Food is excellent....great martinis, fantastic pizzas...try the cheese with mushrooms. Fantastic pastas, seafood. This is our go to place for really excellent Italian food. Sometimes, driving up fro NYC, we pre-order to pick up and have a first rate meal ready to go when we...arrive at our bungalow in Washington. We do the same on Sunday evening, returning to the city. Saturday nights are great for dinner. The food is really, really top notch and I have been to every number one rated restaurant in many countries. Highly recommend Colosseo. I think they could liven up the atmosphere a bit and add some color...currently a bit somber with grey, blacks and some funereal wreaths. Christmas is coming so bring on the real Xmas wreaths and some warmth and color and you have the perfect Italian restaurant in the wilds of Ct. LOVE the food, the service is great too and the owner and his Aunt are gracious and full of charm and good humor.More

I have had pizza and grinders from Colosseo for years on occasion but never tried anything else. Recently a friend suggested we go to their bar for dinner. What a surprise! The drinks were generous and the quality of the food was really good. The...staff was extremely friendly and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend it.More

A friend and I stopped in on a Sunday motorcycle ride in Western Connecticut. I had a grilled chicken panini which was excellent. My friend had a Ceasar with salmon salad. We thoroughly enjoyed this spur of the moment stop. We'll be back

Fifteen years ago I swore this pace off. The food ugh. The physical restaurant yikes. Someone told us it was under new management. They had a new chef, the food was great the bar was very good too. We like to sit at the bar...eat and chat with those around us. So, what the heck let's give it a shot! Walking into the bar area reminded me of someones basement bar room.I can't put my finger on it, however, I think it was that the place was very "close" claustrophobia and I'm not!. I felt like people were standing right behind me. Actually, they were sitting at high top tables about three and a half feet behind our bar stools. Too, too close for comfort. The bar was kind of dark with a ceiling far to low [maybe that's why I felt I was in someones basement]. It was Wednesday, wing day. I wanted real food this time. We ordered fried shrimp as an appetizer.. It was tender, tasteless and tacky due to the breading being too thick or whatever. We ordered the white beans with broccoli rabbe & sausage , expecting the beans & garlic to contribute to the 'sauce'.Instead all the ingredients were awash in a strong tasting sausage juice/stock/liquid. We needed soup spoons to eat.... I left half of it on the plate. My wife had the pasta bolognese. It was edible. The table directly behind us was having a great time laughing, carrying on. Good for them. The rest of the patrons at the bar seemed to be attending a funeral... That wasn't what we hoped for.Maybe it was a bad night...it was only Wednesday. I must say the two bartenders were real nice attentive and helpful. The prices were low equating well to the quality of the food. Hey, I may be back in fifteen years.More

As I've lived in the area over 15 years, I used to stop at Colosseo for pizza & apps occasionally but it got kind of same old with me so I stopped going. A relative tipped me off that the place is under new management...so I stopped in for an early dinner this weekend with a friend and we were both blown away. The inside has been tastefully updated and it was an enjoyable quiet setting. We each enjoyed our wine selections and shared a calamari appetizer which was tender and cooked to perfection. We both ordered the Rigatoni with broccoli rabe & sausage and it could not have been more perfectly prepared - past done al dente, just the right amount of all the ingredients and a bit of red pepper to finish it off along with a sprinkling of fresh parmesian and we were in heaven! Finished our meals off with desserts we also both enjoyed. If you have not been here in a while, check it out - you'll be most pleasantly surprised!More

Visiting from Yardley, PA, and had dinner last night with dear friends who are local and come here often. We had one of the specials, the butternut squash ravioli. Superb! Fun place with great chef and vibes. A+++

Ordered take out on the way home from work. We had Veal Francaise, Chicken Piccata and Spaghetti Carbonara. The dishes where OK ,not great. I say we had Chicken Picatta which is funny because we ordered Veal Picatta. When we picked up the order and...explained that we ordered veal not chicken. The owner said "that's ok the chicken will taste just as good." Seriously ? If I wanted chicken I would have ordered chicken.More

Wonderful & fresh Italian food. The sauce is fantastic! They were very accommodating for our large group (18) and did a great job with the appetizers (fried calamari, bruschetta, antipasto caprese, & fried mozzarella) as well as our salads. They have lots of options on...their lunch menu from paninis to sandwiches to pasta dishes to pizza. I was thrilled to have many gluten free options as well! The penne norma is excellent! The tables have tablecloths and the main dining room is nicely painted and decorated. We were very impressed!More
