My husband and I came here for a quick bite before heading to a meeting, and this place was a good pick. They seated us promptly and took our orders, and the food didn't take too long to come out (as it shouldn't have, since we ordered smaller dishes). Their Philly Cheesesteak rolls were pretty good, as were their wings and their mac & cheese. We got full really quickly with this food/we were able to share the mac & cheese without needing to order another entree. The bar started to fill up while we ate, mostly with younger people (maybe from Southern or Quinnipiac), but the restaurant wasn't so noisy that we couldn't hear each other talk. No complaints about the service or the food.

As has been a normal for my wife and I, we started here for late lunch/early dinner before the Quinnipiac Men's Hockey game. We have been here a good amount. We started with the Avacado egg roles, to be different. We had this before and this time they put the sauce on top. Overall good, just wish the sauce was also on the side to dip. My wife had the salad with salmon, which she always likes and I went with the Smokehouse Angus Burger. This is the first time I ordered so was hoping. Anyhow it arrived and the sweet potato french fries were great. As for the burger, it was cooked well but the bun was bland and not ehat I expected. The bacon was cooked perfectly but no barbacue sauce to be found. Not sure I will get again. Good place before the game and we will be back.

We have been coming here for quite a while and it has always been good. This time we were a party of ten, and we all were looking forward to a good meal before a hockey game at QU. I should point out that the waitress was great with the entire group and all the problems. We started with drinks and I ordered a draft beer. When I ordered my second beer it arrived and clearly was not what I ordered. Same thing happened to one of my friends, and it turned out to be issue at the bar. We ordered appetizers and they were very good, the Hot Honey was perfect. The majority of the group ordered sandwiches and that's where things turned. After waiting almost a half hour, some of us received our meals, but three were still missing. Our sandwiches were cold or overcooked, which was surprising. Then over ten minutes later the missing items arrived. It turned out that it was dropped in the kitchen, but we were not aware. Overall a bad experience for the entire team and not what we have come to expect. Hope next time it's better, but will be a while till we consider returning.

The food was excellent, the drinks were good, but let me tell you a story: Christy or Christi or whatever iteration of the name it is, served us. She did a great job: attentive and quick I was not dissatisfied with the service. I ordered artichoke dip & a cheeseburger and fries and a Paloma. While I waited for my food, I went to the bathroom, and on the door, saw a sign for happy hour. 3:30-6:30 Monday-Thursday I believe a series of drinks and apps were reduced price: no fine print, no nothing. I eat my food. The dip was amazing. I go to the bathroom again, I look again and I snap a picture. Artichoke dip is on the list of happy hour priced items. Stay with me now, I didn’t come to this place to get a discount or get anything taken off of my bill. I saw something that meant maybe I could get a deal, so I was curious. I asked my waitress: is the artichoke dip happy hour price? No. The response was just a flat no, no explanation, nothing. Now a regular person would brush this off, because hey she said no, no big deal.. but normally anywhere else I’ve been, Hamden or elsewhere, there was at least an explanation. So I asked someone else. And at that point, I could feel the exasperation. Whomever they spoke to in the back went to say they would cover the difference, but my server didn’t change my bill. Having worked in hospitality/customer service nearly all my life, you know it the “oh boy she’s about to complain/ask for something off her bill/some other stereotype”. I sat in the booth we were in for a moment and thought to myself, “Am I losing it? Did what I think happened just happen?” $3.50 is nothing to make a big deal about. Before I left I asked to speak to a manager. I paid my bill and overtipped the waitress, and said to a manager “why isn’t the dip that I ordered happy hour price?” I prefaced that with a profuse please let the waitress now her service was impeccable. The response was that I had to sit in the bar area for it to be happy hour price. The manager, Nancy was kind and gracious, and told me she would address it, because if it was confusing for me it could be confusing for someone else as well. Also, in my choice of sitting in the back in a booth my waitress also didn’t mention that I could sit in the bar area and get the happy hour price, and I ordered to Palomas. Now, let’s go back: after the waitress I spoke to said no, she could’ve explained that instead of just leaving it at no. And under normal circumstances, a server would explain. But there was a reason why she said nothing. And that is why I’ll never eat at Eli’s again, no matter how good the food is. It’s 2022, I well aware of what a microaggression is and unconscious bias is.

