Prime 16, in one of the many strip malls dotting Route 1 in Orange, seems to have a steady following. The restaurant is divided into two sections: a busy bar area and a dimly lit dining room. In both areas, the service is very good...with a caring manager and attentive servers. The bar, which is the main attraction, has multiple, and original, beer choices. As you might expect, the food is mainly "pub grub" though the variety of burgers seems endless and includes a "build your own burger" option. I opted for a Cubano sandwich which was tasty, but catered to a far larger appetite than mine. There is no skimping on ingredients for sure: the pulled pork was of good quality as was the ham slice and bacon. It would easily satisfy two people. I enjoyed the 60's background music, and a quick look at the bar revealed happy customers in a frat house setting. The only thing missing was beer pong. The dining room is a study in contrast: it's dark and depressing with dated wood paneling with a shaded bank of windows looking out at the parking lot and the busy Boston Post Road. Prime 16 is not fine dining, but it is a friendly, unassuming after work haunt and should be judged by what it is. Be attentive to parking because the neighbors to the right are not friendly and will tow.More
