The concept behind Miya's is phenomenal: modern day sushi does not represent what sushi would have looked like hundreds of years ago. With this in mind, Bun (the charismatic, sarcastic, and passionate creator of Miya's menu) bases his dishes on what can be sourced locally (including his back yard) with a special focus on invasive species: those plants and animals... It's a cosy place with a laud back atmosphere. It was very busy when we went and it took a long time for our orders to come but we got complimentary edamame with masala and a kale brussels sprout salad during the wait. I tried 3 different rolls. The spicy scallop was a little too spicy, the scallop taste got... More

Miya's has one of the most original sushi menus in the world, with an emphasis on sustainability, vegetarian sushi, and invasive species that you don't usually see on menus such as wild catfish and carp. Firecracker sake - made of chilis and honey is a must have. And for those with tight budgets, every night at 10pm, Miya's does $7... More

While the menu shows a wide range of options, I thought the food tasted average at best. I don't understand what all the hype is about.

Good service, fun and unique menu, great sushi and environmentally conscious. Great place to visit. We don't live close to this restaurant but happily take the 45 min trip to new haven just to come here!

Had heard about this restaurant and decided to check out their dining experience for 2. The friendly waiter started off by saying " it's a lot of food". That definitely was an understatement. The courses just kept coming, each paired with a different infused sake. The textures and flavors gave you a full range of experiences. Food was very good... More

I love Miya's . Their food is awesome, menu is diverse and staff makes you feel so welcomed. I have turned many friends and family who were afraid to try sushi into sushi lovers. We have had great family times there and parties. They really go above and beyond. 10 stars

I'm so glad that we tried Miya's. Didn't have reservations, but were able to get a seat by the window. Server was patient and described every item in great detail. Great deal for restaurant week even though we ordered from the regular menu-or should I say entertaining textbook. The new take on sushi, creative names, and commitment to educate diners... More
