Great hotdogs, relish makes it great. 5 to go is my order. Don't look for fries though you can get chips. A must stop for any travelers.

Stopped at this Classic Connecticut Hotdog restaurant over the weekend. This place features simple menu of hotdogs, burgers and chips. No fried food. The grilled hotdog was very flavorful. Tried their hot pepper relish on dog which was excellent but beware it is on the...hot side. So if spicy isn’t your thing I would skip the relish. Prices were inexpensive. Service was good. Would definitely go back again.More
Hot dog heaven 👍👍👍👍 Great hot dogs cooked to perfection... worth the drive from anywhere..nice snap when you bite... they use Rosols - great hot dogs made in New Britain..
While visiting relatives and friends you have to stop by for a few dogs. Just like when ordering a cheese steak in Philly there's a right way to order at Blackies. For me it's Two and a cheese, a small birch and chips. 90 years...in business and still killing it. It's all about the relish, go enjoy but ask someone beforehand how to order. They'll think you're a local then. Always ChefnflyMore
Very tasty little hot dogs with an excellent relish. Prices fair. Not a bad snack spot if you want a quick dog to hold you over.
I can't believe that this place has been in business for so long and gets such great reviews. The hot dogs are small and the rolls are cheap. There is no sauerkraut, no chili, no fries, no onions or onion rings. What's the attraction here,...the relish? I'm not going back, but a lot of people will and I don't know why.More
just a little old throw back hot dog shack with cheap food quick service and no desire to modernize or be healthy or make structural improvements. blackies kows its place o this earth and applies its energy to just keep doing what its done since...the ice age- make good fun reliable inexpensive food. there are better hot dogs (glenwood) its closed on fridays and sometimes parking is tough, but its reliable, it appreciates its own history without shoving it in our faces and they have really good milkshakes, and relish. dont even drive by it if you are not a hot dog or burger person, dont suggest they try serving turkey dogs or use healthier oil - thats not your right. blackies is a special place for those of us who enjoy the consumption of meat and dont have lots of money to spend.More
This is one of the iconic hot dog stands in Connecticut. Menu is simple: Hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, potato chips, soda. Hot dog condiments are only spicy brown mustard, ketchup and homemade spicy relish. No onions, chilli or other fancy toppings. Honestly, it is a...steamed hot dog, just ok. They say it is all about the relish, and the relish was good but if you were a kid you probably wouldn't like it as it was spicy. I heard another customer ask for a hot dog well done so I tried that, and it was better as the steamed dog was grilled or fried to be a bit more toasty. It you are a hot dog lover then you have to come here but I wouldn't make a special trip. I would stop for a quick bite if I was driving by but as a few others said, it is just a hot dog, and a small one to boot. Cash only. Good for an old tyme experience.More
This iconic location on the Waterbury-Cheshire line is a must visit if you love hot dogs and hamburgers served with their secret recipe relish. They are not opened on Fridays stemming from a long time family tradition when Catholics could not eat meat on Friday!
Right off I84 in Cheshire, these hot dogs are fantastic as they use Martin Rosol's (locally made from New Britain) and their homemade relish is out of this world! They're quick to order and to be eaten fast! They also serve burgers, but no fries......but just order the hot dogs! No regrets!More
