Stopped in here after having read about this restaurant on Trip Advisor. I was hoping it was as good as their reviews and it definitely was! Amy was my server and she was terrific. Suggesting her favorites of the house. The other staff were also...kind and friendly. The meal was delicious, as was their different choices of freshly made Baklava. Warm and welcoming hospitality at Sultan's provided a beautiful little oasis during our road trip. Fattush salad and chicken adana were both tasty and fresh. Will return for some delicious Turkish dessert next time. Upscale and clean.
Don't be fooled by the outside of this building. The inside is okay, but the food and service are sensational. We've been going here for many years and it is consistently delicious. The lunch specials include soup, salad, rice and bulgar wheat with your selected...entree. I had chicken shish this week and I highly recommend it.More
I ate here with my teen daughter. We are from out of town and had googled the best places to eat in Waterbury and saw Sultan's was number one. It is totally worth its number one spot on TripAdvisor! Everything was delicious, fresh and authentic...tasting. We had the Falafel appetizer (my daughter said it was the best falafel she has ever had - and we live in NY near NYC where there is some of the best falafel in the world so that's a big complement!), the babaganoush, the sigara barek with feta, the mousakka (she also said this was the best Mousakka she has ever had and there are some by where we live that we absolutely love, so again, another big endorsment!), and the Iskender, plus the sutlac and the rice pudding. Everything was so good and was served very fast. The staff were really nice. I'd definitely eat here again if in the area and would highly recommend to others.More
Sultan’s serves very fresh delicious homemade food. Terrific service in a lovely restaurant. Super easy ON/OFF I-84. Food came quickly. Had lunch today: homemade chicken soup with spinach, Fattoush salad and Shepard’s Salad. Salads we’re huge-suitable for 2 people. Desserts like baklava are baked on...premises. A local gem! Can’t wait to go back!More
Food was very good, servers were very attentive, portions were well-sized. The prices for the eat-in menu were lower than the prices on the website, which must be prices for takeout.

Table cloths. Turkish decor and ambiance. Clean and inviting. Tea served just as it is in Istanbul. This place is reminiscent of our time in Turkey.
Driving along I84 east of Waterbury we've passed by Sultan's for years, never quite sure what to make of it. What's Turkish cuisine? What's the atmosphere like? With great reviews we decided to give it a try and can't believe what we've been missing all...these years! If you're not sure what to expect about Turkish cuisine, think "Gourmet Greek" - they take everything to the next level. The menu describes everything very well so even if you can't pronounce the dish you'll know exactly what to expect. We started with the small mixed cold appetizer (enough for 4!), which is a selection of six fresh housemade dips. While they will bring you all the delicious fresh baked bread you want, order the side of sliced carrots and cucumbers to have with the dips if you want to have any room left for dinner! I had the best braised lamb shank ever, delicately wrapped in eggplant and seasoned perfectly. My wife had Imam Bayildi - eggplant stuffed with red and green peppers, onions, currants and pine nuts, a very flavorful vegetarian dish that would satisfy anyone, vegetarian or not. We didn't order dessert for 2 reasons; too full, and many looked like Greek desserts that are typically painfully sweet. They brought us two small squares of Baklava anyway so of course we tried it, expecting the typical super-sweet walnut-layered flaky Greek pastry. But their version uses a much more subtle house-made syrup and pistachios, and it was awesome - a Greek dessert taken to the next level! No full bar but a nice wine list and very reasonable prices. We hadn’t been in a while. Were in area so stopped in last night. Forgot how wonderful the food is. Reasonable prices and large servings. Shepherd’s Salad - simple ingredients with just the right combo to make it amazing. All the meat entrees were delicious...and plentiful. Complimentary sesame encrusted bread great too!More

We were traveling from Maine to Pittsburgh and stopped for the night in Fishkill, ordered takeout from this restaurant. Excellent food! And good service with the takeout. When we come back through Fishkill some time this will be a must stop.
