Grabbed two pizzas tonight to go since I was in new haven. Ate here 20ish years ago several times while living in new haven, it was always the best then in my opinion. 20ish years later it's still great, great pizza!! Excellently done!! Thank you.

As a "native" for over 40 years, I've recommended Modern Apizza (pronounced "A-Beetz") to every friend, relation, visitor or tourist. These pies are luscious, perfectly seasoned, and altogether unforgettable. [We once flew to Nantucket on a private plane -- the only fare? A 'half-cooked' pizza from Modern!] The pizza Margherita is wonderful, and so is the superb fresh tomato, fresh... More

This is my absolute favorite pizza and most of my friends. Very thin crust, bubbly, just so outstanding. Restaurant is small and there will always be a line on weekends. Pepe's and Sally's are the other "leaders" in New Haven and they'er good but Modern wins out for me.

It's Overrated -it's ok but too salty. There are so many great pizza restaurants in new haven that are far superior. Such as Sally's and Da legna.

Let me say, I am a Connecticut native and went to Modern after a long time. I remembered thin crust yumminess. Unfortunately, this was not that. We ordered two pies. And both were soggy. I have had better pizza here before and I hope that it will return to its former greatness.

When friends come to visit us in New Haven, the number one request for dining out is pizza. No doubt that this is the pizza capital or the US with 3 places consistently ranked in the top 10 pizzeria places that includes Modern. I have eaten at all 3 restaurants and tasted a variety of pizzas. They are great but…all... More

Great wait staff, our waiter Jessie was terrific. We had appetizers, salads, pizzas and a dinner in our orders. Everything was terrific...we were served fast and our waiter was so patient as we kept talking and weren't ready for our order but he just smiled and came back repeatedly. Looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow, would definitely recommend going there!
