It was wonderful. The garden tables were enchanting as expected but the covered tables near the bar also had a very classy ambience. The service was very good, the wine selection by the Glass or by the bottle was generous. The wagyu bavette beef steak with chipotle rub and béarnaise was surprisingly large for the price, sliced beautifully and cooked to perfection. Two of us ordered the seared tuna which was fantastic but note the very unique preparation of wok vegetables accompaniment.
We will return again as this meal was a highlight

Walking into Le Tamirin is like walking into an intimate garden dinner party. The grounds are spectacular and breathtaking. We ordered Fois Gras as an appetizer which was delicious. I wasn't impressed with the cocktails. We were also charged for an extra drink they mistakenly brought. (this seems to happen at every restaurant in SB - be careful) The waiter really was clueless but he was accompanied by what i think was a manager who knew what he was doing. Normally don't order chicken, but theirs was the best i ever had. Tried the Penne pasta dish, although simple it was perfectly done. I would go back but i would skip cocktails.

You can’t beat the garden setting— beautiful during the day , and magically lit at night. A great menu, and the kitchen produces. Friendly very helpful staff. My only complaint is that it all felt a bit pressured— two seatings at dinner , so they move you along. The atmosphere seemed stressed — waiters and managers literally running, loud shouts from the kitchen— it felt a bit tense in paradise. But that may be what it takes to be a great restaurant at a busy time on island...

I came with great expectations to this highly rated restaurant. Staying very close by, I showed up at about 6:45 pm without a reservation, but hoping to beat the crowd. Only a few guests had started to gather, and I did not see anyone seated in the large beautifully decorated and romantically lit garden. Even so, the manager declared that he had 124 people booked and I had to sit at the bar.
I found myself right in front of a frantically working bartender, on an uncomfortable chair in a noisy environment. I decided to make it a quick dinner.
The food arrived swiftly (mine was probably the first order). I have had much more flavorful Mahi-mahi elsewhere, although the sweet potato pureee deserves high marks. I often dine at restaurants with the price level of Tamarin, but this was simply overpriced.
As I left after about half an hour, few guests were actually seated. I did not feel welcomed.

Dear Reslysten54,
Greetings from Tamarin St Barth.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience among us.
Kindly note that we feel really sorry for this misunderstanding.
However, indeed, booking is recommended on the weekend nights for the few tables in the garden as they are very appreciated.
Moreover, as you may know, the weather wasn't that good these days and the team has to be prepared to move everybody from the garden into the main room as well.
We would like to apologize if you didn't feel welcomed among us as we are committed to provide the best welcome and tasty food to every guests at Tamarin.
Rest assured we'll definitely spread the words to the team.
We hope to have the chance to welcome you back and offer you the best experience.
Warmest regards,
Justine

Honestly not in the top tier of St Bart’s restaurants. It is situated in a lovely garden, well lit at night. You are created by a tremendously friendly gentleman and seated under the wooden gazebo. If the dinner had ended there, I would have certainly ranked higher. However, the rest was disappointing
Bought the food sounded interesting, in execution it was actually rather bland. Unripe tomatoes, ravioli stuffed with uncertain items, watermelon gazpacho with what appeared to be the equivalent of corn nuts? Often the setting and the service can elevate the experience even when the food is not up to the task. But the service was the most disappointing. Honestly I felt rushed, like they wanted to turn the table. I’m used to that in the States but not typical of when we eat in France. They mistook our beverage order and when we asked to fix it, I felt like we were in the wrong. The servers were certainly working hard but we found it hard to attract service.
We are only here for three nights, wish we had eaten elsewhere. I would consider you do.

Nice spot if you can get a table in the garden. We were under the covered patio and had a regular waft of fried food drifting over our table.
Service was very very slow over 1 hour before appetizers arrived. Food was however good.
Won’t rush back

The setting is beautiful.
The service is good.
The portion size is ridiculously small for the money. My son ordered a 45 euro steak that was the size of one wedge of a grapefruit. He ate it in 3 bites after eating a 19 euro arugula salad that was 5 bites. They brought a bread basket for a family of 6, with 4 thin slices in it. The dessert was an equally tiny portion. We are a family of 6 people with 3 adults and 3 kids (16,15,and 12). Our check was $1000. with wine but I wouldn’t be writing this if we were all satisfied. When one spends that much, everyone should leave satisfied, but we were far from it. It is not my favorite St. Barth restaurant any more.

