After years of hearing good reviews, we gave Primo a try. Sadly we were disappointed with the results. The pizzas we ordered for takeout were cold, even though we picked them up right at the promised time. It appeared that Primo made no effort to keep them warm after they were baked. Maybe this was just a one off mistake,... More
surprised that it is small and they deliver.. lovely owners.. good food will go back - tried piza - will try other foods = owners coulfnt be nicer .
While I wouldn't say that their pizza is the best I've ever had, it is consistent. It is a very cheesy, and thus oily pizza. The crust is thick, not thin. Their dinners are good as well. The portions are huge. You will definitely have leftovers. I've tried the calzones, eggplant parm, chicken parm, ziti with ricotta and mozzarella, the... More
Find that the food, whether it be pizza, salads, etc are made inconsistently. Sometimes I order a greek salad and it will come with onions and other times not. I have made requests such as no olives and it still comes with olives. Pizza can be very greasy. A favorite is the buffalo chicken, but again find inconsistency Have bit... More
They got our business when Domino's starting charging delivery fees. The pizza is more authentic, but they cut it in squares! Ask for pie slices and they will do it. They also put a decent amount of toppings on, where Domino's is cheaping out. If you have a choice, go Primo!
At recommendation of a local friend, we stopped in to order pizza for delivery. Ordered white pizza, margherita style, with a caesar salad. Added a $5 tip for driver. Pizza was delivered in 45 minutes. It was cold, there was no white sauce, very little garlic and thick sliced tomatoes overwhelmed the pizza. Very little fresh mozarella, very little ricotta... More
Primo is known for having a large cheese pizza for $5.95 for pick up Sun-Thur. Is the pizza good? It's good, but don't expect something like Pepe's. Their subs are good and so are their garlic bites. They deliver during the worst weather unlike others. During a snowstorm, they were the only pizza place willing to deliver that night.
Primo Pizza's major attributes are their low prices and that they deliver. You won't live long in Hamden without finding an advertisement from them in your mailbox. The pizza, at best, is just average. It has none of the taste associated with a typical "New Haven" pizza. Yet their offerings differ little from your average pizza, available nationwide. To put...
