We have been eating at Miya's more frequently over the last few months. The quality of the sushi really can't be overstated. The creativity behind the rolls is unmatched in my experience. This last visit was an excellent experience (as usual). Definitely the best sushi I've ever had, and certainly in southern Connecticut. Ebi baba is a must try, as... More

Two words: FRUIT FLIES!!!! This was our 3rd time here and we were really surprised at the disgusting fruit flies on the wall by our table, the lamp hanging over our table, and floating around our head. When I asked for a discount considering the disgusting experience, our waiter said "we don't give discounts." Really?!

Bun Lai is a genius. This restaurant makes sustainability tasty. By consuming invasive species we can benefit different ecosystems around the world instead of hurting them. While the menu can be overwhelming it is a short story and one worth reading. We started with the firecracker sake - just awesome. We ordered a number of different rolls - focusing on... More

Let me first say, I would not have eaten here if I had not bought a Groupon Discount for a "Chef's Taste menu" Meal. with that being said, I bought the Groupon advertised as "Dinner Pairing for 2, a 16 Course Sushi meal with sake pairings" originally advertised as $180 but Purchased for $95. In my mind, I thought a... More

What can I say after 15 years of being in five star hotels and a foodie. I thought I've seen it and eaten it all. However, chef Bun Lai's restaurant is small and intimate, and be prepared for the most unique sustainable dishes. What makes it unique is the fact that he has taken evasive species of plants, proteins etc.... More

Ever since I saw a video with Chef Bun giving a demonstration on how he prepares Asian shore crabs, a pesky and prolific invasive crab on the shores of Connecticut, I have wanted to make the trek to his restaurant in Downtown New Haven to see what he does with other invasive species. I got my opportunity yesterday and luckily... More

Miya's has a very unique and important concept. The use of invasive species is both creative and responsible, however, it stumbles in translating that concept in a memorable experience. The service was very polite, with pepper flavored sake being offered while we waited for our table. It was a interval of around 20 minutes until someone appeared to take our... More

I went to Miya's on a deal that let you have a sampling of many of their best dishes. It started with appetizers, all of which were fantastic, though the karma virtue chickenots (vegan fried "chicken" with curry sauce) really stood out. Then came Asian carp sashimi and samplers of numerous sushi rolls, all of which were beautiful both in... More
