After reading about the steamed cheeseburger I figured I had to try one when I was in the area. They are very popular with the locals. The burgers are backed like little meat loafs then kept in a steamer. They are served on fresh buns, with fresh lettuce, tomato and onion topped with Wisconsin cheese curds. It was very juicy... I admit, I'd never had a steamed burger in this style, I knew about them of course but you just can't get them where I live. This is a very small location, with a carefully curated limited menu and that's a good thing. Sticking to the basics is the best way to keep the quality high. My companion and I... More

I was introduced to the regional steamed cheeseburger in 1975. Had them all. While none were bad, not a one can hold a candle to K Lamay's! Only three things make a steamed cheeseburger. Meat, cheese, and bun. Kevin has mastered all three! If you want the best, and the best and friendliest service also, K Lamay's is calling.

If you are in central Connecticut you must visit this restaurant. A very small place but the steamed cheeseburgers are the best in the state and probably in the country. Some outside seating.

Great tasting juicy Hamburg with steamed Cheddar cheese, then add your favorite toppings! Add some fries or onion rings and you've got a meal! You won't find a better Hamburg in Meriden!

The menu at K LaMay's SteamedCheeseburger Emporium is limited, but each item matches the quality and value of the sandwich Otis mostly know. For. A very fresh roll held the contents that I ordered - I'm a fussy eater, and my order was made to my exact specifications. The sandwich was overflowing with tender and well seasoned slices of steak... I tried this place a few years back in their original location and had a generally favorable experience though I wasn't crazy about the cheese on my burger. Ted's cheese is virtually flavorless but I found K LaMays to be a little on the strong side. They've been in their current location for a while so I decided to drop... More
