We visited the area Labor Day weekend. We were referred to Sole for dinner the first night we were there. We ate outside and had a marvelous dinner with awesome service. The next night we tried looking for a different place to eat. After evaluating...the menus and wait time and noise level at other places, we ended up back at Sole and ate inside this time. The staff was super amazing as well as the different dinners that we had gotten. Sole is a lovely restaurant with a great vibe. We had a late dinner on a weekday night and although the outdoor seating was packed, it wasn't filled inside. We were easily able to get a table without a reservation. We heard good things about...Sole and have dined at a few of the sister restaurants. Unfortunately, the service was inattentive and the meal sub-par. My wife had a pizza - with prosciutto and arugula. The prosciutto was hard, tough and inedible and the pizza was flavorless. I ordered the Wag-burger - medium rare. It came out so over cooked - well done would have been an understatement. Sadly, the meal took a very long time to come out, it was late, we were starving, and the waiter was nowhere to be seen. We ate some of our meals but were very disappointed and quite unsatisfied. The waiter, nor anyone else ever came by to ask us how our meal was. It was long after we finished eating that the waiter arrived and asked if we wanted more wine. Nothing about how our half-eaten dinners were. We declined and took the check.More

Our party of four had an excellent lunch at Sole in early April. Food was very good all around and the service was extremely attentive and friendly. Prices are high, especially for lunch, but everything is pricey in New Canaan.

Terrific dinner, great staff. Had been out furniture shopping in Fairfield county all day, drove into New Canaan and parked in front of Sole. Had not been in years, walked in (In COvid Times) and was seated immediately. Terrific Meal, nice wine (Justin) with a...very nice pour. Would have stayed for dessert and coffee but had to head back to NYC. Unsure about some of the review with bad staff ratings. Had no problems, in fact quite the opposite. Go. Now.More

Very disappointing .....ordered calamari to start It never showed up. Special dish pappardelle with lump crab meat was entirely pasta for $27! Very poor meal and no manager came by to apologize.....go elsewhere.

Sole is an American Italian restaurant in the heart of New Canaan. The restaurant has been there for a while, a testament to its solid offerings. We went around 7:00 pm on a Friday and the place was hopping due to a festive holiday crowd....The only table that wasn’t taken by a reservation was by the door, a bit of a drag during a cold winter evening, but the heat was blasting so overall not too bad. We had a very friendly waiter, but once the drink orders were in it took a while for him to return to take our dinner orders. The place was a bit loud and cramped due to an over flow crowd. The menu is solid with the standard offerings of a good Italian restaurant including pizza with some American items mixed in such as a steak and a burger. I got the penne ala vodka which had good sauce, but it was a bit dry for my taste buds. My friend had the sausage pizza with cherry peppers which was quite good. The portion sizes were good as well. All in all, I like Sole for its busy vibe, nice décor, and friendly service. My only reservation is that for its price point, the food should be better.More

Service is awful so only go for the food. The Waite staff, including the bus boy have this arrogant, mean approach to the patrons. It was not one or even two of the servers but everyone. From just asking where the rest room is to...their not servicing the table correctly. I blame the management for not training the employees to respect patrons. I am guessing this place stays in business because the food was good. If you like being treated like crap, go here.More

We came on a quiet Sunday morning at 11:30. Very welcoming staff, but the waiter couldn't answer any of our questions about the menu. He made the effort to get the answers for us, which was fine. The food was delicious and hot. No one...was disappointed. Recommended for Sunday brunch.More

Good food and great staff - a little bit loud but the Saturday after thanksgiving and everyone was out enjoying non turkey meals.

Stopped in after our Sunday drive at about 2 for a light bite. The brunch menu had some great choices. The wedge salad , tomato basil soup and the buratta salad were shared by all. Perfect presentation, portion size and served quickly.

As a couple we came at 8.45pm on a Saturday night, it was moderately busy, no waiting which was good, I think that this certainly helped with the overall experience. though it does have a long bar area for eating or waiting if there are...queues I guess Decor was nice, and comfortable, tables were spaced out enough We ordered Burrata and Yellow fin tuna starters and Beef/Spinach Ravioli/Salmon main courses with a Bread pudding desert and had sauvignon Blanc white and Super Tuscan Red wine Food was the best we've had in the area (including Stamford/Darien/New Canaan/Norwalk/Silvermines) by quite a long way. The flavor of the food was so much better than anything we've had in the last 3 years, now really sad we havent been here before The food is light and delicious, you dont feel like you do with some of the 'bucket of slops' restaurants that are all too common in the USA! The wine was also nice (the red tasted like a more expensive bottle) The only thing that could have improved this place was a more personal touch like the owner or manager being there... this is what is missing though in many places Don't hesitate to try this one you wont be disappointed - we will definately be back again soonMore

First time at Sole and was not disappointed. Made reservations ahead of time for a birthday dinner. We were a party of 6, so reservations helped because it was dinner “prime time” and the resturant was packed, we were able to be seated immediately. Food...was delicious and everyone agreed, except the burger - ordered “medium well” was on the dry side. I would recommend ordering just “medium” - next time 😄 everyone else really enjoyed their meal. Service was very good and the wait wasn’t too long. The ambiance was really nice as was the long bar in the restaurant. As you walk by to use the restrooms you can visually see the resturant is bigger than it looks from the front. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan. It was delicious and filling! It’s menu is priced on the high side but it’s delicious and worth it for a special occasion! Bon Appetite 🥂More
