Had dinner with the family. The hostess, waiter, and rest of staff as always were excellent. The food was excellent and prepared just the way we like it. The atmosphere was great. Love the large windows to look at New Haven from a birds eye view.

I've had brunch few times on sunny days, I'll accept and it's because mostly of a great panoramic view of New Haven, however good and service have been very good also, I recommend this place.

The hostess was a sweetheart. She greeted us and walked us to our table. Gorgeous View of New Haven. Our waitress Robin was amazing. She let us know the specials and offered help with ordering. We had a few questions about some of the dishes. She did not rush us. She waited until we had finished our drinks before bringing... More

We came here for the first time for my sister's birthday for dinner before the show at the Shubert. The waiter was friendly and super accommodating. Once we told him we had to get to a show he was extremely attentive to ensure we had our full dining experience and get to the show when we wanted. Because we were... More

While we live not too distant from New Haven we hadn't been to John Davenport's as it is a little above our normal dining choices. The entire staff was very friendly and efficient and I mean everyone we had any contact with. We were seated facing the floor to ceiling windows facing downtown New Haven and Yale University. Because the... More

Three of us had dinner twice at John Davenport’s in December 2016. The food, the people, the place, and the view: all excellent! We had great meals and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The servers were friendly, caring, and professional. Thanks to everyone.

We just had a lovely family "reunion" at the Davenport Restaurant that we chose because of its great views of Yale and New Haven. Unfortunately the views were obscured slightly by the snow falling, but the energy at the restaurant was not. The staff and manager took very good care of our party as we continued to grow in numbers... More

The service was inattentive and bordered on rude. The food was uninspired. The view was nice. We will never return, especially because there are so many other fine restaurants in New Haven.
