This restaurant was kind of hidden in a parking lot. The outside of it doesn’t do it justice. As soon as I walked in I knew that this restaurant was going to be wonderful. The decor and the ambiance of the restaurant were great. It...has outdoor dining and the day we happened to have eaten there, the outdoor glass was entirely opened and you could see for miles out into the ocean as you walked in. Wonderful breeze and smells of the Atlantic Ocean surrounded us as we ate. It was a beautiful dinner that we had. Great cocktails. Our server Lisa was fantastic. She made our dinner experience memorable. Thank you lisa! Would highly recommend this place to anyone and will definitely come back again.More

We loved the atmosphere, it was very nice to see the harbor just before sunset. My fiancé said "It makes you feel like you're on vacation". We came to this restaurant with high expectation as my fiancé and I are foodies, and both love to...cook. Our expectations were met. We both had appetizers (ceviche, fried cauliflower), I had a soup (new England clam chowder) and entrees (prime rib, jumbo shrimp fettuccini). Everything was amazing and the portions were big enough to not leave us hungry (we even took the rest home). We also had a few cocktails, beers. I was glad to see they had Downeast cider as this is one of my favorites. and I had a yoo-hoo cocktail which was very nice and a good cocktail to end the night after eating all this food. My fiancé had a white sangria (which she loved so much she had to have another). She also got one of the twilight cocktails, I believe it was one of the expressos. I could not have asked for a better experience.More

As a former Charleston resident, quality service and hospitality in Connecticut is hard to come by. Shell and Bones was the first place to impress my fiancée and I. I would say we were seated at a less desirable table and even then the atmosphere...was 5 Stars. It was a bummer when my fiancée ordered linguine and clams and left hungry...More

We recently had the good fortune to dine at Shell & Bones for the first time, and we found the place first-rate. It’s beautifully situated on Long Island Sound with both indoor and outdoor (patio) dining; sit outside if you can. The menu, predictably, features...seafood but there are other options, including steaks and chicken. Servings are generous -- you can make a meal of a couple of appetizers, like an excellent ceviche and a gazpacho special with watermelon. Full bar, attentive service, nice décor. It’s expensive, but you get your money’s worth. We look forward to more trips thereMore

When you walk into this place, you're not greeted with "welcome" or "hello", it's "Do you have a reservation?". Once you do convince the young bureaucratic snarktresses that you do indeed have a reservation and have not exceeded their generous 5 minute reservation grace period,...and they break huddle having failed to find any other reason to deny you service, they seat you with the warning that there's a two hour table limit. I don't know about you, but the only reason I'm going to be sitting there two hours later is if the service is painfully slow, so what's the point of the table time threat? Once seated, everything changed. Our server, Diego, was a true pro. He was slammed with tables, but he was on it for every step of the meal. He really turned our initial impression of this place 180 degrees in the other direction. The food was outstanding. The garlic black cod was one of the best fish dishes I've eaten. They have a great wine list, fantastic desserts, and when I wanted coffee at an odd time on a hot day, Diego brewed a fresh pot. I'll be back, now armed with the knowledge that dealing with the rude hostesses in the front are part of the price you pay to eat at this great restaurant.More

Tables inside but because of sliders they were outside . Excellent oysters as well as fish tacos. All our meals were excellent although this place is a bit pricey. Although food was worth the price!

I flew in to CT to visit my sisters and was so hyped to visit this restaurant, only to be severely disappointed by the waiter who attended us. The burrata, oysters and lobster were good, but poor service overrode any highlights this place otherwise would...have. I can't imagine a reason for his disposition, as our table ordered very generously: a steamed lobster each, several rounds of cocktails, several appetizers, and about a dozen oysters. We are not the type of people to mistreat people in the service industry and were naturally in a good mood when he started attending us, yet our waiter was far from cordial, made inappropriate comments throughout the course of our lunch, and was overall a huge damper on the whole experience. Would not recommend this restaurant.More

On the water, it's open for reservations here in mid August, and the food is wonderful. I got oysters and the cheese and charteuterie tray. All very good.

Outstanding service to support their high prices. Food was excellently presented and camera worthy. Clam chowder was something to go for and well worth the price. Steak dishes were accompanied by their idea of fried onion rings that can;t pass muster since they arrive cold...simply due to them being fine and easily cooled in less than a minute. Pass on this and order a subtitition. The steaks tasted fine and no complaints about being heavily seared only on one side. However the seared side was over-salted. The tuna tartar dish was fine until you got near the bottom and found out that it was swimming in salty soy sauce. The chef probably has other sauces to accompany. Many of the salad dishes were overly prepared with extreme leafy greens Which reminded one of a weed patch just to get deeper into their base. So I give it an A for presentation but only a C for a foodMore

My girlfriend took me here for lunch. It was my first time there a nice restaurant right on the water. I had crab cakes and a bison burger. They were tasty and the wait staff was great. I would definitely go here again for a...meal.More

We were a party of 7 and the service was great. I’d call and ask the management if they felt they could handle 25. Parking not an issue.
