staff is amazing esp the bartender who handle all the bar customers as well as tables. The Owner was very sociable and gave us a historic account of the building and how she redesigned the building into an amazing restaurant!More

We all know the problems restaurants have been having with closures and staffing, but this place has survived and thrived! They have been through a tough year, and even with staffing shortages, new rules, and restrictions, they still put out amazing food. Their chefs are...all trained and it shows. The bartenders are excellent and can make a Manhatten perfectly! The outdoor area is in need of attention, and When I said something I was told a complete renovation is scheduled for this month! I cant wait to see it. We WILL be going back! You can spend a couple of dollars less at a chain... but WHY??!!More

Frame of reference - we eat at Taco Bell and Morton's and everything in between. We are not overly picky about anything really. We went to the Grey Fox with a large group (in town for a lacrosse tourney). The staff could not be more...accommodating (our numbers of folks coming to dinner frequently changed and they were very accommodating for all of it. The good was very good as well. It was a very good evening that we had at the Grey Fox.More

Local restaurant on a Friday night, we have 6:00 o'clock reservations and we were seated as soon as we arrived, the only good experience of the evening. No menu's available, told to scan a CRQ code for the menu, ok a lot of places did...that for covid. Online menu was kind of clunky and hard to use, when asked a single paper menu showed up for 4 people and then another and then 2 more, finally everybody had a paper menu. 2 of use ordered starters from the online menu. only one starter showed up and we had one side plate for four people, took awhile to get 3 additional CLEAN side plates. One of the starters never showed up when we inquired, we where told they don't have that anymore we should not order from the online menu. All four of us ordered entrees from the paper menu. Of the four orders only one of them was remotely close to what was ordered, we had to make substitutions for the other 3 entrees, 2 asked for asparagus and they substituted squash without asking. Finally after an hour and fifteen minutes we all had some type of food in front of us, it was tepid at best on not very flavorful, Absolute waste of our time and Money.More

We stopped in Dover and as it was not our final destination we did not do much research for restaurants. As we drove up and down Route 13 trying to find a place that did not look like a chain restaurant (or worse) the Grey...Fox Grille popped up on Google. We are glad it did. They serve good food in an excellent atmosphere. The house where the restaurant is housed appears to be revolutionary era architecture. It is lovely inside and out. We got there on the late side of what appears to have been a busy day for an under staffed wait and kitchen staff. Who did an excellent job under the circumstances. They had run out of a lot of sides and main dishes. That's ok, at least we knew it was fresh. The crab cakes were excellent, as was the New York strip I ordered -the others in my party were equally pleased. I would like to have had a chance to visit on a less busy and better stocked day to get the full experience of this restaurant. Alll in alll it was a solid choice for us and we were pleased.More
