The food here was a pleasant surprise. I was surprised to find such good brisket in CT and the accompanying sides of slaw and beans/rice were some of the best I have had. Just wish the serving of beef would have been a little larger. Good beer prices and live music.

Visited the place this summer almost twenty year to the last time I was in the area and ate there. I loved the craft local beer. The barbecue was lovely, service friendly and efficient and music was fun. I look forward to be back sooner than in twenty more years!

I'm really just commenting on the food. I have not been there at night for music and one day I plan to. Anyway, the food is just mediocre. Not bad, not great. I've been there a few times for lunch but mostly because it's close to where I need to be and I like the interior of the place.

We came up to hear Eliot Lewis perform. The show was terrific and the food delicious. My only 'issue' per se was the limited # of pickles in the fried pickles & okra. While there was a pile of okra....there were only SIX pickles in the basket. The salads we had were delicious and a nice size for dinner. The... More

Had a great meal with great gumbo and BBQ. The portions were so big that we had to skip dessert as we could not even finish what we had. The proximity to the Homestead suites was a big reason why we went and we were glad to have a decent place to have dinner.

The last two times i have been here the pulled pork sandwich was very fatty. Quite disgusting actually. I have had good food here in the past.

William thanks for letting us know- we do hand pull the freshly smoked butts and although it's usually pretty consistent sometimes they do it too quickly. I will remind the kitchen staff to be more careful! Please print out this email and use it as a $10 FOOD CREDIT for your next visit! More

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, when downtown Hartford was more deserted than usual on a non-game night. Black-Eyed Sally's did not disappoint. The wife and I shared some fried Brussels sprouts (cooked perfectly, not at all soggy). Though we were there for lunch, the portions were anything but skimpy. I had a delicious bowl of jambalaya, which I had... More

I won a gift card to Black-Eyed Sallys at an auction, and was glad to have the opportunity to try a new place. It was great! We went on a Saturday at 6:00. Parking was easy and inexpensive. The restaurant ambience is fun, and the waitstaff friendly & knowledgeable. The food was fantastic! There is money left on the gift... More

Having lived in Louisiana it's always good to know that there's an option for catfish and po-boys without having to hop a plane. And it's not just a reminder or vague imitation - the last meal we had would give any N'Orleans chef a run for their money. Great atmosphere and family friendly!
