Barcade offers a really good craft beer selection. You can get small pours to sample, too. But the fun is in the 80's era games. I played MS Pacman for a while in between sips. Fun for 21 and up.

Nightlife in New Haven seems super quiet, but this bar was hopping! A TON of old arcade games, etc., and you can carry your drinks around with you as you play.

My local friends were quite scathing about New Haven's nightlife, but this was worth a trip. There was a decent selection of arcade games and pinball machines, a really good array of booze at the bar and a few tables and stools about. It was...very busy and some shaven-haided young activists gave us a bunch of their tokens when they were leaving. It was good fun and the food on offer smelt good. My main criticism was the age of some of the games - while I completely understand the retro appeal, some of the consoles were really showing their age.More

Barcade has around 40-50 video arcade games and pinball machines, most of which are of the "classic" (meaning decades old) variety. You might like to revisit your gaming past by seeing or playing a few, but beyond that, Barcade isn't much more than an ordinary...bar. In keeping with their arcade game theme, they offer tater tots in Tetris shapes, a nice touch, but this and the games are not enough to make this place a must if you're visiting New Haven. There are very few tables to sit at and when we were there, they generally were not clean. This is definitely not the place to go if you are looking for a good meal with comfortable seating and the ability to carry on a conversation. It is the place to go if you want drinks in an arcade and little more. It is not for kids and the rather unpleasant bouncer at the door who checked IDs seemed to like to scowl at customers who had appropriate proof of age, as if he were denied the pleasure of keeping them out. I have no interest in returning here. Once was enough, and there are many much better pubs and restaurants in New Haven.More

I love this place. The prices are really good compared to other barcades. The drinks are great. (Don't know about the food since we didn't have any but looked like typical bar food). The games are awesome. But be warned they are all mostly from...the 90s, and are not the traditional arcade games you might expect to see today. So yes, some machines will be slower than others, some will be a bit dysfunctional, but overall, they are so good. Especially the pinball ones. We could have stayed for hours!More

The place is packed with awesome video arcade games and pinball - mostly from the 1990's and 1980's. The food is ok bar food, but when paired with the games and the beer you are in for a fun time.

Arcades have gone the way of the do-do, but not any more. Barcade brings back the arcade experience with all the games we grew up with and loved: Mrs. Pac-Man, Galaga, Street Fighter, Ninja Turtles, 6-Player X-Men, Arkanoid, Rampage, Q-Bert, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Punch Out,...Gaunlet, and many, many more. If you love arcade games, this is the place to come. There is also a nice bar, a wide variety of beers and typical bar and grill food. Settled in quaint down-town New Haven. The area is safe, and men and women alike frequent this gem. I highly recommend it for anyone who misses the old school days where arcades where the norm and sinking quarters into video games just felt right.More

Stopped at barcade during a bar hopping tour. My group of 15 got a kick of the video games we played when we were kids. Pacman, donkey Kong etc. We didn't eat here but the people there seemed to be enjoying their bar food type...meals. The bar was adequately stocked.More

We had a great time. SUPER games and bar. 50 cents to 75 cents per game, and they lasted for a LONG time. A wide variety. Bar stools and a limited number of low tables available, good for the drinking crowd but not really for...eating. Adult place, 21 and over, no kids here. This place has been open for a year, and have been wanting to get down there. Finally got around to it last weekend. A great time was had by all! The beer list is awesome and the games were excellent. Very nice that they are...all just a quarter (token) to play just like the old days. No price gouging to play a game for 8 seconds like at Dave and Busters. This is a bar, so no kids in there which is nice. Off the menu, we mostly just had appetizers, Buffalo wings, Fries, Mozzarella sticks, etc. None of it went to waste! Lookin forward to going back over the summer. If you are a fan of early stand alone video games then you will not be disappointed. The games are great and there is something for everyone. The food here is edible but not very good. I had a disappointing Cuban sandwich with tater tots...which were ok. My companion chose the chicken and waffle sandwich which was actually bit better than my sandwich but still not very good. Went to Barcade as part of our son in law's birthday celebration. If you like loud music and old school video games you will love this place. They have a bar and serve pub type food. Must be at least 21 to enter and they...card at the door. Appears to be a popular Yale student hang out. Worth a visit to check it out.More
