I have worked as a Pastry Chef for thirty years in fine dining in the Boston area..I am by trade a Master Pastry. My name is Jean-Paul LaPierre
My work has been in Gourmet,Bon-Appetite, and LaCucina Italiana Magazines. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE DISAPPOINTED ABOUT...A MEAL IN MY LIFE!
I called for a reservation after being told by someone from Millrights Restaurant that this was there equivalent restaurant,Milkrights was booked ..so I called Metro Bes..I told the women who answered the phone it was my Anniversary..she said I can seat you in our special table that many people sit at for their Anniversay celebrations..I said Ok. SHE NEVER TOLD ME THE MEAL WAS A PRIX fix menu..very upsetting. When we got there the Restaurant in-doors was completely empty, with about 10 diners at 7:45 pm..We sat outside for 15 minutes before deciding the bug biting fest was too much..inside we sat alone close to the bar..which was also empty. The kitchen area behind glass looked mini.all lit, no music, the menu was on a plain piece of white paper with no holder, there were no specials or description of the quality of the food from the waitstaff, The Shrimp app with mixed vegetable was disappointing..the shrimp over cooked, the vegetable accompaniment lacked any flavor..my wife had the spinach salad..very basic presentation..a large plastic water carafe sat awkwardly on the table..the next course for my wife and I was a Caeser Salad..very basic..the Entree for me was scallops again accompanied with the same vegetable mishmash that the app was with. THE Scallops were not caramelized correctly, but appeared baked...the flat iron steak my wife had was a taste similar to venison..that came with a dark brown mash potato..which was like pouring the drippings of the steak over the mashed potatoes..the final course..dessert was supposed to be a blueberry parfait..it was a dessert that lacked any depth..and was loaded with granola On many occasions I asked the waiter if the owners were around..the answer I recieved was..they are in the office..my opinion..hiding..Some people shouldn't be allowed to have a fine dining restaurant..this is one..Covid or not..learn to run a restaurantMore
