I recommend the shirt rib ravioli and the chickpea fritter which is more like a patty. The homemade ricotta panelle in the chickpea fittest is very creamy. Server was knowledgeable and helpful. Prices were reasonable for lunch, and the portions were sizable.

I don’t think you could find fresher pasta although The pork chop is amazing cooked on a green egg. Great service and food at a reasonable price. I totally recommend for a great meal whether meeting family or friends

The food is always good and the service is too. Small and cozy summer outside and winter inside. The summer eggplant is the best ever.

Returned after two years. The wonderful little eight-seat bar we loved to sit in now has a TELEVISION for no reason. Beautiful dinner music playing when arrived was changed via ‘Alexa” to a steady annoying fast beat type. Food still good but atmosphere lost.

We were meeting friends to celebrate a birthday 🍷 We brought several bottles of wine to enjoy the evening. Waitress Catherine was perfect for our table explaining the choices of the night. The Pork chop was outstanding along with the steak tips entree. Thank you...Dennis for the Lemon cello after dinnerMore

Three of us had lunch here and sat outside on the front patio, the weather was great and the atmosphere relaxing . We all ordered the pate and I had a side of fries which were fantastic and the pate service was just the best,...we really enjoyed it and ate every bit there was. The service was great and our overall experience made us want to go back, super little place.More

I was part of a group of 10 people celebrating a friends anniversary. I eat there occasionally but felt like I was in a rut always ordering the same thing. Well, they have expanded their special's menu and viola, I had soo many choices. I...know that they grill on a Big Green Egg which is a huge plus since that is the best way to grill. The food comes out juicy and delicious. I have a Big Green Egg at home and cook everything on it. The wood charcoal and high heat make for great grilling. Anyway, everyone at the table was blown away by the delicious meals we had, the service was perfect and the limoncello was a nice touch at the end of the feast complements of the house. For choices, their chicken, pork, and Sunday Gravy(pasta bollinaise) are always excellent. They make their own pasta. There are home made pizza on the menu which are great starters. I had swordfish on this dining experience and it was to die for. If you go, and you must, make reservations. You won't be disappointed.More

I stopped by John's Cafe after a business meeting and was glad I did. I had an incredibly good dish of bucatini pasta with homemade bolognese sauce and a side order of excellent broccoli rabe. A wonderful meal!

John's Cafe is the best restaurant in Woodbury, hands down. Since I spend many weekends in the area, I have a good comparison with other dining establishments. John's Cafe's chef is a true professional and the staff is courteous and fun. The menu is diverse...and prices, considering the quality of the food, very fair. The decor and the atmosphere are casual while festive, exactly what you would want on a weekend in the country. Highly recommended.More

We hadn't made a reservation but were seated anyway with a recommendation for next time. I can see why! It got very busy and somewhat noisy. But the service was cheerful and the food was absolutely delishious! Including dessert!

I'm not familiar with restaurants in this part of Connecticut so this was my first time at John's. We were celebrating a friends birthday who lives close by. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately even though they seemed very busy. They offered lunch specials,...prix fixe, and other choices on a small but varied menu. I had the hanger steak with fries. Delicious! Cook to perfection and just enough for lunch. The room was a bit noisy but very welcoming and cozy. The others in my party had the lunch specials and were very pleased, especially with the Butternut soup. The waitress/hostess was attentive and fun. She made our lunch that much more enjoyable ..More
