Another failure. Went yesterday so we could dine outside since we had a 2 year old as well and didn’t want to eat inside - virus and all. My daughter ordered and came out to wait the requested 15 min or so. Way more than...well done and none of the 3 of use finished it. The cheese usually good was burned as well. Such a shame that who ever owns this now pays no attention to the guys that just hang around the grill joking around and spoiling the food. If you want cole slaw and French fries you are still good. Avoid the breakfast and lunch if you care what you eat. I’ll score it high so you will read it but it’s really a 1/2 star.More

I'd heard a lot about Shady Glen (especially their desserts), and was happy to finally have the opportunity to come here. The food was pretty good (we shared burgers and fries), and their strawberry milkshake was amazing. Their ice creams in general are really good,...so even if you don't want a full meal, at least come for the desserts. Part of the experience is the old-fashioned 1950s vibe, which was a lot of fun - it's a family-run restaurant. They only accepted cash, so keep that in mind. It was pretty busy when we came here, but they kept things moving smoothly.More

Always a great place for a quick bite. Burgers and milkshakes are prepared quickly to order. A top notch place that still embraces traditional family values.

We were so happy to find Spring Glen for lunch. It was a blast of the past from the employees uniforms to the decor. My cheeseburger was delicious and so were my husband’s scallops. Prompt polite service was a plus. The pumpkin pie sundae we...had for dessert was fabulous. Plus we got a malted shake to go which was a wonderful reminder of my childhood memories of getting them with my grandfather. 😍More

My girlfriend and I had both bowl of soup and a side of French fries. The only thing was the bill was $19. That’s the only thing I would have complained. Other than that, it was good.

Growing up in Manchester, Shady Glen was always a favorite. Classic atmosphere, great staff & food. Consistently predictable. After moving away, my family advised all the above had changed since the passing of the original owners. I returned today after many years & what a...huge disappointment. There was something floating in my guests water glass & the fries I ordered well done, as I had 100 times before, arrived cold & no where close to well done. The hamburger patties were flavorless & something was just not as I had recalled. The bun was another story. My family member had the same opinion & we had no desire to finish them. I could have looked past that as a fluke except the ice cream was the last straw, What was once the best pastachio ice cream...ever, was freezer burned. Our waitress was polite but not surprised in anyway when we explained our experience. The restaurant remains very clean however that & the uniforms are the only things which have remained consistent. 2 cheeseburgers 1 onion rings (cold undercooked fries removed from bill) 1 single scoop of ice cream 2 glasses of water = $24.26 Unfortunately I will never return.More

Good ole fashion eat at the counter French toast with bacon and coffee bottomless. Too bad it was too early for an icecream cone of mocha chip ( my favorite)!

Shady Glen has made their reputation on towns people like me who have been going there since we were kids. They’ve just been riding their reputation and not working on what made them popular which is service, food and cleanliness. I keep giving them another...chance and once again disappointingMore

What used to be a wonderful experience that everyone looks forward to going to is fast becoming a thing of the past. Staff is becoming unhappy and it shows. A concern or special request to the waitstaff is poorly handled by management that’s putting the...wait staff in the middle and a very uncomfortable position. On more than one occasion I have asked how to get communication to the owners and I’ve been told at both locations by different management people that the owners only show up to collect the cash and the businesses are run by the managers. On one occasion when I asked to have well done french fries the manager on duty B rated the wait staff girl into tears Who came to my table apologized and said she had to go home because of the abuse of the manager on the grill. Other staff members told me last week it was them that was getting back done. On this visit our waitress said she would only be there two more weeks and could handle it no longer after years on staff and everyone being unhappy. The guys on the grill cook things the way they want and do not care what you want. I make this statement after having been going for over 30 years. In the last two years it has gone downhill more and more and more. The ice cream is consistently the same how can you mess that up. But to sitting down for breakfast which is a very goodbye is horrible when you cannot get what you order and your waitstaff is turned into tears we avoid going at almost all cost and only go to get coleslaw as a takeout. They tell me the new owners don’t care and that management runs it. They no longer deserve my business and on a hot summer day the people used to be out The door but now there is plenty of room to sit down or walk right up to the counter for an ice cream. Unfortunately this institution is going down the flusher. A crying shame. I base this on over 30 years of being a patron of being a patron.More
