My wife and I are split... She prefers Tawa and I prefer Coromandel (but the one in good wives plaza - not the one very near Tawa. The shrimp appetizer is my favorite. The service at Tawa is very good all of the time

I lOVE this Indian restaurant because the food is awesome and the menu is easy to navigate. Before I dined at Tawa, I was always intimidated by the menu at an Indian restaurant. This is the first Indian restaurant that really made it easy to...More

Tawa was recommended to me by a local Stamford resident. I must admit I was extremely dubious for a couple of reasons; first this was the US and as a Brit I was not expecting quality Indian food and second Stamford is relatively small so..........More

And by "classy", I don't mean that other places aren't nice. Tawa has a nice, romantic, upscale vibe, great service, a fantastically friendly owner and delicious food. It has the feel of an upscale fusion restaurant and when we left, our clothes did not smell...More

While wandering around Stamford, we stumbled across this Indian restarant. We came on Sunday for the lunch buffet. No other customers were there, although a few eventually came. The food was about average. Although the fish was good, the tandoori chicken and the chicken masala...More

Had dinner with friends. The waiter was very pleasant, but seemed to disappear on occasion, however in defense it was a busy Friday evening. The highlight dishes were the signature dampak (lamb cooked in sealed vessel) (great sauce) and the Andhra Chilli Chicken. The Chicken...More

I like to eat out a lot. In reviewing Tawa, I base my comparison on the other restaurants in town. Tawa is an excellent restaurant. My favorite dishes are the chicken tikka masala and the lamb chops. Their nan is quite good too. The goat...More

Chef Kausik Roy has studied the ways Americans respond to the complex tastes and spices of traditional Indian cooking. Tawa is an extension of the home style Indian cuisine the chef grew up with, along with more modern interpretations he has developed throughout the years, satisfying the purists, as well as the adventurous. Vibrant and exciting classic, as well as new preparations of fresh vegetables, meat and seafood are the basis to Tawa's style of Indian bistro fare. Tasty vegetarian and gluten-free dishes are also featured, in addition to Chef Roy's signature "Indo-Chinese" specialties. In addition to a spectacular lunch and Sunday brunch buffet, Tawa features Indian BBQ on the weekends throughout the warmer months. Tawa is housed in a free-standing colonial style dwelling adjacent to the Glenbrook Train Station, among an active residential and retail neighborhood located 2 miles from downtown Stamford. The large space, divided into multiple dining areas, seats 85 inside and another 30 on the patio. Dressed is stylish wood paneling and colorful Indian street food photography, the space radiates with natural sunlight by day and in the evening morphs into a cozy neighborhood eatery.
