Crowded! Service could be better, as dishes and trays are not removed from the table quickly enough. Steak and fries were good, the buffet not so much. Is it so much to ask to have mac and cheese!

I ordered 2 rib eye steaks cooked medium well. The steaks were cooked well done almost burnt, the garlic toast was completely hard and brown and stiff. I normally go there but they were horrible this time. I tried calling the manager for a refund...and he was nothing but dismissive and rude; offered no refund and proceeded to talk to others on phone and pressed buttons on the phone while I was speaking. He did NOTHING to resolve my complaint. DO NOT GO THERE because they do not have competent workers that can understand how to cook a steak and a horrible manager. This place has gone down hill completely and wouldn't be suprprised if roaches were roaming the kitchen areas.More

Great place for a family meal, kid friendly. Salad bar has lots of options for appetizers before your main course. Good quality steaks at a budget friendly price

I had a friend recently take me to this Steak House. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only could I get a steak, the BEST BAKED POTATO (not dry like usual ones) and RIBS that literally fell off the bone and melted in...my mouth, but I also got a soup bar, salad bar and all kinds of extras. I loved the potato salad, the cole slaw and especially the beans. I also don't think I have ever been so full. The PRICE is also amazing. Love the nice people that worked there, and it was a really fun evening.More

On Sunday july 2nd 2017 at about 5:15 PM, my family and i and some friends decided to have diner at the steak house. After diner, my little nieces wanted to take the rest of their food home, so i asked for two containers to...take out. so the waitress came to take the plates to pack them. I observed the waitress spilled some of the food on the counter all that time the manager was standing next to her, and then she proceeded to give it to me. So i asked if they would replace what fell from the plate, he said yes deceptively, when i looked at the plates, they didn't replace anything, I went back angry, I place my food on the counter and demanded that they fix their mistake because it makes no sense a customer is forcing a manager to fix his employee's mess. He refused to replace the shrimps and the scallops that fell from the plate, eventually my wife got angry he started to argue with her while other customer are watching and then eventually the manager came with one piece of scallop to put in the plate. He offended all of us, and none of us leave any tip on the table because it's outrageous for a company to put someone like that in charge of a restaurant. I will never go back there ever again, sad i used to go there often.More

You'd be better off at a diner. Less than average steaks (thin) and fish (not very tasty). Prices are low though. Bread and salad bar are OK, so you definitely will get enough to eat. I would only come here again if I wanted a...really fast steak or fish dinner cheap. The place is huge and even with a few dozen people eating it looks empty. Atmosphere is not great, kind of depressing, needs serious improvement. Do not bring a date here!! Only if you want to break up!!More

American Steak House in Norwalk is a decent place to take a large group. I personally wouldn't eat here otherwise. I'd rather cook a big fat juicy steak on the grill at home. BUT ... when out of town with kids (and a lot of...them) it's a good place to eat, drink, be merry, and spend time together. It's low budget. The food is average. Steaks are thin. Salad bar is unlimited. Salad bar includes more than salad. There were steamed vegetables, nachos, rice, and other items. I had a plated dinner, so the hot buffet wasn't tops on my list, but the kids sure enjoyed it, especially the vegetarians. I ordered my rib eye medium rare and surprisingly, it was delivered less than well done! That doesn't happen often for me at a chain restaurant, they're usually overcooked no matter how you order. They have a nice large(ish) back room with tables and chairs for family dining. The rest of the restaurant is small booths, not family friendly. The back room also made for easy socializing with other families dining at the restaurant. That was a pretty nice experience, too. Booths are so confining, and that's good if that's what you want. We were happy to meet and greet others dining at the same time.More

We go here quite often. They have the best baked potatoes! The salad bar is fresh and plentiful. The steaks are very tasty.

I have been visiting this Restaurant when i travel with family. Great friendly and non pestering staff & Although not required; We like to leave tips since we usually leave a mess. An unknown secret to better tasting steak, is to have them "FIRE GRILLED..." try at least once, and enjoy!More

While traveling in this area we were looking for dinner and found American Steak House on a busy street. We were confused at first as we entered the door and then noticed that you had to enter to the left once in the lobby in...order to go down and order your food...cafeteria style. The portions were quite large (although it is odd that there is no refill on drinks)...the food was good and almost everything came with a side of baked potato. You also could visit the salad bar (all you can eat and appetizers but you would need to ask for a second clean plate if you visited more than once). The help was always around bussing tables so it was easy to find a seat. Desserts you needed to pick up when you ordered so that you could pay and then have them when you were done. I was so full that I took mine home with me. I would visit again as I had a good meal at a decent priceMore
