You know New Haven Pizza is the best in the world. Some like Pepe's or Sally's, but Modern takes the cake. get the Italian Bomb with some Gassossa

My wife and I stopped in for a pizza and a pitcher at lunchtime passing through New Haven while driving from New York to Boston. We were totally blown away with the quality of the pizza. Now we're not pizza snobs even though we've had some incredible pizzas in New York but we know a great pie when we eat... More

We went back to this place because friends of ours wanted to go. If you like greasy pizza, this is the pizzeria for you. I don't, so can't understand what all the fuss is about. I much prefer the pizza at BAR.

Been living in New Haven for a little over two years and have tried most of the classic joints. I've been to modern twice now, both times were satisfying. Classic apizza thin crust, can trend toward greasy, especially with the meats.

We lived around the corner from Modern for 2 years and ate here many times. The pizza is delicious, but bear in mind that they serve classic toppings, rather than "gourmet" combinations. Modern gets very busy on most nights, so go early if you don't want to wait.

We think Modern is the best! We love making a special trip to New Haven. The crust is amazing. Never disappointed and worth the wait if you go on a weekend.

Excellent Pizza house, crusty crust with cornmeal on the bottom, you have to like the cornmeal....the pizza is always well cooked and we never had a bad experience here in the many years we visit to enjoy the food.

Absolutely one of the top 3 of New Haven Neapolitan-style pizzerias (the two others being the famous Pepe's and Sally's on Wooster St) -- and IMO, the best one overall in terms of quality, taste, accessibility, and hours. I grew up on this ambrosial 'za and after tolerating years (and years!) of sub-par pies outside of CT whose only commonality... More

I always enjoy a Modern pie. It's a great venue for the family and the wait times are usually not as bad as any venue on Wooster Street. Arrive an hour early to peak rush times and you'll be seated pretty fast. My son and I prefer the white clam pie. Crust is perfect and slightly charred. The clams and... More
