I keep forgetting that New Britain has a big Polish community, but when my family and I was in the area over the weekend, we decided to try this placed based on good recommendations. The seating area can get a bit crowded because it's not...that big, but it's also a testament to the genuineness of the food that there were so many people here from the local community. The staff were friendly and helped us with unfamiliar terms, and everything was freshly prepared. I love borsht, and while this restaurant's borsht wasn't as fancy as Russian borsht (it only had broth and meat dumplings), it was still good, albeit with a slightly more sour/vinegary taste that I'm accustomed to with borsht. The pierogi were good - you can get them with a variety of fillings.More

Rude and unprofessional customer service with attitude. We are very disappointed , won't be returning. I would prefer to spend my money with a pleasant service and good ,fresh food.

The food was ok but tried to use a gift card given to me prior the covid ( In January 2020 ) I called two times to see if they would still honor it ( had an expiration date of May 15 2020 ) on...the second call one of the employees ( Maggie )conferred with someone in the restaurant and the answer was yes it will be honored Well my wife and I went there today and the owner ( husband ) said no . I explained all the background info that I was given an ok to come and due to Covid and all - they made me feel as if I was stealing from them - he says " be nice or I will say no - which he already did - so he calls his wife - co-owner and she puts me through the third degree - who gave me the card -who did i call - they ( other employee ) have no right to say ok ,and on and on - Finally I said either except the card or not ,quit badgering me . they conferred for another 10 minutes ( all for a $25.00 card ) and scolded me before saying ok this time - like ,don't do it again ,you bad boy . We are 80 years young - never - ever again will we go there let me say it again " never ever againMore

My wife and I stopped in Staropolska for an early Saturday dinner after visiting the New Britain Museum of Art and found this hidden gem that serviced authentic Polish food that a great price. The service was very good with the servicer recommending dishes to...try if we were not familiar with the food. She recommended the Polish platter since it offered a wide selection of Polish food and she was spot on! In addition, my wife had the Tripe soup and I had the Red Borscht soup as appetizers and both were delicious. The dining area is small and noisy so a first date dinner could be challenging. We will definitely return for dinner with our friends in the future but will make reservations first on weekends. When we left about 6PM, there were at least three to four couples waiting for tables.More

Great choice of Polish foods and beer. Service very good. Worth the hour and 15 minute drive for us!

Small, Clean surroundings but BIG on Taste and Outstanding Polish Food. Efficient and friendly service. Fried Cheese Pierogi ( $11.95) was mouthwatering great. Potato Pancakes, with sour cream and applesauce ( $10.95) were some of best that I have ever tasted. Total Bill: $24,58 with...tip $31.58 and well worth it. I will most definitely be returning and highly recommend.More

My grandparents lived on Broad Street, and so many memories for me. I live in Florida now and visit CT a few times a year and will always make Starpolska for a later evening supper. Potato pancakes, pierogis, kielbasa and Polish beers are all fantastic...and in a quaint and cozy place. My favoriteMore

We had gotten there and had to wait a little bit but not much at all. We first got borscht and it was a beet soup with meat pieriogi and was delicious. We got potato pancakes which could have used a little seasoning but were...still delicious. Then we got the polish patter and the kielbasa which was soooo good we had stop from eating them to save them for later. The pieriogis were so good. The service was amazing and all the food was great. We had a lot of food for a little price. Our waitress was very nice and all the other staff were as well. It was probably the best polish restaurant I’ve been to and I highly recommend.More

I’m not Polish, so I’m likely not the best judge of Polish cuisine. That said, I ordered a cup of tripe soup and the combination platter that include a potato pancake, pierogi, kielbasa, vigors, and stuffed cabbage. The soup was excellent, hearty and full of...flavor. The other items were uniformly bland and pretty tasteless.More

Friendly service. However everything we ordered was overly greasy, especially the potato pancakes. Menu had lots of options.
