This place only accepts cash, and their pies are too saucy for my liking. I would recommend everyone try it if you like pizza to decide which New Haven pizza place is your favorite though.

I have never been inside Sally's Pizza myself. But before I go on I can safely report this is some dam fine apizza. I will try to make this short. I lived in the New Haven area until I was 16. So all of my life, if I was lucky we went and got pizza at Pepe's. I moved away... More

Came her from long island to try Sallys and Frank Pepes. I preferred Sallys and my wife preferred Frank Pepes. Sallys tasted a little more like new york thin crust well done pizza to me. Although the fresh tomato slice from Frank Pepes was one of the best slices ever. Worth the trip up for sure. Glad we came!!

This place has gone downhill since the owner died....there are much better options such as Pepe's Modern, etc.

I'm not anti-Pepe's pizza. There can be a line, so plan accordingly, including an umbrella if the wait is hours. The crust is like a cracker with a couple millimeters of chewy dough. The ingredients are fresh. The staff are unpretentious, despite the celebrity of the place. Been going back intermittently the past 35 years.

I have always been a Modern and Pepe pizza guy and have eaten New Haven style pizza for the last 58 years. Modern was closed for vacation and Pepes had a line. My wife said lets try Sally's as I t was recently ranked number 1 in Connecticut. We walked in and noticed that it was dated and had a... More

Been coming here since the 80s and nothing has changed. The pies are the best charred pizza to be eaten -- red sauce to die for. Cash only and gruff waiters are just part of the charm.

I've never had a strong opinion on the best pizza in new haven, but I recently went to Sally's with a group of friends and the service couldn't have been nicer and the pizza was absolutely delicious. We had a bit of a misunderstanding and ordered the "plain", which does not have any mozzarella on it. In the interest of... More

Walked in all the way up to the counter and asked about the wait. Was told yes and nothing more, then ignored until a snotty waitress bellowed "excuse me" to get us out of her way. No food tastes good after bad treatment.
