We stopped into Lucky Lou’s the other night for a quick dinner. We were put in a back room with two other families and their children. It felt very much like the kids room at church, which sounds like it could be bad but I...was tremendously grateful for it. They provided me and my family a space where others would understand if my child became restless and protested. More restaurants should have this! Although the experience wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, given the current state of restaurants and shortage of staff, they were excellent. Servers were personable, friendly and responsive. The food was delicious as well. I had the grilled octopus which was tender and came with a acidic tomato and parsley sauce. We greatly enjoyed the experience and will plan on returning again.More

Have been several times this year and always excellent. Casual and comfortable, the food is well prepared and not expensive. The menu offers plenty of choices for everyone and all were excellent. Staff is friendly, we’ve always had excellent service. But my personal favorite part...is the delightful patio, tucked between historic buildings, surrounded by trees and greenery, plenty of shade and shady umbrellas. Very nice.More

We initially chose this restaurant because we read it was pet friendly. Even without a dog, we highly recommend and would go back. The patio was perfect for a hot summer night. Adriana our server was friendly, professional, and welcoming. They made our dog feel...welcomed, to, complete with a bowl of ice water and her own menu! As for our meal, don’t miss the amazing burrata salad! Generous for 2 people to share and absolutely delicious burrata! The lobster roll was great alone but achieved perfection with the side of Parmesan fries. If we lived closer, we’d definitely be regulars at this fabulous place!More

I just enjoyed great cocktails and dinner at Lucky Lou’s with a friend and want to compliment both food and service. We were seated promptly on the patio and our server was Will. He stopped to check on us regularly, giving us time to chat...and view the menu, telling us about the specials for the evening. He was very attentive throughout the meal and made very good suggestions about both entree and the delicious dessert (Lemon yogurt cheesecake). I look forward to returning and will definitely ask for Will to be our server. My friend had never been to LL before and was equally pleased. What a great evening! Thanks!More

My wife and I went to Lucky Lou’s for our anniversary. It was a beautiful June night. The perfect night to sit on their large patio. We were seated right away and to a table that was somewhat out of the way of others, which...I thought was good and gave us some privacy. Aside from a runner/busgirl who brought us water a few minutes after being seated, it was another 10+ minutes before a server came over. The server who did come over asked if anyone had been there yet, to which I stated that no one had. She left and came back shortly after and said that another server would be coming and that there had been a lack of communication, but that she would start us out with a drink order. We put that in, as well as an appetizer. I believe the name of our ‘eventual’ server was ‘Will’, who again hadn’t acknowledged us until he brought out 2 plates for the appetizer. He said that the other server was being ‘cut’ for the night. He went over the specials, then took our order. By this point, it has been 30 or so minutes since first being seated. We were looking for a leisurely evening, not a standstill. The entrees finally came out close to 40 minutes later. Before that, he did come by at one point to say that the food will be out shortly because the kitchen was “slammed”. That was after I flagged down a nearby server to ask. But it was still another 20+ minutes beyond that. Under normal circumstances I’d accept a “slammed” kitchen, except that there was a party of 7 who came in after us and was being served their dinners way before ours. That party had a different server, which told me that ours wasn’t too organized or thorough. I honestly think that he forgot to ‘call’ our table to the kitchen and did so after I asked about it. Overall, the food was very good, not out of this world. Not one time, though did Will come over to ask how everything was during our meal. He should have been there within 5 minutes after being served. He had ample opportunities to come over because I saw him walking around and not busy with his tables. We ordered coffee and the tiramisu (which was awesome, by the way), but Will did not bring any spoons to stir the coffee with! Not once did the manager or owner come over to check on us or any other table for that matter. I spoke to the owner’s wife, Annabella, earlier in the day because I wanted to know if reservations were needed. I mentioned how it was my anniversary and she said to let her know when we got there and she’d come over. She never did. However, the tiramisu was complementary. I’ve read some great reviews of this place, but a couple of others that have had similar experiences as my wife and I had. Would we go back? Maybe, if only to see if the experience is different. However, it won’t be anytime soon. Good food + Good service = Good experience. However, I only got part of that equation.More

We went to Lucky Lou's to celebrate our anniversary. The food was good - but the service/timeliness of the food was NOT. We ended up ordering take out at the same time we ordered our meal. Once we finished and paid our bill, our waitress...advised that our takeout would be right out. Unfortunately, we did not receive this food for another hour. There was no explanation of why or what was happening. In fact, we spoke to the waitress 3 times during this time - and each time she advised that our take out was a few mins away. We also approached the manager who did NOTHING to make the situation better....in fact, he just advised that it was a busy time. An evening that started off so well...ended up bad because no one would advise us on what happened and where our take out food was. Despite the food being good, I will NEVER go back to Lucky Lou's. Food is important....but so is service.More

My companions and I went to Lucky Lou's on a Friday afternoon at the end of August in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the way that sentence sounds, it could not have been a better experience between food, service, precautions, hygiene, ambiance... First,...we ate on the patio. They are dog-friendly so we brought our senior dog. They ensured we had a water bowl, so points just for that. We ordered the soup special: a corn & clam chowder, a leg of lamb gyro plate, a jerk chicken taco, a "naked burger" for our pup, an IPA, a coffee, and a latte. All phenomenal. Tia was our server. She was sweet and efficient. We left her an outrageous tip because she really put herself out there. The patio was immaculate. The restaurant itself is in an historic building in an attractive, well-kept area. We will be back and will recommend this restaurant to our friends.More
