We tried to get inside but the hostess said all tablers were reserved...this happens all the time they leave tables vacant waiting for layer reservations who may or may not show up...it turned out 2 tables were still empty when we finally left...we were outside in a rocky table right on the street and Mosquitos got me.."now the service was... I had something they called "Caldo Gallego". It had nothing to do with that Spanish dish from Galicia, had a lot of meat in it, and overpowered the entire dish. Then I had the risotto with lobster. The rice was hard, and the piece of lobster were hard and chewy. That was 0 for 2. E X P E N... More

Terrible. The Pulpo a la Gallega, is a culinary nonsense, bad taste and lack of wit. The lamb, without exhibiting excessive imagination accompanied of a fluffy rice. The desserts without variety. The bar without provisions, there was no Baylis, or Tia Maria. Expensive, good attention, the waiter do not knew what to say when we asked for something and he... More

Once Again, we consider your opinion is more a personal attack than a legitimate review, the pulpo: one of the best app in Fairfield county genuine authentic recipe; the lamb is served with creamy green peas risotto, (creamy no fluffy) we have a FULL bar stock with everything we need to provide a extensive variety of drinks and we do... The chef is good, the service is not. They don't have enough staff or else the kitchen is overwhelmed. We waited an hour between starter and entree which arrived cold and had to be sent back. I think the Lamb two ways saw the microwave. But it is all tasty. Very crowded and NOISY. I could only hear the person... More

I had lunch at Basso Cafe with two girl friends to celebrate my birthday. The menu offers fresh and tasty tapas and the cocktails are very unique like the Chilli Crush cocktail with a little touch of cilantro to die for. We shared several tapas and the prices are great: calamari, skirt steak, tuna sashimi and spinach and chick peas... More

This is our second time dining at this restaurant and both nights were very enjoyable. They offer a variety of dishes from the Mediterranean area although primarily from Spain and other dishes from South America. We've enjoyed every selection of appetizer to entrée both from the standard menu and the chef's nightly specials.

A menu with selections i like and many dishes not found on most menu's but not all the dishes not to my tasting. Had a great soup and one of our friends had fabulous artichokes but the chicken scalapino was dry. Prices towards he high end of what we expected. Serice was very friendly and good. I have been a loyal customer of Basso Café since they first opened; I travel there at least twice a month from New York City because I enjoy it THAT much.
