One of my favourite pubs around the Macclesfield area, located in Gawsworth and next to the Hall is this beautiful grade II listed building. The food is absolutely delicious and there's a great selection of drinks including lots of local beers and ales. We almost always get the fish finger butty. A really nice home made battered fish with two... More

We went for lunch x4 of us 3ordered fish and chips and I can honestly say it's the worse fish I have ever had, over cooked and what little fish that was inside the batter was dried up and tasteless. The other person had sausage and mash and that was passable but sorry to say I would not recommend it... More

What a lovely country pub, after initially calling in for a drink, we looked at the menu and decided to stay for dinner. A very good move! All the food was clearly home made, portions were generous and all were delicious. Our first visit but certainly not our last.

Went to the pub, after a good family walk one late spring afternoon. Phoned the pub up whilst still walking and they were able to find a table for five for us. All staff were very friendly, there was very good beer on tap and also in the bottle, and the food was excellent. Especially the fish and chips and... More

Out with our special friends to our favourite local. As usual the welcome and attention to our orders were excellent. The fare apart from the rather dry and chewy gammon steak was well up to scratch Deserts were also well received , and in particular the locally produced ice cream was superb.

Over Christmas, around 15 of us went for a trek through Danes Moss nature reserve in Macclesfield, and had booked a dining room at this most pleasant pub for an early evening meal. The pub is set in its own land which was once a farmhouse over 400 years old. The pub has great character and at east 3 dining... More

We love this pub! 15 of us celebrated my husband's birthday here last night. Fab food & very reasonably priced. Great cosy room with log burner. Thank you to the chef & staff who looked after us. We will be back 😀

This Grade II listed pub is everything I could wish for. The welcome is good, the atmosphere is so relaxing and I adore the food. There is a good selection of home cooked food and the prices are reasonable. I only wished I lived nearer and then I could visit at least once a week to enjoy the ambience and... More

This is one of our favourite country pubs. However I don't know if the chef was having an off night but we were very disappointed with the food on our last visit. We were warned off the fish and chips by some other customers who had not enjoyed their meal. The overpriced Thai curry was watery, thin and tasteless, with... More
