1) We received orders which were not our orders. BACK TO THE KITCHEN. 2) When the correct orders were finally received, the food was reminiscent in appearance to vomit. It was congealed indecipherable luke warm glop on a plate. 3) If you dare to venture...to Ixtapa for some of it's fourth rate food, do not order any pork dishes. The pork in my dish.. to put it politely, was definitely out of code. I suffered the aftermath at home that night. At one point in time five-six years ago Ixtapa was not too bad...it did the job in a pinch. But now...ugh! pricey, poor wait service and disgusting, repulsive excuse for Mexican food. There are many, many much better Mexican eateries in the New Haven area. Give a pass on Ixtapa and possibly a trip to the ER.More

Usually love this place but today disappointing. Today I did takeout. I ordered fish tacos with their special sauce. The fish was shredded which I never experienced in a fish taco before. All the other places I’ve had fish tacos the fish was pieces of...fish. Really was a turn off and went down the garbage disposal.More

Good change from the usual Mexican chain restaurants. Lots of vegetarian options which is a thumbs up from me.

Abe and the entire gang are just awesome and the food is authentic and perfectly done. Better than my mother-in law (don’t tell her). We go every Sunday and often during the week. Carne Asada best we have had north of Texas. Don’t miss out!

Great service and food was exceptional! Lots of locals which means the place is good! Pictured is the combo of chimichanga and burrito; I asked for quest instead of red sauce (was delicious this way!)

We went to celebrate my Granddaughters 21st birthday! We all had different dinners and everyone enjoyed their meal 😋 I would have given it a Five star rating but we had to kill a very big bug on the table!

Love this place. Really good Mexican combo platters. But the hidden gem is the tortilla soup. Highly recommend. Never disappointed. Staff is super friendly. Great for families and Quinnipiac students will love the portion sizes.

I spend a lot of time in Mexico and this is the most authentic Mexican food in the area. Not the typical Faux Mexican cantinas where all the meals taste the same. Each dish is it's own meal so your choices actually matter. If you...want Real Mexican this is the place.More

I’ve eaten at this restaurant many times. The food is good- very authentic. The decor is very festive and vibe is very family oriented. However on my recent visit I went with a group of friends on a Saturday night. We ordered drinks, appetizers and...and entree’s. We decided on no dessert. We felt very rushed towards the end of our meal. I had to tell the staff 2x that I was still eating when they tried to take my plate away. We got out bill and paid promptly. After paying, we sat there no more than 5 minutes as we discussed plans for the rest of the night. As we were just preparing to leave, the waiter came up to us and told us that we needed to leave because there was a “wait” for a table. My friends and I were shocked. I’ve never been to a restaurant, and I eat out quite a bit, who has been so rude. When we went to leave there were 5 people waiting at the door, not some “line to the door” as I had expected. As I mentioned earlier, this is not a 5 star restaurant where you go spend the night eating a 5 course meal. But it was obvious all customers here have $$ on our heads. So they weren’t able to make a buck on the 5 people in line if I was still sitting at the table. It was really a turn off.More

The maitre d’ was slow, but service was prompt. Decor was fun. I ordered a Cadillac margarita and the Enchiladas Suizas—chicken. The margarita was very good, not too sour and not too sweet. The enchilada plate was good, not exceptional, with perfectly seasoned, very good,...moist shredded chicken. It would have been better with more tomatillo sauce than was provided, but the sour cream was generous. The beans benefited from adding sauce and cheese. The rice was a bit dry, and there wasn’t any sauce to spare.More
