Everything we had was delicious. The service was outstanding. We stayed in Hartford for a week and this was the best restaurant. Go hungry because the portions are huge.

The reviews are right. From the outside it looks a bit unassuming, but as soon as you walk through the door, you begin to be transported to a very special place. The host was very friendly, and also very professional. The decor is sublime. The...long wall facing the street is basically a wall of glass which at that time of day bathes the dining room in light. The benches and chairs are deeply padded and very comfortable. The walls have a cut stone facade. Colors are muted and soothing. You start to feel pampered before you even sit down. Drinks and six pieces of garlic bread were quickly served. The lunch menu is relatively short, but with many attractive options. Most of the pasta dishes were around $12, but the amount of food is incredible. My pesto chicken gnocchi was enough for three people as were the dishes my family ordered. The gnocchi were pillowly, almost ethereally soft, as if they had just been boiled. They literally would bounce back in shape when compressed. They were easily the best gnocchi I've ever had, and we vacation often in Italy. The pesto sauce was absolutely delicious and creamy, with excellent sun dried tomatoes in the sauce. The chicken was tender inch square thin slices, not dried out, cooked just right. How can the restaurant make a profit serving this much excellent food for $12? Not my problem, but please give this restaurant enough business to keep them going. This is the best value restaurant I can recall. The server, like the host, was very friendly and very professional. The staff obviously know their profession and do it with subtlety and panache. Since everything was perfect, we had no requests. Our only regret is that we were from out of state, so we won't be able to visit as much as we would like. But for those of you near Hartford, this is a don't miss restaurant. Lucky you.More
Absolutely phenomenal service! The nicest wait staff. Super helpful, especially with our very inquisitive grandmother. Food was truly excellent and insanely affordable. The lunch menu was pretty extensive. It just had a really good vibe to it. And it’s right next to the park and...capitol building for a lovely post-lunch walk.More
My girlfriends and I visited this wonderful restaurant today. Everyone’s meal was absolutely delicious, fresh and many dishes had homemade pasta. The menu had a wonderful assortment. The atmosphere and the wait staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. The owner came over and we had...a wonderful discussion with him.More
Our group of five enjoyed a delicious lunch at Salute. The staff there was exceptional and catered to our every request and more! It was an easy walk from the Wadsworth Atheneum and we will definitely visit again when in the area.
I often travel between New York and Boston and Hartford is at about the half-way point. So, I was looking for a good, relatively inexpensive restaurant with good service where I could go to break up a three-hour trip. Salute fits the bill quite nicely....I think the food is quite good and the service is attentive.More
What amazing food!! Holy cow! We have been there twice now. This last time was this past Saturday. Such a lovely intimate setting with great service. Our food cannot be complimented in words enough, our drinks were so unique and scrumptious, our server Kathy was...exceptional! Not only was she knowledgeable about the food/specials, she refilled drinks/checked on us often. We will be back when we visit again!More
We picked this place because it was walking distance from our hotel. They do offer outdoor seating but because it was so windy we sat inside. Our server was very friendly and attentive. My husband and I split an appetizer and each had an entree....The house bread and Smokey tomato butter was delicious. We dined there on Wednesday and lucky for me it was half price wine bottles. Our food was superb. We were so full from dinner we skipped on dessert. Our generous waiter sent us on our way with some biscottis on the house. Wonderful dining experience.More
We were greeted by the owner "RAZ" who was warm & friendly even to our Corgi, Sydney. (YES! THEY ARE DOG FRIENDLY AS WELL). It was a bustling 9/11 Saturday evening around 5pm. We were seated promptly and drinks were served and offered to Sydney...as well who was lying under our table. All around us were delicious food plates flying with incredible aromas. The boneless short beef ribs were scrumptious and melted in your mouth. Flank steak was sheer perfection and the cod fillet was flaky & moist. Atmosphere relaxing and entertaining. Wait staff extremely attentive & got the orders done right the first time! Appetizers and opulent pastas abound. This place is OUTSTANDING, And upon exiting you are given an incredible bag of biscotti which were unlike any I've ever tasted. Raz even said goodnight to Sydney. I came all the way from Ma. but I will definitely return & tell all of my friends what a diamond this place is. Prepare to have food orgasms.More
Rather disappointing. Their rating as #1 restaurant in Hartford made me have high expectations. The service and friendliness was 5-star. The food was ordinary. Huge portions but mediocre flavor and preparation. We all had pasta dishes but the preparation and presentation was no better than...a Carraba’s. Nice vibe. Lively bar.More
After a year in lockdown we couldn’t have picked a better place for our first real restaurant meal. Everything was beyond delicious. We had sweet potato ravioli, Caesar salad, salmon with a potato lasagna and pork tenderloin. Even the bread was perfect with smoked tomato...butter. The service was amazing - the owner, waitstaff and bussers, everyone was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. Thanks for the extra bread, Aggie!More
The Meals were absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was welcoming and nice. On our way out the door, they gave us free biscotti, and were overall super friendly. The restaurant was pretty good about social distancing as well. All in all, it was an excellent...experience. I'd particularly recommend the cheesy garlic bread and meatballs.More
The restaurant was full for a Friday night. All tables turned over fairly quickly. Pre-cautions were in place as our waiter wore a mask the entire time. Cheese bread was excellent. My husbands steak was perfectly prepared. My pasta was good but needed more veg...in my pasta. The portions were large. I took home more than 1/2 of the meal. I requested additional and it came fairly quickly. What would have made it Excellent? Maybe a little more personality from the ambiance and waiter. (I get it, it is hard during covid!) He was very good, attentive, but we are a little critical. Excellent is a 5 star restaurant. A definite very good restaurant. We would return if we lived in the area.More
Always good food, great service and a friendly atmosphere. It's like Cheers, where they always remember your name. The owners, Andy Rizzo and Jimmy Cosgrove, are the best.
In our current world, a delicious meal with amazing customer service is hard to come by. If that's what you're after, look no farther than Salute! My family and I have had a hard time finding places to spend time together with the way things...are right now but luckily, Salute is exactly halfway in between us. Not only did they offer us refuge for the holidays and gave us an amazing Christmas Eve experience but we returned about two months later on a Sunday because they were gracious enough to open the restaurant EARLY to fit with our schedule--truly unreal. It also doesn't hurt that the food is delicious and the atmosphere is very enjoyable. Our Christmas Eve dinner ended with complimentary dessert and homemade biscotti to take home, whereas our second experience ended with more amazing biscotti and an uncooked cheesy garlic bread that we could take home and enjoy again! I seriously cannot rave enough about this place. Do yourself a favor and visit--you'll not only be supporting a small business but you'll have an amazing time as well.More