We went to Tamarin on our first night in St. Barth. The six of us sat down promptly at 8:30pm. The restaurant was beautiful and the tables were spaciously laid out. It went downhill from there. We ordered drinks, and they came out the size for a Barbie doll. The waiter tried to push the most expensive items on the menu, and told us that many of the specials of the day were gone. We never got all the appetizers we ordered, we couldn't find anyone around to send us more Pellegrino, and the portions were small and disappointing. When we finally were able to get the waiter's attention, he sent us the bill and was unable to split it so he charged the entire bill to one card without telling us. Go somewhere else!

Last night at Le Tamarin was mixed. The ambience was lovely; the garden was sublime but the presentation of a 160 Euro red snapper was unusual that the restaurant's 4.5 rating is in jeopardy. When it came time to serve it, our waiter left the service to an underling. Unfortunately, the fish retained a number of scales which were an upset to the two diners. In addition, the three other diners' meals were presented first which meant that their choices went cold while they waited for their friends to be served.

Upon entering the restaurant, the grounds are beautiful. We were welcomed by a charming and friendly host who made us feel like family. Impeccable service. Starter was a delicious salad with a deep fried soft boiled egg (how did they do that?). Rack of lamb for two with beets and mashed potatoes was cooked perfectly and wonderful. Very Caribbean setting. It was an evening we will remember.

We had a reservation and were seated immediately; the restaurant was fairly crowded. The lobster risotto was scrumptious as an appetizer that we split. I enjoyed the mahi mahi with the sweet potatoes two different ways - very nice presentation and great blend of flavors. My husband had the seared tuna with vegetables and thought it was quite good. We split the carrot cake for dessert, which was good and fresh but not great. I love thick cream cheese icing on carrot cake, and this was a different twist where it was more like the top of a muffin with some icing on it. Good service and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Parking is a problem - we found a spot down the street in the dark, and you hope you won’t be hit as you are walking to and from the restaurant.

As we arrived, the host greeted us cordially and led us to a quiet table beside the garden. Our server was charming and the food was mouth-watering. The Tamarin board to share included a number of excellent appetizers as well as a delightful surprise (which I will not ruin for others). The pan-seared tuna was cooked to perfection and the accompaniments were as delicious as they were creative. Sadly, only the skeleton remains of the grand tamarind tree in the courtyard, from which the restaurant takes its name.

We’ve been going to St. Barth and Tamarin for years. I remember when it was a lunch spot. The setting is nice but the food and service this time was terrible. Took them three tries to make a simple drink, one of the members of our party got his first course after all of us finished our first course, and from the minute we sat down at the table we felt like they are trying to rip you off.
I get that prices in St. Barth are off the charts but the moment we sat down they bring over a board with an 850 euro tomahawk steak and ridiculously priced fish dishes that only a fool would order.
If that was it, I wouldn’t mind, but the food was average, the service was mediocre and the overall experience doesn’t warrant a return trip. I’d avoid this arrogantly overpriced tourist trip.

We were fans of a tamarin having being there a couple of times. However, they have a new chef now and it was one of the worst meals we have ever had. We ordered the waygu steak and the risotto for our main course. The steak was meant to be for two and was served rare when we ordered it medium. After sending it back to be cooked a little mid it came back chewy and inedible. The risotto was raw!! Terrible- I hope they are able to get their act together because it is a beautiful setting and we did have some of our best meal there before our latest experience.

First off we eat out all the time. All over the world and this is only the second review I have ever written the other being a rave review but I just had to say something as this completely ruined my special birthday.
We went to dinner at Tamarin last night. Such a disappointment. We had been told it was very good and the food excellent. Also to sit in the garden if it was available. We sat in the garden and it’s a very pretty setting.
The couple seated next to us about 6’ away chain smoked throughout. Between them 10-12 cigarettes in the short time we were there. Disgusting and the smoke lingering as there was no air movement in the garden.
We ordered and the food came quickly my husband had organic egg, mushrooms and leek dish that he said was good. I had an arugula salad with shaved Parmesan. It was way too oily and extremely salty! Not what you’d expect from a restaurant of this caliber. He then had the hanger steak which again he said was good. I order the chicken. When I asked how it was cooked because on the menu it said “low” The server said it was “sous vide”. Which of course should be fully cooked. When it came I found it hard and tough to cut. I ate a couple of pieces but it didn’t feel right and the taste was a little weird. Baring in mind we were in the garden I couldn’t see my food so I put the flash light from my phone on to check and it was bloody and raw in a couple of areas. I was of course horrified. When we finally got the attention of the server my husband had finished his dinner. He did offer another dish and said he would bring it to the chef. But that was the last thing said. We did not stay for dessert. I was of course done! They didn’t charge us for that dish but of course ruined our evening.
