Will not speak for the other couple - although they said they would not go back…. Not sure how they are in business. Tuna was signature and was COLD! The filet was tiny and tasted like stew meat- which I have never encountered. Fries barely...accompanied and cold. Practically empty (clue #1). Kid there at 8:30 (clue #2). Empty liquor bottles on display (#clue #3) out of many main dishes (clue #4). Service was good. But mind you was empty and the filet was $45 for nothing. Went to McDonalds on the way home. We were starving. Absolutely awful. So sad to say.More

Everything was good, but they could easily get to 5 stars. We have eaten here many times and they have great days and average days. We did Sunday brunch with friends this visit. Service was good, but when we were ordering, were told they out...of 2 entrees we ordered, They should have said that before we decided what were ordering. Food was good.More

Spectacular birthday dinner for my son. Food was amazing. We had the Angus Filet mignon as well as the lobster seafood squid ink pasta and dove sole (special of the day). The steak was prepared perfectly and the seafood dishes were great! I highly recommend.

The Coast Restaurant has excellent seafood available in downtown Cos Cob (near the Strickland Avenue historical district & Bust-Holly House Museum). I had the scallops with risotto, which was excellent.

The food is still great with so many great choices. But, we were one of 3 tables and one left right after we were seated. We had to wait a long time to order drinks and then food. Water and bread were asked for many...times before it came. They aren't busy and I can see cutting staff, but how can a waiter and assistant not keep up with 2 tables? Maybe they have to cook and do the dishes? Whatever - no excuse on the last 3 visits. Also they had to be reminded Tuesday is half price wine night when the bill came and we didn't get the discount. The food is great, but service brought it from 5 to 3 stars.More

This place is awful. My wife and I went here for Mother’s Day today, we booked a reservation days in advance. Despite the reservation, we waited half an hour for a table; they were very disorganized. After finally being seated we waited 15 minutes...for drinks and then over 30 minutes for our waitress to take our order. After she took our order she said she was leaving the restaurant for the day, mid-service. We waited ANOTHER HOUR before I waved a different waiter over asking about our food. He went back to check, came back and reported she never placed our order, and that she “is sick and went home”. We walked out hungry with nothing but an apology. There were half a dozen other tables near us also waiting for food that had been there longer than us. This is my wife’s first Mother’s Day and this will be a lasting negative impression. Do not eat here!More

The food was good, the service was horrendous. We ate there last night. Drinks were delivered one at a time 10 minutes apart. Wait staff seemed uninterested. Quite unfortunate as the food was tasty but the poor service ruined the experience.

Came here many years ago and liked it, but never returned for some reason, but tried it again with friends a couple of weeks ago. All four entrees - scallops, duck, sole and pappardelle were amazing. We went again a week later and same thing....Bronzino, Boullabaisse, Fish/Chips and Squid Ink Pasta were all top notch. Service is very good, portion size was good and the food came fairly quickly, but we weren't rushed. Prices - given it's fish, decent sized portions and perfectly prepared are reasonable. My wife has now been 4 times in 3 weeks. Yes it is that great.More

So last night my wife and I were trying to find some outdoor dining for a long overdue date night... not easy with COVID and with kids... we were on the waitlist for one place for over an hour but we checked online and there...were plenty of reservations for outdoor dining here... red flag #1. We made the reservation and started over. We've lived in Cos Cob for almost 10 years and never came here so we thought, OK, its time to try it. We walk in, and the vibe immediately felt off. We go to our table, and my wife pointed out that the beer pint glasses were free ones from other places... strange. We ordered the oysters, rock shrimp tempura and shishito peppers to start. Oysters were the highlight, blue points, all good. The rock shrimp tempura was sub par, and for $13 you got about 10 tiny shishito peppers, felt like a ripoff. Bad start. She ordered a margarita which the waiter said was great and it tasted like a bad mix from Costco. I got the snapper special and she got lobster bisque and pear arugula salad with manchego cheese. The snapper was fine (maybe a touch overdone), but the asparagus on top was limp and tasteless. The "bisque" seemed more like tomato soup with 5 grams of lobster, complete joke. Her salad was embarrassing: almost no cheese at all, the pears were gross and the candied walnuts had not one full one, and instead was like the crumbs at the bottom of the bag. So for a dinner we were not full at the end (we had to go home and eat another meal), and only got one drink each, and hated the meal, to pay $200 seems like thievery. The service wasn't horrible, but wasn't good. The food was something Applebee's wouldn't feel comfortable serving. But the sunset was nice. We can comfortably check the box on this place and confidently never return. We just don't understand how they possibly can still be in business.More

We were just visiting for the day and were lucky enough to find this restaurant. The place is coastal-vibe gorgeous, and the food was superb. Excellent service - and - amazingly enough - a two-course lunch for $19. Wish this place was in Manhattan -...where the food would be at least twice as expensive - but it would still be a lovely dining choice.More
