I cannot figure out how this place has good reviews, all I can think is the chef isn’t there anymore or certainly wasn’t in the kitchen yesterday, the food was really tasteless ..it was a fixed- price lunch..who puts black olives in a Caesar salad...instead of anchovy’s? My crab cake had was more bread than crab and came over a curry quinoa, which sounded nice ..why would they add a thousand island dressing on top It was uneatable, my husbands Pad Thai was also bad ..tasted nothing close to what it should have and the apple crisp desert with ice cream was so sweet it was also uneatable . Honestly , if you know anything about food ..skip this place ..this so called chef wouldn’t make it on a home cooking reality TV show ...seriously the worst lunch in historyMore

We had a delightful lunch at Metro Bis when we visited Simsbury to see the Seward Johnson sculptures on display. We had eaten dinner at MB’s old location a couple of times and were frankly underwhelmed but we decided to give it another chance. The...prix fix lunch menu was very good and we really enjoyed our meal. The new location offers a very pleasant porch/patio overlooking a large green lawn. Our waiter (I think his name was Matt) we very helpful. When we feel safe to dine in again I am sure we will give dinner a try.More

On a hot 90 degree Saturday, we met friends for a very nice fix price lunch. The menu offer three courses and a total of about five choices in the first two courses. We all ordered crab cakes for the main offering and were very...pleased with the two large cakes on a bed of lettuce and a starch. Both were nicely prepared and tasty. A parfait finished the meal. The fixed price included tax and tip, an unusual offering in this day and age. This was good value and an incentive to return. Service was excellent and well trained. We hoped to be seated on the large raised outdoor patio but the heat changed our minds. This heat also impacted a wedding group that had been set up outdoors. The well known chief's staff quickly adjusted the request for an indoor event. It was a good choice to eat inside as there are many separate or quite limited seating rooms in this renovated 100 year old brownstone mansion. Parking was more than adequate. Wine prices seemed high. The lack of a medium price glass among the choices was a problem for a lunch non business gathering.More

I have worked as a Pastry Chef for thirty years in fine dining in the Boston area..I am by trade a Master Pastry. My name is Jean-Paul LaPierre My work has been in Gourmet,Bon-Appetite, and LaCucina Italiana Magazines. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE DISAPPOINTED ABOUT...A MEAL IN MY LIFE! I called for a reservation after being told by someone from Millrights Restaurant that this was there equivalent restaurant,Milkrights was booked ..so I called Metro Bes..I told the women who answered the phone it was my Anniversary..she said I can seat you in our special table that many people sit at for their Anniversay celebrations..I said Ok. SHE NEVER TOLD ME THE MEAL WAS A PRIX fix menu..very upsetting. When we got there the Restaurant in-doors was completely empty, with about 10 diners at 7:45 pm..We sat outside for 15 minutes before deciding the bug biting fest was too much..inside we sat alone close to the bar..which was also empty. The kitchen area behind glass looked mini.all lit, no music, the menu was on a plain piece of white paper with no holder, there were no specials or description of the quality of the food from the waitstaff, The Shrimp app with mixed vegetable was disappointing..the shrimp over cooked, the vegetable accompaniment lacked any flavor..my wife had the spinach salad..very basic presentation..a large plastic water carafe sat awkwardly on the table..the next course for my wife and I was a Caeser Salad..very basic..the Entree for me was scallops again accompanied with the same vegetable mishmash that the app was with. THE Scallops were not caramelized correctly, but appeared baked...the flat iron steak my wife had was a taste similar to venison..that came with a dark brown mash potato..which was like pouring the drippings of the steak over the mashed potatoes..the final course..dessert was supposed to be a blueberry parfait..it was a dessert that lacked any depth..and was loaded with granola On many occasions I asked the waiter if the owners were around..the answer I recieved was..they are in the office..my opinion..hiding..Some people shouldn't be allowed to have a fine dining restaurant..this is one..Covid or not..learn to run a restaurantMore

Food was just so-so. For the price, you can get good eats at many restaurants in the area and save money

My wife and I visited Metro Bis on the occasion of its first anniversary at its current location. While we have enjoyed our prior trips to Metro Bis at its prior locations, this was our first trip to its "new" space and it was avast...improvement. The food was excellent, the serving staff was very attentive and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is a nice spot for one or two couples to enjoy the evening.More

My husband and I dined at Metro Bis recently. I was so excited to eat here based on the great reviews and recommendations. We made reservations and got right in on time. The wines by the glass were limited but the Pinot Noir I selected...was great. I had the salmon for dinner which was ok. It lacked flavor and the portion size was so small. Thank goodness I ordered a salad. I ordered the salmon and it lacked any flavor. My husband had the short rib which was better on flavor but so small. Not hardly and veggies or other things. Food quality seemed good but nothing really stood out. Our server was average and the staff seemed to lack enthusiasm. All of the servers never smiled or looked happy to be there. The price is the biggest disappointment for the evening. We are just fine with paying money for quality food, atmosphere and value but Metro Bis didn’t hit those for us.More

Dress is business casual, but there is no specific code. Women are welcome to wear pants and men usually come in collared shirts.

Not that I am aware of. But you need to check their website or call them. I do not see any classes listed on their site metrobis . com
