Lovely place, dinner on the green!

We had a lovely dinner here at Whitfield's. Such a lovely atmosphere, good service and excellent drinks and food. Our server was attentive and friendly. Our Manhattans and Martinis were excellent and served nice and cold! The Thai calamari (a small plate) was large in taste and size! Entrees were... read more

We were here for lunch while touring the area. The restaurant is located on the Green in an old, updated home. The ambiance is beautiful with an open dining room and bar area. The large windows allow for much light and beautiful views of the Green. I ordered a seasonal salad, and it was fresh and tasty. My lunch partner... More

I had lunch at Whitfields twice last week. On both occasions the food was quite excellent and strongly recommended. The salads interesting and their burgers first class. Unfortunately the service did not quite measure up to the same high standards. Slow and not fully interested. A great pity because it is delightful place to have a leisurely lunch

.... With the appetizers being to die for. Drinks were good we all had martinis. We were sat right next to the kitchen so it was very noisy. If it wasn't so busy I would have asked for another seat. Dinners... One had Tuna.... Very good. I had five hour braised ribs. Very tender not much flavor other than beef... More

I don't think I've ever reviewed one of my local restaurants, but after many excellent meals here I wanted to share my experiences. I have eaten here many times--in the summer on their lovely patio overlooking the sculpture garden of the adjacent gallery, and in cold weather inside their small, lively dining area overlooking the town green. I have never... More

Menu is decent. A bit pricey, but you pay for atmosphere. Overlooking the Guilford Green. Often run groupon or living social coupons...

Situated on the Town Green, Whitfield's has a nice feel and provided a good meal. We went for lunch and while the menu isn't deep with a large number of choices, there is enough to please most palettes.

When we entered the restaurant, we had no reservation. The hostess grimaced visibly, and indicated that there might be an issue. The place was empty and half empty when we left. The food was simply okay, with a unexceptional Tuscan bean soup, steaks that were not cooked to order, cheesecake that was shapeless, and generally food that was not exceptional... More

Four of us had lunch at this establishment and quite enjoyed the meal and service with one exception. My fries were brown and greasy like they had been sitting for a while and put back into the fryer to warm them up. Not right for an establishment charging these prices for lunch. I noticed that others at other tables having... More

A birthday lunch that started with cocktails made to order. Then we waited quite a while before our server returned. Maybe they were short staffed? Ordered apps- shared the dumplings (one or two weren't cooked thoroughly) and the calamari which was fantastic. Our main dishes arrived quickly (almost too quickly). My sister's lamb burger was excellent but not cooked in... More
