Okay diner but...

Stopped in here for breakfast the other morning with a couple of coworkers. The food and service were as expected for your typical diner. Prices are a bit high, and you will be charged for any modification/substitution. For example, breakfast for 3 totaled $57. That’s a very expensive bill since we only ordered basic menu items with a couple of substitutions, I.E. substituted fresh fruit for the potatoes & toast. It’s not a bad place, I just wouldn’t make it my regular breakfast spot.

very expensive for hotel guests in adjoining property

Wait staff was very good and food was above average. As there are very few choices in this area, next to a La Quinta Hotel, this restaurant was extremely pricey leaving travelers no choice but to pay the exorbitant prices. Avoid exiting the interstate to eat here unless price is not an issue. Over $40 is a little much for two burgers and a single soda.

Just a a few minutes off Interstate 95. Worth the Visit

When traveling along Interstate 95 through Connecticut most drivers in need of a break will stop at one of the fast food establishments at a Service Plaza. For a far better option when passing through Stamford try THE STAMFORD DINER just minutes off I-95 this diner's one draw back is the full parking lot as this is a popular place to eat locally. Service is fast, polite and attentive. The food is as good as basic diner food gets in out case a Swiss Cheese Omelet was generously filled with cheese. Home fries were excellent and the grilled chicken served on a bun was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. The background music was somewhat annoying but that's more my personal taste. Bathrooms were clean and the diner had no empty tables so the staff maintain a higher standard than most Service Plaza establishments.

Great Classic Diner

My family and I recently had breakfast here during a trip to the Stamford area. This was one of the best diner experiences I’ve ever had. The quality and quantity of our dishes, including my corned beef hash and eggs, were excellent and reasonably priced, and the service prompt. This diner is well worth a visit, even for people just passing through the area.

Okay place to stop in a crunch

Running late so checked into hotel next door and went to the diner for dinner. Special menu was not appetizing to me so ordered out of regular menu. Soup was very good snd freshly made. However the meatloaf dinner was probably a few days old and they reheated on a grill the edges were hard as a rock. Spinach side was super and potatoes okay. If in a pinch i would stop in again but would try and order off the specials. On the pricey side. Service was okay sat at the bar almost empty and had to call the waiter several times for service. But was very nice

Overpriced and order was messed up

Went to this restaurant because it was attached to the hotel. Lot of people in the restaurant. Ordered a BLT for our granddaughter and it said bacon, lettuce, tomator and mayo on your choice of bread. There was NO mayo and tghey put packets of catchup in the bag. Bacon tasted and chewed like it was left over from breakfast. This poor excuse for a BLT cost $11.00. Very disappointing. When I arrived for the pickup I stood at the counter for about 10 minutes with four employees looking at me from behind the counter but chit chatting while I waited. Will not go again.

Extensive menu but expensive.

Oatmeal was just the right consistency for my husband, and he added the dried fruit and brown sugar. Coffee was good and he didn't have to ask for a refill. Avocado toast was fair. Texas toast was not toasted enough to provide a crisp base for the avocado, and it was a bit sweet. We ordered two blueberry muffins to go and found only one when we got back to the hotel. The receipt said "2" and price reflected that. Entire bill was $40.00 for two people! There is a parking lot.

Very Nice Breakfast

After an overnight in Stamford, we found the Stamford Diner. Close to our hotel and the highway it was a great find. The food was very fresh and delicious with generous portions. The Western Omelet was definitely something you would find in an old time diner. Worth a visit if you are in Stamford.

Recently saw this place on Triple D and decided to give it a try during our trip to the region. We enjoyed 2 burgers (1 beef $14.79, 1 turkey $16.79) and they were served with fries. Were surprised they had higher prices than expected but the burger quality was excellent yet fries not so much.

Pricey but decent.

Service was quick and the food came out quickly. Kosta was our waiter. We ordered Mac and cheese plate which was a bit tasteless and lacked breadcrumbs on top. The caramel macchiato was rather good but the prices were a bit steep Serving portions were decent.. Overall service was good, value to $$ if it was a little more affordable I would have given it an extra star.

Dont get the grilled cheese. Not so great.

Went there for the grilled cheese that my gf claimed was awsome when she went there before. I had a grilled cheese with fries and colesaw. The grilled cheese was burnt/over cooked to the point of I couldnt taste what it was toasted with or the cheese and so was my gf's and 4 other tables had the same burnt grilled cheese I noticed. She liked it, I didnt. The colesaw was good but room temp. The fries werent good. Kinda simular to McDonalds slightly soggy and not cooked enough. I tried the Idaho baked potatoes, they were very good. The waiter was professional in his dealing with me and my gf, not exactly freindly. Sorry to say I left there hungry. As for the ambiance... When we were being brought to our seets the whole way there I smelled a raid(bug spray) like scent . Did they fumagate during busy hours 5pm? Nausiating .

Old Fashioned Diner Hit the Spot!

On advice of Guy Fieri, we made sure to check out The Stamford Diner. It was so good that we went twice in two days! Our first time was late morning. Incredible customer service - so many smiling faces! Our waitress was so kind and efficient - imagine not having to ask for extra napkins or cream and sugar options for my coffee. My sausage and cheese omelet was HUGE and provided sausage and cheese in every bite. And the potatoes were so, so good! My husband's burger was GINORMOUS! Needless to say, we took our time, nobody was rushing us out the door, and we savored every bite. The following day we went at lunchtime. Same smiling, kind service. No one rushing us to decide from the large menu. This time I opted for the Italiano Panini - absolutely delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly, no skimping on the roasted red peppers and the pesto. My husband had a turkey club and devoured it! The fries were fresh, hot and delicious but we couldn't finish them because the sandwiches were so big! This is definitely a place to go to the next time we are in Stamford!

On a positive note, the portions were ample and the side of sausage links was outstanding - 3 large, tasty links. The 3-egg omelet was average. The French toast was pedestrian. Quite pricey. Might try again for a dinner but prefer Elm Street Diner for breakfast...

New York Feel, Casino Flair, Missing Breakfast Value.

This diner has a New York feel with casino flair. Went in for breakfast which was two eggs, bacon, home fries, toast and coffee. 18.44 for one without tip. The food was average which was disappointing because the cost was above average. Particularly disappointing was the bacon which was cooked to perfection but had no taste. Eating breakfast out has lost its appeal to me. The value no longer lives up to the cost.

Some good, some not so good

We visited with friends and sat outside under the tent in the parking lot. The tables were so unlevel, the menus and drinks slid a bit. The food was good, but lack of gloves by some of the staff worried us. We did see them sanitize the tables after diners left, but not the chairs. Service was OK.
