So of you're looking for a classic grinder shop with fresh cut meat then this is the place!!! I think it's the owner that makes the sandwiches! And let me tell you he's not stingy! The bread is fresh and compliments all the meat and veggies very well. The older woman is the owners wife is a little mean and... More

I have frequented this shop for over forty years and this was my first so so experience. The shop was not busy as it was a Thursday at about 2pm. I requested a 1/2 turkey sub with swiss cheese instead of provolone but got provolone anyway. I might expect that at a busy time or a place with new hires,... More

Having grown up in the south end of Hartford, I have been spoiled when it comes to grinders - subs, hoagies or maybe heroes, depending on where you are in the states - and, by far, Franklin Giant is the best! While I have not tried every grinder on the menu, I can tell you that the beef cutlet, Italian... More

Franklin Giant Grinder is still the place to hit in the old Little Italy part of the South end for a great, we'll portioned and inexpensive (for the size) grinder. The chicken cutlet with provolone and roasted peppers is a must have.

I can still remember my first time as a child going here with my father over 40 years ago. He bought a Pepper and Egg grinder and I had some. Over the years I have other grinders and their pizza and it's all really good, but when I ever get a chance to go to this place I don't even... More

So giant you can eat them for two-three meals. Love the chicken parm. Get the peppers and provolone. The setting is very casual, but that's some of the charm

While visiting a close friend in Hartford, I told him I wanted to go to an old school establishment for lunch and this was a great choice. I had the chicken cutlet grinder which turned out to be much better than I anticipated, the size of the sandwich was huge. The place is by no means fancy or up to... More

Franklin Giant Sandwich Shop is a Franklin Avenue legend. There's enough schmootz on a half grinder to fill you up for an entire afternoon. When you come out of your carb coma, you'll still be burping up lunch.
