Six of us were celebrating our son’s birthday. It was the first visit for our children. The service was fantastic and food even better. Bread with dipping were great. We all enjoyed our first courses - I had the beet salad which was delicious. Main...courses were equally delicious. I loved the crab cakes. Desserts were amazing. The pistachio cake was so good. And we had our room to ourselves for most of the meal which was appreciative, even though the restaurant was busy.More

Metro Bis doesn't disappoint. From being greeted by the friendly front staff to having a conscientious waiter, our dinner was memorable. Their pork loin entree with sweet potatoes and rosemary turnips was tasty and done just right. Portions were generous.

Located in a historic brownstone building, this establishment offers harmony with their setting, service and food offerings. There are two dining rooms, an outdoor patio and private dining spaces to chose from. My former boss used to own the original restaurant in the late 90's...and it was nice to see the overhead light fixtures from Paris repurposed to Chris Prosperi's restaurant. The menu offers a variety of food options for lunch and it does not disappoint. Lunch is a pre-fix menu and was tasty and flavorful. We had the beet salad with sliced radishes with gorgonzola and had the salmon which was done to perfection. Save room for dessert...their pumpkin bar was divine.More

This was our first visit. Service was good. Atmosphere is nice. Unfortunately, the only menu available was their fixed price. So, we basically had their choices. My wife enjoyed the Caesar salad. I had the smoked trout which was just okay. I love salmon but...I did not love their salmon. I thought it was “fishy”. My wife enjoyed the beef. Sorbet for dessert was good. All said, we probably will not go back.More

We dined at Metro Bis tonight to celebrate my birthday. We chose different courses, so that we could try as many things as possible. Every single thing we ordered was superb, including the delicious cocktails and amazing service. We can't wait to return!

We chose Metro Bis to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary and we weren't disappointed! Of course the fact that it was a lovely evening to sit on the lovely patio was pure good luck. But our 4 course prie fixe dinner was terrific. And the...tenderloin main course was "stunning". But the highlight was the service. Our hostess, Faith, was outstanding from our phone call to arrange the evening through to our vase of flowers and her checking ingredients in a recipe, it was all great. And our waiter ( goes to U of Maine) was delightful. A great success.More

It is always a delight to go to Metro Bis. They are a great place for a higher end meal and their quality has not suffered in the year and a half that I've been away. This is one of the more robust pre fix...menus that I've been treated to during COVID. It has something for all the very particular people within my family. The food was very good, the stand outs being the crispy cauliflower (now tempura), the halibut, and the panacotta. The salads were delightful and a good palate cleanser, though the burrata was likely the highlight for the table (I did not get it). The desserts were simpler and I could have passed on most, but they were still a nice way to finish the meal. We were visiting from out of town and I was not thrilled that our server generally did not wear her mask. I suppose that's something that will change over time, but it felt a bit edgier in May when people's vaccination status was all over the place. Will be back again.More

This restaurant used to be at one of the hotels in Simsbury. It’s expensive but worth it the food is excellent and well presented.

My husband and I recommend this excellent restaurant with enthusiasm and applause. There is no better place in all of CT to have a fine meal in the cleanest, safest and most wonderful environment. We've visited Metro Bis several times during the summer and look...forward to our next dinner there during the late fall--it has never failed to delight us. The prix-fixe menu, which changes daily, is a perfect concept and beautifully handled. The wines are reasonable and the staff is incomparable.More

I cannot figure out how this place has good reviews, all I can think is the chef isn’t there anymore or certainly wasn’t in the kitchen yesterday, the food was really tasteless ..it was a fixed- price lunch..who puts black olives in a Caesar salad...instead of anchovy’s? My crab cake had was more bread than crab and came over a curry quinoa, which sounded nice ..why would they add a thousand island dressing on top It was uneatable, my husbands Pad Thai was also bad ..tasted nothing close to what it should have and the apple crisp desert with ice cream was so sweet it was also uneatable . Honestly , if you know anything about food ..skip this place ..this so called chef wouldn’t make it on a home cooking reality TV show ...seriously the worst lunch in historyMore

We had a delightful lunch at Metro Bis when we visited Simsbury to see the Seward Johnson sculptures on display. We had eaten dinner at MB’s old location a couple of times and were frankly underwhelmed but we decided to give it another chance. The...prix fix lunch menu was very good and we really enjoyed our meal. The new location offers a very pleasant porch/patio overlooking a large green lawn. Our waiter (I think his name was Matt) we very helpful. When we feel safe to dine in again I am sure we will give dinner a try.More

On a hot 90 degree Saturday, we met friends for a very nice fix price lunch. The menu offer three courses and a total of about five choices in the first two courses. We all ordered crab cakes for the main offering and were very...pleased with the two large cakes on a bed of lettuce and a starch. Both were nicely prepared and tasty. A parfait finished the meal. The fixed price included tax and tip, an unusual offering in this day and age. This was good value and an incentive to return. Service was excellent and well trained. We hoped to be seated on the large raised outdoor patio but the heat changed our minds. This heat also impacted a wedding group that had been set up outdoors. The well known chief's staff quickly adjusted the request for an indoor event. It was a good choice to eat inside as there are many separate or quite limited seating rooms in this renovated 100 year old brownstone mansion. Parking was more than adequate. Wine prices seemed high. The lack of a medium price glass among the choices was a problem for a lunch non business gathering.More

I have worked as a Pastry Chef for thirty years in fine dining in the Boston area..I am by trade a Master Pastry. My name is Jean-Paul LaPierre My work has been in Gourmet,Bon-Appetite, and LaCucina Italiana Magazines. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE DISAPPOINTED ABOUT...A MEAL IN MY LIFE! I called for a reservation after being told by someone from Millrights Restaurant that this was there equivalent restaurant,Milkrights was booked ..so I called Metro Bes..I told the women who answered the phone it was my Anniversary..she said I can seat you in our special table that many people sit at for their Anniversay celebrations..I said Ok. SHE NEVER TOLD ME THE MEAL WAS A PRIX fix menu..very upsetting. When we got there the Restaurant in-doors was completely empty, with about 10 diners at 7:45 pm..We sat outside for 15 minutes before deciding the bug biting fest was too much..inside we sat alone close to the bar..which was also empty. The kitchen area behind glass looked mini.all lit, no music, the menu was on a plain piece of white paper with no holder, there were no specials or description of the quality of the food from the waitstaff, The Shrimp app with mixed vegetable was disappointing..the shrimp over cooked, the vegetable accompaniment lacked any flavor..my wife had the spinach salad..very basic presentation..a large plastic water carafe sat awkwardly on the table..the next course for my wife and I was a Caeser Salad..very basic..the Entree for me was scallops again accompanied with the same vegetable mishmash that the app was with. THE Scallops were not caramelized correctly, but appeared baked...the flat iron steak my wife had was a taste similar to venison..that came with a dark brown mash potato..which was like pouring the drippings of the steak over the mashed potatoes..the final course..dessert was supposed to be a blueberry parfait..it was a dessert that lacked any depth..and was loaded with granola On many occasions I asked the waiter if the owners were around..the answer I recieved was..they are in the office..my opinion..hiding..Some people shouldn't be allowed to have a fine dining restaurant..this is one..Covid or not..learn to run a restaurantMore

Dress is business casual, but there is no specific code. Women are welcome to wear pants and men usually come in collared shirts.
