This restaurant is a trendy hotspot for friends to hang out, much like its sister locations in West Hartford and Fairfield. You come here, order from a large tapas menu, and share. The food quality is great - we ordered patatas bravas (potatoes in spicy...salsa), pan con tomate, potato tortilla, spicy beef empanadas, and grilled corn cazuela, and everything was consistently outstanding. It does get pretty noisy in here, especially on evenings over the weekend, so either come here early (as we did) if you don't have a high noise tolerance. They've done a really good job of making this restaurant as safe as is possible during the pandemic, with contactless paying, food delivered to the "clean" part of your table, and digital waiting rooms. Service was pretty prompt, and while the food's pretty expensive (especially more than what you'd pay in Spain for the same food), the quality and unique experience justifies the price in this case.More

Barcelona is heavily populated by Yale graduate and junior faculty - the young trendy crowd. It's very loud, so don't expect to carry on a normal conversation - yelling is in order, This is a restaurant chain, currently very popular. We found the servings very...small, and not anything special. There are better Spanish restaurants (admittedly with less vibe) in New Haven. The bread and flan are excellent.More

I had made a reservation for 7pm. When I arrived just before 7pm there was a queue of well over 30 people all with reservations waiting to even speak to someone and every other table was full. It was clear they had more than double...booked. When eventually I got to speak to someone after 15mins they were barely apologetic, said they had no idea how long we would have to wait still and when I asked how it was possible they had overbooked so badly she replied: “we have good food”. We ended up leaving along with many other people who had been waiting much longer than us and got frustrated with the chaos of being crowded in among tables of people trying to eat.More

A top three restaurant in New Haven. The staff were very knowledgeable and attentive. Went on a Monday and was impressed with how active and lively it was. Me and a colleague shared the Parillada, which is essentially a wooden meat slab from heaven of...NY strip, sausage, pork loin, and the very impressive chicken that seemed to have a layer of seasoning that uniquely stood out amongst the meats. To top it all off, I highly recommend the Grenache wine flights, which is a very reasonable priced set of three wines that ideally should be drank in a 2, 1, 3 order per the waiter (he was right). This place was phenomenal.More

The staff here genuinely care about giving you the best dining experience. One of the managers, Ryan, remembered our order even after being out of town for a while. Our server constantly checked up on us, and the dishes were so tasty. The vibe is...amazing as well and they allowed us to stay for 3 hours without complaining. Definitely must go!!!More

We came here for dinner and were quite pleased. It’s a nice place with fresh and modern decor. It can become a bit loud, but nothing too disruptive. Servers were nice and courteous. Food took a little while to arrive, however it was excellent. In...particular, the croquettes and steak with truffle sauce were delicious. The vegetable paella was quite oily and our only major disappointment. It’s a good place to go to if in New Haven and would return. Recommended.More

My wife and I have been in this place several times. We feel quite relaxed and welcomed since the very entrance. Either you sit at a table or at the bar you surely will enjoy the evening. The Tortilla Española is supperb!! Thank you!!

Recommended by my local business I was visiting. It was within walking distance of the hotel and what a great scene! I went early and solo but the wait staff were so attentive and so was the owner! They kept a close eye on me...and made some fabulous recommendations! The wine was amazing with great selections. The tapas was a wide variety and delicious! The restaurant was busy and a great vibe. Definitely a hot spot and with good reason. Definitely recommend visiting!More

We really enjoyed our dinner at Barcelona. The place itself was very nice and cosy. All the tapas dishes we took were absolutely great, with the only disappointment being the vegetable paella which was a bit too oily. Great restaurant.

Not as far as I know. From what I saw, I would very much doubt that the kitchen is kosher. Call them and ask.
