This is a casual spot to have great seafood outdoors with no fuss. They really keep things simple. The menu is on a very large board with the items painted on with great big print so you can see it from every table. Lobster, clams, mussels, salmon and other seafood, corn - all cooked on a 30 ft barbecue grill.... More

It's a treat. Put your rump on a stump and order shrimp/clams/mussels/lobster/steak/chicken/corn grilled over a wood fire. BYOB and I saw people with other stuff on their table (cheese/crackers/bread/etc.). The prices were very high for what it is. 1.25 pound lobster $26. Rib steak $19.00. One ear of roasted corn = $3.45. No burgers or dogs. Great atmosphere and service.... More

The food was fab. Parking sucked. During busy hours turn right into mall and park there and cross street. Staff were always super busy, going solo, I got forgotten about all the time. Very picnic style. BYOB which one should know before going.

The Place is unique and a must visit if you go to the Eastern Connecticut shore. Everything is cooked in a very large BBQ that is the center of attraction. You sit outdoors on tree stumps and talk to the people around you. It is like a large backyard family BBQ, only better. We started with the roasted clam special... More

If you like a beer with your meal this is BYOB. The tree stumps to sit on were comfortable, the wait staff was a little slow, but the food was great. My boyfriend got a dozen shrimp and said it was the best that he has ever had. We split an order of corn on the cob (you get two... More

Pull into a field with a big red and white tent, a long open wood burning fire and stumps for chairs. Amazing but the Grilled Clams with secret sauce are out of this world even though they cost about a buck a piece. They also cook lobster, chicken, slabs of fish and grilled corn. BYOB and anything else they don't... More

It is hard to think of how you could offer fewer amenities, but many people enjoy sitting on tree stumps and eating at wooden tables outdoors. Good seafood and burgers. The Place takes the Low Overhead Gold Medal.

The atmosphere was charming and the wait staff excellent. The tree stumps were unusually comfortable, the tables clean, and the whole setup was nice. However, the food left something to be desired. I feel $9.95 for a piece of chicken (and nothing else) to be too much. The clam special didn't look anything like in the pictures posted on their... More

We visited here during our holiday from England. We've never been to anything similar before. You take your own drinks and sides then just order from the barbecue menu. I tried clams for the first time, my wife enjoyed the chicken and my daughter the salmon. As I've said it was a unique experience for us but it was good... More

This is the place to bring house guests from other parts of the country to sample Connecticut's best seafood. The roasted clams and steamers, shrimp cocktail, and corn are superb, but it's the roasted lobster from Milford Pound that makes the day. Grab a table, sit on a stump (or for seniors, find a plastic chair) and watch a young... More