Stopped in for a bite to eat after moving my daughter in to her dorm on 8/24/21 Tuesday. The wait in the lobby was about 10 mins at 3PM. It took forever to have our order taken and out even longer for the food to come. Ordered a flat bread for an appetizer and burgers for our main course. Took over 2 hrs to eat and get out. I don’t know if they didn’t plan on all the clients or what, but that was really a long time to get a burger. Food was delicious but a car bumper would have tasted good by 4:30 since we hadn’t eaten since 8 AM that morning. Could have been a better experience.

Stopped in for late lunch after visiting area relative. Started with nachos which were OK. Cheese was the machine melted little league game type. Had Penne Vodka with chicken. Definitely wasn't a vodka sauce. more like a marinara, pasta was under cooked. Chicken was tough. Kitchen was especially slow as it was a solid 15 minute wait for food. Not impressed

First I must say take out is much better than eatting in. I was hoping the service was better, the food however was very good! They have a lot of different dishes along with your regular type of quick meals. I would have given a 5 star review if the service was polite and more attentive.

Was out and about again and passed on lunch, so while on way home, we decided to stop in. We have been here multiple times before before hockey games, and always enjoy. This trip we tried the fish tacos, and they were great. The slaw makes the difference, wish some extra lime was given. My wife went with a salad and salmon, her go to, and was perfect. I had the Barbacue burger, that comes with gouda and bacon, plus a sauce. Overall great burger and would have again. We will be back.

The service was good but the food was only adequate. I had a fried chicken sandwich that I didn’t finish because it tasted so greasy without any flavor.

We get together with friend 6 feet apart. One of us gets lobster rolls for the 3 couples. They are excellent and heaping with lobster . They surprisingly travel well. They are good till the last bite.

We went here on a Fri eve about 5:30. The restaurant art was not crowded at all but the bar was packed. We got there just in time because as we were waiting for our food the place started to fill up. We ordered our food and the service was good. I ordered a cup of clam chowder. It was good, not great, I've had better. Our food came quickly and we both had burgers. They were both cooked the way we like, his very rare, mine well done. There are 2 complaint I have though. The first one being is that s burger comes with fries. These fries tasted OK but they were vert mushy and undercooked. Next time I go I will either ordered them crispy or try another kind. The bacon on my burger was perfect not undercooked at all. The second was that she brought the check and we were ready to go. It took so much time for her to come and pick it up that my husband had to go and give it to her. I mean we had waited for probably 15 minutes and we were done. Even our water was gone.

Molly, Thank you for the feedback. I feel your pain when it comes to the whole check process. I have heard that the number one complaint at any restaurant is that the whole getting the check and then getting it processed takes way too long. We are actually in the process of acquiring handheld units that will allow the guest to process a credit card at the table. I will mention your experience to our General Manager so he can discuss it with his staff. Thanks again.

The college kids seem to like this place. It has a nice atmosphere. I find the food too heavy. I have been there three times, but have since found other places that have lighter fair. Good place for burgers, cheese stake, and the like.

I cannot speak based on authority about this establishment. IO will admit that I have negative gasronomic reactions, to put it lightly, to high grease foods like movie theatre butter and pan-fried chinese food. That said, their alternative egg rolls were excessively greasy. Biting into them I had grease spill-out from multiple egg-rolls. That said, I cna speak positively of their Pot Pie. It arrived on time, very large in size, and was very filling. The same can be said of their apple dessert. I must admit the firs time I encountered this place was during graduate school. It was weekend night but I do recall several tables received what is best called a "Nacho block". It is very similar to cheese as well as chili, black slices, and cheeses and lettuce and diced tomatoes place inside a stainless steal bowl, then flipped and baked for 10-15 minutes. It put the similar offerings of other establishments to shame. Is a shame they no longer feature it (even it at a higher cost?)
